Especially now, with Xiao Xin not contacting him for almost two months, the unease in his heart has started to stir again.
He even began to doubt whether Xiao Xin still truly loved him...
*
The company had already given us a holiday on Chinese New Year.
After finishing his business at the company, Xiao Xin was the first person that came to Fu Yan's mind.
He took out his phone and checked it. Xiao Xin still hadn't contacted him. After thinking for a moment, Fu Yan decided to go to Xiao Xin's company and wait for him.
It's almost Chinese New Year, surely we can't be that busy.
He simply couldn't believe that Xiao Xin's company was so ruthless as to not even allow holidays during the Spring Festival.
When he drove straight to the entrance of Xiao Xin's company, it just so happened that it started snowing heavily.
Fu Yan parked the car on the side of the road, got out, and looked up at the heavy snow under the dim streetlights. His thoughts were immediately drawn back to the past.
Under the streetlights that year, after the two finished eating hot pot, he held Xiao Xin's hand and walked side by side with her along the roadside. It was snowing just like that.
Fu Yan took a breath of cold air, and his nose felt a little sore.
When he came to his senses, he realized that there were two people standing under the streetlight across the street. One of them was Xiao Xin, and the other had his back to him. Fu Yan did not recognize who it was.
The two stood face to face. Xiao Xin could see himself standing on the other side of the road with just a slight glance, but he didn't look in his direction. His gaze remained fixed on the tall, thin man opposite him.
Fu Yan was still pondering their relationship when, a second later, Xiao Xin grabbed his arm and pulled him into her arms.
Fu Yan's eyes widened immediately: "?"
The anger in his eyes seemed to melt the snow, but the two men were completely oblivious.
Seeing that the two showed no sign of separating, Fu Yan angrily punched the car body and walked towards them with a gloomy face.
As he approached, Xiao Xin felt a shadow loom over him. He looked up and saw Fu Yan, somewhat surprised. "What are you doing here?"
The man being held also sensed something was wrong. He turned his head and saw Fu Yan's cold and stern face, his eyes fierce as if he wanted to tear him apart.
When Fu Yan saw the man's unfamiliar and youthful face, a surge of lust rose within him.
He grabbed Xiao Xin's wrist and started to lead him towards his car.
The man followed, grabbed Xiao Xin's other wrist, and asked, "Brother Xin, who is he?"
Fu Yan turned around and gave him a cold look, her tone aggressive: "Get out."
Xiao Xin's wrist ached from Fu Yan's grip. He frowned and said to the man, "It's okay, you can go first."
Hearing what Xiao Xin said, the man didn't want to put him in a difficult position, so he let go of Xiao Xin's hand, bowed to him, and turned to leave.
Without saying a word, Fu Yan pulled Xiao Xin along, stepping through the snow to the luxury car across the street.
He opened the back door, released Xiao Xin's wrist, and stepped aside to make room for him. "Get in."
Xiao Xin glanced at him irritably and got into the car.
He didn't know what Fu Yan was up to again, but he wasn't in a much better mood himself.
When he was in a bad mood, Xiao Xin didn't want to talk, and he didn't plan to speak first until Fu Yan spoke.
After he was seated, Fu Yan also climbed into the back seat of the car.
The car's heater was on, which immediately dispelled much of the chill from my body.
Xiao Xin crossed his arms and turned to look out the window.
He wanted to see what Fu Yan was planning to do next.
Seeing that he wasn't going to explain, Fu Yan couldn't help but feel her eyes redden.
He took a breath, trying to calm the overwhelming emotions in his heart.
The two remained locked in this stalemate for two minutes. Fu Yan couldn't take it anymore, so he put his arm around Xiao Xin's shoulder and pulled her into his arms.
Xiao Xin was even more confused when he was hugged like that.
Fu Yan buried her face in his neck and shoulder, her arms around him tightening.
Xiao Xin's heart softened, and she belatedly realized that Fu Yan must have been jealous.
After all, he had been so busy for more than two months that he hadn't had time to pay attention to Fu Yan, and he felt a little guilty.
Thinking this, Xiao Xin reached out and hugged his waist, gently patting his back in preparation for an explanation.
He had barely opened his mouth when he felt a warm, damp sensation on the nape of his neck, so the words of explanation that were about to come out of his mouth changed to: "You cried?"
Upon hearing Xiao Xin's question, Fu Yan's tense emotions instantly crumbled, and tears streamed down her face.
Xiao Xin's heart tightened as she listened to his low sobs.
The belated explanation finally came: "That was my intern. He's been having some trouble lately, and he reminded me of my younger self, so I hugged him..."
"Stop talking." Fu Yan's eyes hurt from crying, and her voice was hoarse.
Xiao Xin wisely shut up: "..."
When Fu Yan saw that he really wasn't going to say anything more, he started to get anxious again.
But he didn't know why he was in such a hurry, so he simply spoke first: "Brother, have you really not thought about me at all in these three years?"
Xiao Xin was taken aback by his question: "I..."
"Does my brother still really love me?" Fu Yan's words were full of unease.
Xiao Xin: "What's wrong with you?"
Fu Yan sniffed, his voice choked with emotion, and said, "Brother, I'm actually very scared. I've been scared ever since I left you. I'm afraid you'll forget me when you wake up."
He wiped away his tears, leaned on Xiao Xin's shoulder, and continued, "I know no one will wait for anyone forever. I'm afraid that if I leave for too long, you'll forget that I'm with someone else, so I want to come back to see you as soon as possible."
"Brother, I've been so selfish. I've done so many things to hurt you, yet I still hope you'll continue to love me. But I'm afraid you won't forgive me..."
"For the past three years, I haven't spent a single day without living in fear."
As Fu Yan spoke, she broke into sobs, "I'm sorry, brother, I was so selfish, I'm so sorry..."
