Mr. Adolf Doyle's demeanor seemed completely out of place on this highly modern cruise ship.
He exuded the air of an old aristocrat, every move he made revealing a unique arrogance. His drawn-out tones and ornate language, even when he was in a wheelchair, gave him a haughty air of disdain for the common people.
But anyone with a discerning eye could see that Mr. Adolf Doyle must be in financial trouble, otherwise a distinguished nobleman wouldn't be wearing a faded suit to entertain guests.
But it's quite contradictory; if he were truly at his wit's end, how could he possibly have a dozen bodyguards protecting him?
"Could it be surveillance?"
The little girl asked in a suspicious, soft voice.
Du Jun shook his head and voiced his doubts, "These bodyguards don't look well either; they're just putting on a brave face!"
Since participation was not mandatory, many Line People were not very interested in the costume party and did not come to attend. In addition, the sharp decrease in the number of humans made the banquet hall seem a bit empty.
After counting them, there were fewer than fifty linear guests, almost the same number as humans. They wore strange makeup and carefully matched clothes, each with its own style, and they chatted and laughed in the banquet hall.
Cheng Shuang also saw two bunny girl models...
Those who merely wore masks were almost all on high alert.
The only white-haired man with a relaxed and carefree expression wandered around. His former close companion, Motoko Kai, stood with her arms around his shoulders, closest to the host. Of course, she was still protected by someone, but instead of Aona, she was now being protected by Tetsuro.
Cheng Shuang and Du Jun didn't find it strange. After all, their temporary team was also scattered and acting independently. There were too few humans, so being grouped together would only make them more conspicuous.
Surprisingly, the host, who had taken over the conversation, cheerfully announced the start of the banquet and then readily stepped down from the stage, without mentioning any games or raffles.
This made everyone breathe a sigh of relief.
Mr. Adolf Doyle and his bodyguards remained quietly in a corner of the banquet hall. The bodyguard beside him took the wine glass handed to him by the waiter, wiped the saucer with a handkerchief, and then handed the glass to him with both hands.
This sense of ritual is quite enticing; at least the guests avoided that corner with its unrestrained lines, showing considerable fear.
Hei Zishan strolled over nonchalantly and approached Du Jun and Cheng Shuang, "Should we go over and scout things out?"
Cheng Shuang scratched her face. "I don't think so, you see."
Du Jun raised his chin, gesturing for Hei Zishan to look into the corner. A woman, seemingly nonchalant, was actually cautiously approaching Adolf and his group.
"Why is it her?" Hei Zishan asked, puzzled. "Didn't she always act calm and collected, always telling her subordinates to go first when things got tough?"
"Didn't you see you broke up with your little brother? The new one isn't working well, so I have to do it myself!" Seeing Jie Suzi with her droopy eyelids and a 'you don't care if I talk to you, I don't care if I talk to you' expression as she went to try and get information from Adolf, Li Fu, who had quietly come over, gave a sarcastic comment: "Purely courting death!"
“She doesn’t seem like the type to act so rashly!” Du Junjun frowned slightly, released the little girl’s hand, and instructed her, “Take out the teddy bear. I have a feeling something strange is about to happen.”
Not to mention Du Jun, even Cheng Shuang sensed that something was wrong.
She summoned both the bear cub and the zombie monster. The little girl hugged one and wore the other, and slowly, slowly, moved away from Jie Suzi while holding Du Jun's hand.
"Shuangshuang?" Hei Zishan was having a heated discussion with Lie Fu when he looked up and saw Cheng Shuang pulling Du Jun back towards the banquet hall door. He asked in surprise, "The door won't open again, you..."
A sudden scream echoed through the banquet hall. Cheng Shuang looked up sharply and saw the tall, thin man behind Jie Suzi gripping the back of her neck, blocking the attacks of several slender waiters. His slender fingers, like sharp claws, pierced through Jie Suzi's heart.
As Iron Wolf savored the metallic taste of Jie Suzi's blood, a strange, satisfied smile appeared on his thin, numb face. "Be good, don't resist!" he whispered in her ear. "It won't hurt in a bit!"
That weird tone of his voice made him sound like a pervert.
Jie Suzi thought so too. She uttered two words on her deathbed, "Save me!" Her proud and disdainful eyes were filled with a desperate, twisted yearning to live. "Please, do whatever you want... anything, save me!"
Iron Wolf chuckled, his ordinary face breaking into a hearty laugh. "Save you?" He seemed unconcerned about the Line Man's attacks, using Jie Suzi to block whatever he could, and letting it hurt him as it pleased what he couldn't.
His face was contorted with rage, and his fingers clenched tightly without any mercy.
Jie Suzi's eyes rolled back; her injuries were too severe for her to hear his reply. Iron Wolf continued, "I've been waiting for this day for a long time. Ha, finally, you're free of dogs protecting you. You killed my child! You killed him!"
The last four words, a roar of anger and grief, shook the banquet hall.
With a snap, Jie Suzi died in agony, her head lolling to the side. Her body was covered in wounds, and it was unclear whether she ultimately died at the hands of the Iron Wolf or the Line Man. Only her eyes remained wide open, staring wide-eyed in death.
All of this happened in just a few seconds. Before anyone could react, they hadn't even seen how Motoko had upset the Line Art.
Iron Wolf knew Jie Suzi's capabilities well; he wouldn't give her a chance to save herself. As for Aona...
In another corner, the white-haired youth crushed his wine glass with a blank expression. His narrow eyes curved as he looked at Iron Wolf. Iron Wolf covered the wounds inflicted by the line-man attacks, his smile deep. Suddenly, under another attack from the line-man, his figure flashed twice like a power outage and disappeared.
Cheng Shuang stared in disbelief, "What kind of skill is this?"
“It’s not a skill!” Liefu said.
"It's a card! A card that can escape the cycle of reincarnation!" Kuroko Fan exclaimed. "I've only heard of it, I've never seen a card before!"
After getting an answer, the little girl immediately focused on another point, "Where are Adolf and his bodyguard?"
The group looked around and found that they had disappeared from the banquet hall. However, the matter was far from over. Tie Lang's departure seemed to have completely enraged Qing Nai. He had a cigarette in his mouth, his curved eyebrows flashed with blood red, and his expression was extremely calm, yet it was like the calm before the storm.
He quickly pulled out a fire-breathing tube, calmly opened it for the men, his smile cold and murderous, "Since that's how it is, then they'll all be buried with me!"
His light and weightless words produced a terrifying effect as he moved.
Fireballs were thrown at all directions of the banquet hall as if they were free, causing the cruise ship to tremble under the strain.
"Is he fucking crazy?" Kuroko cursed viciously. "Is Jie Suzi that important to him? I didn't see that at all!"
"Stop talking, stop him!" Lie Fu was about to rush over impatiently when Du Jun, with a serious expression, stopped him. "It's too late!"
At this moment, Cheng Shuang finally understood the power of the veteran. With his own strength, Qing Nai actually dismantled the cruise ship, and anyone who came near to stop him became a victim of his fire.
Seawater first surged in from the damaged area in gushes, and then eventually rushed in in large swathes, with the banquet hall on the first floor being the first to be affected.
