Chapter 1 Homeless

He tugged at Xiao Xin's trouser leg and handed him the half-eaten sausage in his hand: "Hey, big brother, don't cry, I'll give you my sausage, okay?"

Xiao Xin: "..."

Who would be so kind as to give away food they've already eaten to others?

Xiao Xin wiped away her tears and watched as the little boy's father came out of the store after paying the bill. She impatiently patted the little boy's shoulder and said, "Your dad's out. Hurry up and go home, okay?"

Are all kids these days so annoying?

He kept dawdling, saying he didn't have a father, while simultaneously giving him the food he had already eaten.

The little boy glanced at him longingly before walking toward the man, glancing back at Xiao Xin several times with lingering concern.

Xiao Xin stood rooted to the spot, staring blankly as the man approached.

The man smiled and handed him the sausage: "Young man, don't take what the little guy said earlier to heart. He said he upset you and asked me to buy you this as an apology."

Xiao Xin smiled helplessly and ruffled his hair: "It's okay, but promise your brother you won't say that again next time, okay?"

The little boy smiled brightly: "Then brother, please accept the sausage, and I'll take that as your forgiveness!"

Xiao Xin couldn't refuse, so he had no choice but to accept the sausage.

The little boy then followed the man away, relieved.

As Xiao Xin ate her grilled sausage, watching the backs of the father and son, tears welled up in her eyes again.

Today is his 25th birthday, but the only gift he received was a grilled sausage.

Xiao Xin held back her tears and finished the grilled sausage in a few bites.

Inside a car by the roadside.

The man sat in the back seat of the car, with waist-length hair and sunglasses perched on his high nose.

He pulled down his sunglasses, squinted at Xiao Xin, then winked at his assistant and pointed at Xiao Xin: "Go, give him a business card from our club."
