Chapter 8 Mayor Selection
The atmosphere inside the naval base was extremely serious and solemn.
Everyone had a stern face and stood straight, even their uniforms became clean and straight.
However, the naval hero himself was in no mood to praise them.
He stood in the conference room, listening to a group of bandits sneezing and telling about their nightmare experience last night.
If they had not been lucky enough to encounter this returning warship, they would definitely have drowned in the sea.
Dadan blew her nose loudly. In the past, she was always scared when she saw Karp.
But now it feels like I have seen my backbone. Not only am I not afraid, but I feel very safe.
"That's all we know. I guess the man took advantage of us being drunk and threw us into the sea at 12 o'clock last night."
Dadan said angrily, "Just because we didn't get that weird ID card, we live in the mountains. Why do we need to get an ID card?"
She almost let the cat out of the bag and revealed her identity as a bandit in front of these navy men.
However, the navy did not pay attention to this detail. They felt that their brains were not enough to think about the affairs of the Goa Kingdom.
Aokiji sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, scratching his chin with his fingers, thinking distressedly.
"That sounds... unbelievable. Why would a pirate force others to get ID cards?"
"But this is also good news." At least Capt felt much relieved.
Makino and the village chief are both fine. From what Dadan said, it seems that as long as they cooperate, the pirate will at least not kill people or drive them off the island.
"Let's go, let's set off for the Kingdom of Goa!"
Garp greeted, and walked out of the conference room first, "Dadan, you guys come too!"

Today is the election day for the first mayor of Goa.
Everyone gathered in the square, surrounding a huge display screen.
Yale, who acts as the host, appears on the screen.
He sat on the king's throne, holding a microphone in one hand and a piece of paper with his campaign list in the other.
However, the high-definition camera was only focused on his face, and people could see his distinct eyelashes and even the shadows cast by his eyelashes under his eyes.
"Very handsome, isn't it?" He smiled smugly, obviously knowing exactly where the camera was.
"After all, I'm the most handsome pirate captain in the universe, hahahahaha!"
What a narcissistic psychopath...
The citizens looking at the screen thought so, and they didn't even know what expression to show.
"You planet natives are really rude."
Yale put away his smile. Even through the screen, his suddenly cold golden eyes were full of oppression.
Moreover, the metal ball that was patrolling in the square also floated in the air at the same time, its blue light turned red, and it stared at everyone threateningly.
"No hands? Do you need me to teach you how to clap and cheer? Or are you daring me to throw all of you into the sea?"
The citizens listened in fear.
After a few clever people started clapping, everyone followed suit and cheered.
Only then did Yale laugh again and nodded with satisfaction.
"That's right. Otherwise, I would really doubt whether you have evolved into intelligent creatures."
"Okay, quiet down." He pressed his hand down and the camera moved away.
"The mayoral election will now begin. Since this is the first time, I will select the candidates directly. The election will be repeated every five years. The registration requirements for those who wish to run will be sent to you later."
He called out a few names, and the people whose names were called walked nervously to the podium.
What surprised everyone was that not all of these people were of noble status. There were several ministers with good reputations, elders with considerable prestige in the town, and even the chief of Windmill Village among them.
However, former kings, princes and princesses were not on the list.
As for those nobles, once today's selection is over, they will be completely stripped of their noble titles.
"Why—this is a shady deal! A naked shady deal!"
An exasperated voice sounded.
A young man dressed in aristocratic clothes and with a bowl-shaped haircut rushed to the podium and bravely resisted Yale's dictatorship.
Yale raised his eyebrows.
The man on the screen held up his cheek and looked leisurely at the young man who seemed extremely small compared to the huge screen.
The gap between them seemed to materialize, but not so precisely.
If I have to say, the gap between Yale and this young man is the gap between a tiny ant on a planet and the vast universe.
"We are a member of the government! We nobles are protected by the government!"
The young man roared at the screen desperately, his heart-wrenching look as if Yale had taken away his whole world.
"I see your anger, Steli, poor you only have your nobility to show off, and now I take it away."
Yale smiled dully and raised a finger to point at the young man on the podium.
The young man was shocked that the man actually knew his name, and then he felt a huge force pressing down on him, forcing his legs to bend quickly and kneel to the ground.
The whole process takes less than a second.
In the eyes of the citizens, this aggressive young man did not even resist. He just knelt down on the ground smoothly when he saw Yale on the screen stretching out his hand.
Yale didn't even bother to look at him for fear of dirtying his eyes.
