When 20,000 people gathered in Yixian Valley, the third day had already passed.
Zhong Hong, the commander of the headquarters, was shocked. This group of Jin soldiers had unexpectedly entered the rocky hill without any warning. If they burned their food supplies, the consequences would be disastrous.
Wanyan Ang was originally traveling light, and these 3,000-plus men were chased and attacked by the defenders at the top of the valley, leaving him with less than 2,000 men. The most fatal thing was that the Song army had suffered zero casualties so far.
Without supplies, Wanyan Ang's soldiers were trapped in the valley with no food or grass, and there was not even a piece of tree bark to chew.
The Song army was not in a hurry to attack, nor did they call for surrender. It seemed that they wanted to trap them to death.
"Prince Yun, let's surrender." Wanyan Quxian, with disheveled hair and dry lips, looked at Wanyan Ang in despair.
Wanyan Ang no longer had the arrogance of the past. His left hand was injured and tied to his chest. The injury was caused by stones thrown by the Song army above his head.
"Surrender? My Great Jin only has warriors who died in battle, no cowards who surrender!"...
Wanyan Quxian didn't dare to say anything more, and the remaining Jin soldiers around him were all dejected.
More than 20,000 people surrounded the Jin soldiers, who numbered less than 2,000, in this valley and played a game of cat and mouse with them.
Zhong Hong unexpectedly came to command the troops personally. The Pingxiang garrison was the first to discover the Majiazhuang massacre. Commander Sun Dabiantan happened to pass by Majiazhuang while rushing to support Yixian Valley. The Pingxiang troops witnessed the tragedy inflicted by the Jin soldiers firsthand. The soldiers were all ignited by hatred and rage, and they all cried out for revenge!
The soldiers in Pingxiang were very excited and came to Zhong Hong's command camp to volunteer.
Zhong Hong's plan was to wipe out the invading enemy without losing a single soldier, so they were thinking about what plan to use.
Jia Loushan of Wanghuzhai, Liao Datou of the Firearm Battalion, Zhan Sanping of the Julu Army, Sun Dabiantan of the Pingxiang Army, and Meng Xiaochao of Yixian Valley gathered at the Zhonghong Command Camp to discuss countermeasures.
Jia Loushan pointed to the mark on the map and said, "The Jin bandits are trapped in the valley. As long as we guard the exit, we can starve them to death!"
Zhong Hong shook his head: "It would be better to starve them to death. But these 20,000 garrison troops have been away from their garrisons for too long, and something unexpected might happen. They must be annihilated within three days!"
Zhan Sanping was a bald man. He touched his bald head and said, "What if we summon the Jin thieves to surrender?"
Before Zhong Hong could reply, Sun Dabiantan shouted angrily, "The Jin thieves are worse than beasts. They slaughtered everyone in Majiazhuang, leaving no one alive. The blood has flowed like a river. We will never accept their surrender!"
Zhong Hong slammed the table and said, "Pass the order! We will not accept surrender. Anyone who leaves the valley to surrender will be killed!"
Liao Datou was a real big head, with an unusually large head. He shook his big head and said, "General Zhong, we can use firearms to attack."
Liao Datou unfolded the map and said, "General Zhong, please look! A line runs through the bottom of Yixian Valley from north to south, and it's extremely narrow at both ends. Meng Xiaochao and his few hundred men alone can hold it. If we use rockets, crossbows, and rocks to block the entrances and exits, the only place left for the Jin thieves is the central hinterland."
Meng Xiaochao said happily, "General Liao, do you mean to use the caltrop cannons from your firearms battalion to blast the sky mines, and drop them from the top of the valley to destroy them completely?"
Liao Datou shook his big head and chuckled, "That's exactly what I mean. We can also modify the kerosene tank and put the kerosene into the jar. Light the fuse and throw it to the bottom of the valley, then shut them in and beat them!"
Zhan Sanping touched his bald head and said, "Isn't this a bit of a waste?"
Zhong Hong slammed the table and said, "No matter how many firearms you use, just throw them to the bottom of the valley and burn these sons of bitches to death!"
Song Dynasty firearms had limited power, but in such a narrow valley, if these thunder cannons and flaming oil tanks were thrown into the valley, it would be enough to make Wanyan Ang and his men suffer. Especially since the kerosene used in the flaming oil tanks was an ancient version of a gasoline bomb.
There are plenty of firearms left in Luanshigang, all of which were produced in gunpowder kilns and workshops for use by the Zong family army in times of war.
The Song army brought all their firearms to the top of Yixian Valley. Over 20,000 Song soldiers surrounded the small group of Jin soldiers at the bottom of the valley. Never before had the Song army fought so easily, and everyone was beaming. A game of cat and mouse began.
Wanyan Ang led his soldiers to rush out of the entrance several times, but was blocked by arrows, crossbows and stones every time.
The Jin soldiers were hungry, thirsty and in a miserable state.
One after another, black, round objects, sparking, rolled down from the top of the mountain.
As everyone was wondering, a round object rolled down to their side.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!..."
Thick smoke billowed and flames splashed everywhere.
The Jin soldiers were either blown to death or burned alive.
Some Jin soldiers were wounded by the explosion and lay rolling and crawling on the ground, groaning and crying. Some were on fire and running around. The valley was filled with flames and thick smoke.
The Song army on the mountain was filled with joy. Since the war with Jin had begun, they had never experienced such a satisfying fight. This was simply like closing the door to fight the dog. The Pingxiang army was even more energetic, throwing rocks and thunder bombs into the valley, killing and wounding the Jin soldiers below.
Dust and smoke billowed, and the flames and thick smoke made it impossible to open your eyes. Wanyan Quxian ran to Wanyan Ang and said, "Prince Yun, surrender!"
Wanyan Ang kicked him away and said, "Anyone who dares to surrender will be killed without mercy! Hide down the cliff, quickly! Quick!"
He was talking about the concave area on one side of the cliff in the valley, which was a blind spot where one could hide from the crossbows and firearms of the Song army.
Wanyan Ang was directing his soldiers to retreat down the cliff when he felt a chill on his back. He looked down and saw a long sword piercing his chest. He slowly turned back and saw Wanyan Quxun's right hand, gripping the hilt, trembling slightly.
Wanyan Ang still couldn't believe it. He slowly raised his head and looked at Wanyan Quxun. Quxun looked at him with some guilt: "Prince Yun, I'm sorry. If we don't surrender, we will all die here."
