Side Story 2: Year After Year

After Fu Yan officially took over the Fu family business, Fu Qingting planned to take Xiao Lin abroad to enjoy their own private life.

Fu Yan drove them to the airport, and Xiao Xin, who was free, went along as well.

In the back seat of the car, Fu Qingting held Xiao Lin tightly, constantly concerned about her condition. His sweet demeanor made him want the whole world to know how much he loved Xiao Lin.

Xiao Lin was quite reserved, constantly pushing away Fu Qingting's face as it leaned closer, glancing awkwardly at Fu Yan and Xiao Xin in the front row, "Don't do this, the children are still here."

Fu Qingting nestled against his shoulder and neck, "What are you afraid of? They're not outsiders."

The two officially started dating a year ago and are currently in the honeymoon phase, which is normal.

Xiao Xin sat in the passenger seat, seemingly oblivious to the two people behind him who were being all lovey-dovey, and felt a little embarrassed. He finally understood where Fu Yan got his clingy behavior from.

I never thought this could be hereditary...

Fu Yan, sitting in the driver's seat, found Fu Qingting's oblivious and affectionate behavior utterly baffling.

Because it was the first time he had seen the imposing Fu Qingting act so submissively...

As he drove, he would glance at Fu Qingting in the back every now and then and ask, "Dad, is Old Fu always like this?"

Upon realizing that Fu Yan was speaking to him, Xiao Lin smiled awkwardly, "No, it's not that. He only started acting like this after we began dating..."

Fu Qingting was displeased and looked at Fu Yan in the rearview mirror, "How can you call your father like that? You have no manners."

Fu Yan ignored him, wiped his face helplessly, and said to Xiao Xin, "I'm sorry, brother, I hope you can see how ridiculous I am."

Xiao Xin rested her elbow on the car window, her chin on the back of her hand, and glanced at him indifferently: "What's the big deal? Aren't you the same?"

Fu Yan's face showed a hint of embarrassment, and he shut his mouth.

The only sound in the car was Fu Qingting's affectionate chatter with Xiao Lin.

Half an hour later, the car finally arrived at the airport entrance.

Xiao Xin helped Fu Qingting and Xiao Lin take their suitcases, and Fu Yan drove the car to the parking lot.

When Fu Yan returned after parking the car, Fu Qingting and Xiao Lin were already queuing to have their tickets checked.

As Xiao Lin entered the ticket gate, he looked at Xiao Xin, who was seeing him off, and couldn't help but tear up. He turned around, hugged Xiao Xin, patted his back, and said, "Xiao Xin, be happy."

Xiao Xin had never been able to handle such emotional scenes. His nose tingled, and he patted Xiao Lin on the back, "Dad, I will, and so will you."

Xiao Lin leaned on his shoulder and nodded, "Okay, Dad believes you."

Xiao Xin glanced at the time and reminded him, "It's almost time, Dad, let's go in."

Xiao Lin released him, took a step back, and waved to him with a smile.

Xiao Xin was touched, her eyes reddening, but mainly she was moved that Xiao Lin was able to regain happiness.

Looking at his thin figure, Fu Yan took a step to stand next to him, put his arm around Xiao Xin's shoulder, and called out to Xiao Lin inside, "Don't worry, Dad, I will take good care of Xin Xin."

Xiao Lin nodded with relief, "Okay."

Having experienced many big events, Fu Qingting exuded a calm and composed demeanor. Just standing next to Xiao Lin gave him a strong sense of security.

He took Xiao Lin's hand, wiped away his tears, waved to the two people outside, turned around, and walked away with Xiao Lin in his arms.

After everyone left, Fu Yan pulled Xiao Xin into his arms, face to face.

Afraid that Xiao Xin would be sad because he couldn't bear to part with them, he gently patted the back of Xiao Xin's head to comfort him, "Brother, don't be sad. We'll go see them when we have time, and we'll meet again."

Xiao Xin leaned on his shoulder and couldn't help but laugh, "Who told you I was sad?"

Fu Yan pressed his shoulder, pulling him a little distance away, and raised his hand to wipe away the tears from the corner of his eyes with his fingertips, his tone doting: "How could you shed little pearls if you weren't sad?"

Xiao Xin was amused by his description. He slapped Fu Yan's hand away and scolded with a smile, "Idiot, that's because you were moved."

Fu Yan's eyes curved slightly. "As long as you're not heartbroken."

He then leaned closer to Xiao Xin's ear mysteriously, "Because I only like watching you shed little pearls on the bed..."

Xiao Xin pushed him away, "Childish."

Without giving Fu Yan a chance to react, he turned and left with his hands in his pockets.

After Xiao Xin finished her annual leave, she started working again, and in her busy schedule, she completely forgot about that wolf cub.

Fu Yan endured being neglected for almost two months, but because he was also busy, he could still bear it for the time being.

However, whenever he had free time, he would call or message Xiao Xin.

Without exception, Xiao Xin did not answer the phone or reply to any of the messages.

Moreover, he only replied twice, and both times the message was the same: "Busy, do not disturb".

Fu Yan sat in his office, threw his phone on the table, and irritably ruffled his hair.

He even had some doubts about whether Xiao Xin had really reconciled with him.

He has a feeling that he has been abandoned by Xiao Xin.

However, everyone here is an adult, and it's irrational for us to keep bothering Xiao Xin like this.

Therefore, Fu Yan naturally refocused his attention on his work.

Fortunately, the work progressed smoothly and did not require much effort from him.

During his time studying abroad, the intense work and study pressure did not break him; on the contrary, it helped him grow rapidly. After all, he learns things quickly, so now he can handle his work with greater ease.

Fu Qingting originally wanted to give him six years, but he compressed it to three years, just so he could come back to see Xiao Xin sooner.

So when he asked Xiao Xin if she had thought about him in the past three years, and Xiao Xin answered resolutely no, it would be a lie to say he wasn't disappointed.

Even though he knew Xiao Xin was lying, he still wanted to hear Xiao Xin say that he had thought about him, otherwise his restless heart could not be calmed.
