Cheng Shuang pinched the bridge of her nose, ready to act unilaterally, "Let's take the stairs!"
Her breathing stopped abruptly, and two pairs of frightened doe eyes looked at her.
The little girl shrugged. "If you stay in one place, you'll never find a way out."
"How about..." Yumi pointed cautiously upwards and asked, "Shall we climb the elevator shaft?"
"Forget it!" Qianli refused outright. "If the elevator starts moving, can you outrun the machine?"
Yumi pouted and remained silent, but from the fearful look in her eyes as she gazed outside, it was clear that she didn't want to step out of the light.
But soon, the light abandoned them; the elevator instantly lost its brightness, as if darkness had corroded the light.
Yumi didn't scream, which was already quite courageous; she simply collapsed against Cheng Shuang's back.
Cheng Shuang's strength barely reached the boy's limit. Facing a girl who was a size bigger than her, she was not brought down, which was entirely due to her usual well-trained nature.
Qianli quickly helped her up and gently scolded Yumi, "Calm down!" The boy's clear voice still trembled.
"Yuko, what...what should we do!" Yumi selectively ignored Chisato. Now, in her eyes and heart, there was only this little friend in front of her, who was thinner than her but like a pillar of support. She grabbed her arm and hugged her tightly.
Cheng Shuang sighed almost imperceptibly, "I can't move."
Qianli loosened his grip slightly, then firmly grasped the hem of her dress.
Cheng Shuang then took out a flashlight from her 'bag' and handed it to Qianli, who could at least help her stay calm. "I'll try pressing the elevator buttons again."
The attempt failed again, including the SOS button.
“Okay!” She grasped their hands and instructed, “Hold onto my belt and don’t let go.”
"I'd rather die than let go," Yumi replied, her voice trembling but unusually resolute.
"Set off!"
