Chapter 7 Is it an old friend who has come?

Perhaps Jiao's mother had indeed discovered something, but ultimately, she couldn't bear to see the country suffer any loss.

“Mother, I am the world. In this world, you, Sanlang, and Erlang are my only family! I’m not lying to you. Since I was drowned, many things have entered my mind. I seem to have become smarter, but I’ve also forgotten many things. I don’t remember anything from before! Mother, don’t you like me now?”

Jiang Shan stared intently into Jiao's mother's eyes and asked with a wronged expression.

With trembling hands, Jiao's mother hugged Jiangshan tightly, uttered a tearful "My son," and then could say no more.

Jiang Shan held onto Jiao's trembling shoulders and said firmly, "Mother, no matter what, just remember that Jiang Shan is your daughter, someone you can always rely on!"

Jiao's mother isn't always so clear-headed; sometimes she acts foolishly, even calling Erlang for dinner for no apparent reason. But in Jiao Sanlang's words, she's much better now.

As long as Jiao's mother doesn't experience any major shocks, Jiang Shan believes her mental state will improve.

Three days later, Jiangshan made several more pastries, mainly with hawthorn, supplemented with yam and autumn pear, and then used some brightly colored wild fruits to make jam to enhance the color. The color, aroma and taste were just as good.

Without molds, she used bamboo of different sizes to carve various shapes, and then carefully trimmed them with bamboo strips, creating a unique and innovative style.

On the fifteenth of the month, she set off with a full load of snacks.

The first and fifteenth of each lunar month are market days, and the town is bustling with people coming and going.

Jiangshan's pastries sold out quickly; in less than an hour, only two packages of pastries remained in the basket, intended for the Yan family's patriarch.

Two servants approached to buy the two packages of pastries, but Jiang Shan refused, explaining that they were being given away for someone else.

One of the servants rolled up his sleeves, shoved Jiang Shan over, snatched the pastries from the basket, weighed them in his hand, and said disdainfully, "Don't you even know who I am? Buying your pastries is an honor for you. Don't push your luck!"

Jiang Shan, using the frame for support, got up, dusted himself off, and said with a stern face, "This is mine. I said I won't sell it, and I won't. Are you trying to forcibly take it from me? What, do you own this road? Even officials don't act this domineeringly."

The crowd began to murmur amongst themselves. Enraged, the servant threw the pastries into the basket and punched Jiang Shan.

The fist was stopped halfway through its swing. A young man in fine clothes shoved the servant aside and said coldly, "Whose wicked servant is so arrogant and domineering? Men, go and ask Magistrate Cao which deity is lording it over everyone here!"

The guard beside him responded and turned to leave.

Seeing that things were not going well, the two men turned and ran.

The onlookers joined in the commotion.

Jiang Shan sized up the young man in brocade robes and couldn't help but inwardly praise him!

She's incredibly beautiful, with skin even smoother than a woman's, and every feature is exquisitely sculpted. In modern times, she'd definitely be a social media influencer.

Jiang Shan has an instinctive fondness for beautiful people and things. Seeing that this young man in brocade robes had helped her out of a predicament, she stepped forward to express her gratitude.

Just as he took a step forward, a person rushed over from the side and pulled Jiang Shan aside without saying a word.

"Hey, Fu... it's you!" Jiang Shan laughed after recognizing the person.

Fu Zhi's face darkened, and he lowered his voice, speaking coldly, "Miss Jiang, my young master is not someone just anyone can aspire to. Please have some self-respect!"

Jiang Shan's smile instantly vanished. She withdrew her hand, stared intently at Fu Zhisheng's angry face, and said calmly, "I thought it was an old acquaintance, but I was wrong! If Young Master Fu has no further instructions, I will return now!"

After saying that, she turned around, walked up to the young man in brocade robes, picked up the basket from the ground without any expression, put it on her shoulder, and walked away without looking back.

She still had to deliver some snacks to the Yan family's pharmacy.

Fu Qiyuan watched Jiang Shan walk away, gave a slight smile, and shook his head.

Turning his head, he saw the servant Fu Zhi hanging his head and remaining silent, and asked with a smile, "Do you know that young lady?"

Fu Zhi waved his hand repeatedly, then nodded, glanced at his master, and said cautiously, "I rescued her in the countryside a few days ago. She... she is pregnant now, and it's not appropriate for her to show her face in public..."

Fu Qiyuan was somewhat surprised that such a young woman was already married and about to have a child.

Fu Zhi secretly observed his master's expression and carefully said, "Miss Jiang has a mentally ill mother-in-law and a sickly younger brother-in-law. The family has no property, and the villagers are also..."

Fu Qiyuan turned to look at Fu Zhi, waiting for his next words.

Fu Zhixin's heart skipped a beat, his eyes darted around, and he said, "That family is old, weak, sick, and young, and they are not well-liked by the villagers. After I saved her last time, I gave her ten taels of silver. If she can give birth to the child in her womb safely, it will be her good fortune..."

"Very good, it's rare to find someone with such a kind heart. It's worth the three years of painstaking teaching you!" Fu Qiyuan nodded in satisfaction.

Fu Zhi lowered his head even further.

"Let's go, let's go take another look at the county town!"

"Young master, aren't we going back? We've been away for over three months, and Madam has written again urging you to return!"

"Did you tell the master and madam about what happened last time?"

"No, no! I will remember what you have instructed, young master, and I would never dare to disobey you!"

"Remember, you must not reveal a single word to anyone until I have investigated the whole story!"

The master and servant walked one after the other. Fu Qiyuan, who was walking in front, suddenly stopped, turned around and looked at Fu Zhi. After hesitating for a moment, he asked, "That young lady... is everything settled?"

Fu Zhi froze, then nodded vigorously: "Reporting to young master, everything is settled. We've sent money, and we've informed everyone. No, no, no one will know...!"

Fu Qiyuan sighed softly and turned to walk forward.

"In the end, we were in the wrong and we let them down."

Fu Zhi quietly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and followed silently.

Not far behind them, two young men watched the backs of Fu Qiyuan and his servant, whispering among themselves.

"Impossible! He's a rich young master, with servants and guards. How could it be him!"

"But, Mingming and Brother Jiao..."

"There are so many people in this world who look alike, don't overthink it! Brother Chu and the others are still waiting for us, let's go!"

After delivering the pastries to Yan's Pharmacy, Jiang Shan carried some nourishing medicinal herbs that Old Master Yan had given her and walked back listlessly.

Fu Zhi today really made her angry.

Although he saved her when she was in danger and helped her when she was in the most difficult time, it does not mean that he can look down on her or humiliate her.

This is utterly baffling!

Thinking of this, her goodwill towards that young man in brocade robes plummeted, turning into a negative value.

Like master, like servant; that rich young master is probably no good either!

She must earn money as soon as possible and then pay back the money she borrowed from Fu Zhi, so that no one owes anyone anything!

Let's see who dares to underestimate her now!

"Fish for sale! Shrimp for sale! Fresh sea fish, shellfish, and prawns, two catties for one coin, cheap sale!"

A shout interrupted Jiang Shan's thoughts. She carried her load over and took a look, and then she was delighted!
