Chapter 43, Second Wave

The male newcomer held up the pen tremblingly, and finally gave up under the host's cold gaze, sweating profusely.

The largest number he wrote was 280.

Conventionally, there should be one server for every ten guests, but the number of servers on site is far from that density.

The man clearly realized he had fallen into a trap, but unfortunately, it was too late.

The floor beneath the ten people's feet turned into transparent glass. The newlywed male, seeing something, was so frightened that he immediately fell to the ground.

His limbs were weak as he tried to crawl out of the glass floor, but no matter how he moved, he just spun around in place, like a trapped beast. Although his mouth opened and closed and his face was covered in tears, no sound escaped; all his cries and pleas were swallowed up in an invisible cage.

Behind the host, a white screen suddenly opened, projecting the scenery beneath the glass panel—

The seawater was so blue it looked green, and small sharks swam around in it.

The atmosphere was solemn and heavy.

Everyone held their breath.

Then the whispers of the line figures came again, filled with nonchalant surprise and excitement, "Oh dear, there's even a punishment."

"It reminds me of the pranks played by upperclassmen at my university's freshman orientation party back then, haha, I miss those days so much!"

Basically, no one will be dissatisfied with this; on the contrary, they will be excited and motivated.

"Can't they... see the shark and that crying new uncle?" Cheng Shuang asked softly. She had noticed something was off that afternoon; the world the line people saw might be completely different from theirs.

Du Jun shook his head silently.

The host revealed the answer—there were 114 service personnel present (including the host and hostesses).

The five people closest to the correct number are three line figures, one protector, and the woman in the red dress.

The remaining people barely had time to scream before they fell into the water.

On the white screen, tearing, blood, and screams from the speakers created an atmosphere like falling into a nightmare...

Soon, the curtain was stained a deep red.

Cheng Shuang looked up at Du Jun, her sweet voice carrying a hint of heaviness, "The protection period for newcomers seems a bit useless!"

Du Jun patted the little girl's head again, without revealing his suspicions.

Because of the protection period, these newcomers are not easily killed when attacked, but they suffer in agony, unlike the little boy in the morning who lost his head and the pain in an instant.

"Haha, I won! I won!"

All three were very happy, but B7110 was particularly excited, so proud that he wanted to run around the whole place.

However, the host spoke up, "I'm sorry, esteemed guest B7110, but you have violated the game rules, causing unnecessary trouble and harassment to other guests. I have received a complaint, so your game qualification has been revoked, and you are requested to go to the meditation room to calm down for eighteen hours. During this period, all amusement rides will be closed to you."

"Wait!" B7110 shouted in dissatisfaction, "Who complained about me?"

It glared menacingly around, "You're all just jealous of me!"

The host maintained his smile, saying, "All the guests raised their hands to complain about your rude behavior."

As soon as it finished speaking, Cheng Shuang's right arm rose up without warning, as did everyone in the room—whether they were line figures or humans.

B7110 immediately wilted, muttering curses under his breath, and was forcibly taken away by two service personnel.

As the game ended, only one of the three newcomers who fell into the water managed to climb out. He was soaking wet and fainted as soon as he reached the shore. Although no wounds were visible to the naked eye, the extent of damage to his clothing indicated the severity of the attack he had suffered.

Almost simultaneously, medical staff in white coats appeared and carried the unconscious person away.

The newlyweds' panic had reached its peak.

They dared to show up at the welcome party because they relied on the protection period, believing that as long as they strictly followed the rules, they could survive. But the harsh reality taught them what despair truly meant.

Many newlyweds glared resentfully at the "elders," wondering why they would have risked attending this terrifying welcome party if not for the "elders'" persuasion.

Even if they were still alive, the horrific experience of being torn apart and devoured by sharks was tantamount to being worse than dead.

None of the 'old-timers' reacted to this indifferent gaze; they were more focused on the victor on the stage, clearly having anticipated the previous situation.

The lights came on, signaling the end of the first round of the lottery. The winner received nothing more than a marker to write the answers.

When the marker suddenly transformed into a card, the maintainers and the 'old folks' below the stage were filled with mixed emotions. The maintainers were relatively composed, but the 'old folks' all had bright eyes, because without any skills, the card was a lifesaver for them.

“Under certain rules, the host holds absolute dominance,” Lie Fu said with a resentful tone. “Therefore, it cannot be violated because it represents the rules.” He didn’t care where the woman in the red dress went after leaving the stage; even if she achieved a temporary victory, it didn’t prove anything.

"As expected, the more people there are, the more troublesome it becomes!" Kuroko sighed, casually grabbing a fruit tart from the waiter's tray and chewing it vigorously.

Not only did Lie Fu think of this, but anyone with a little experience immediately noticed the power the host possessed. Cheng Shuang also noticed that not far away, a tall, white-haired young man tugged at his bow tie in a fit of rage.

In such a stifling atmosphere, half an hour became exceptionally difficult to endure, with people frequently glancing at their watches.

Once the lights dimmed, the second round of the lucky draw began, with fifteen lucky guests being drawn.