The poor guy was so frightened that he wet his pants.
"I've taken away so many things that people value—money, status, life, home. Those who dared to resist me died, and those who obeyed me lived a comfortable and healthy life. You should go to the sea to cleanse your brain, Stelly. No one has ever dared to talk to me like this."
"I... I was wrong - Wahh ...
Steli floated up, and he remembered the fate of those rebels yesterday. His face turned pale in an instant, and he waved his limbs to try to return to the ground.
"Father! Mother! Save me—save me, it's you who made me do this, it's you—save me, save me—I'm your only son, I'm your only—"
His desperate cries quickly faded away.
Staley's parents, an aristocratic couple, quickly waved their hands to explain and distance themselves from the matter.
"No, no, he's talking nonsense! We didn't encourage him at all!"
"That's right, that bastard is not our son. We adopted him. What an ungrateful person!"
The metal ball flew back.
It seems that Yale is too lazy to care about the truth of the matter.
The mayoral race resumed, with all candidates whose names were called speaking in turn.
The mayor of Windmill Village is quite nervous. He doesn't even know why he has a name, and he has never wanted to be mayor.
When he stepped down, the village chief didn't know what he had said.
Makino clapped his hands and exclaimed in amazement, "Well said, Village Chief! You will definitely be elected mayor!"
"What?" the village chief was puzzled.
"I don't even know what I said."
Makino repeated it to him in an impassioned tone.
"I'm going to lead you to a better life—that's what it is."
The village chief opened his mouth in shock, "I said that?"
Makino nodded.
All the villagers nodded.
The village chief was speechless. "Anyway, there's no way I can be the mayor."
…
He didn't become mayor.
Windmill Village is just a small village outside the kingdom town.
Residents in towns are more likely to vote for ministers they trust.
So in the end, with an absolute advantage of more than 5,000 votes, the old kingdom's minister Ackerman Fugil became the first mayor of Goa.
After turning off the screen, Yale threw the microphone away and lay lazily on the throne again.
"Oh, I really want to eat a devil fruit..." He smacked his lips. It was the first time he experienced the burning sensation of wanting to eat something but not being able to.
A metal ball suddenly floated over.
"Dear Captain Yale, the Den Den Mushi signal is now available worldwide. You can start the global live broadcast at any time."
More fun is coming!
Yale sat up and snapped his fingers, causing the metal ball to float in front of him.
A mirror appeared in the air.
He tidied his long red hair, looking a little distressed.
"Isn't this color too ordinary? Maybe I can change to a colorful one."
As he spoke, the color of his hair immediately began to change, with gorgeous colorful flows and changes like a flickering ball of light.
Yale frowned and turned his hair back to red.
"Never mind, let's just leave it at that—maybe I should adjust my facial features again? Never mind, let's just leave it at that, start the global live broadcast!"
"Got it!" The metal ball began to flash.
"Connecting to the global Den Den Mushi signal—"

As expected, the Kingdom of Goa disappeared.
Karp looked at the vast ocean in front of him with a frown.
This time, they sailed with extreme caution.
The navigators worked together and even equipped themselves with several compasses, for fear of making mistakes along the way.
But still couldn't find it.
The Kingdom of Goa is really——
“Waaaaaaaah—help—help!”
The shrill screams came from far away and got closer.
A black shadow rushed towards the warship at an extremely fast speed.
Aokiji changed his usual lazy state, stood up quickly, and raised an ice wall to freeze the incoming black shadow.
Soon, the ice thawed, and Staley, who was so frightened that he almost lost his mind, curled up on the deck, wrapped in a blanket, his body still trembling.
After an examination, the military doctor shook his head and said regretfully.
"No, he's in a state of extreme panic right now. It'll take a long time for him to recover."
Or maybe I'll go crazy forever.
The military doctor hid the second half of the sentence.
The only clue that could possibly have come from the Kingdom of Goa was broken again.
Garp sighed and looked at the ocean ahead again.
At this moment, the Den Den Mushi placed in the middle of the mast suddenly started chirping.
Everyone turned their heads to look, only to see it open on its own, its eyes projecting images so illusory that they were almost invisible.
"Go get the curtain!" Aokiji ordered.
However, the navy was in trouble and quite frightened.
"This Den Den Mushi doesn't have a projection function!"
Aokiji was stunned for a moment, looked at the Den Den Mushi in surprise, and shouted again: "Then go find white clothes and white sheets - now!"
The author has something to say:
