Yan Yan will be two years old soon. Now he can drink porridge and eat some easily digestible vegetables.
Since Hongli wasn't home tonight, Su Yushan had her nanny bring Yan Yan over so they could eat porridge together in her room.
She wouldn't let the nanny feed him, and specially prepared a small bowl and spoon for him to practice eating by himself.
Little Yan Yan carefully scooped up the porridge from the bowl with a small spoon, then slowly put it into his mouth. He thought the porridge smelled delicious and happily squinted his eyes.
"It smells delicious! Your Majesty, eat!"
Su Yushan taught him to call her "Mother," but he could only say "Empress." Every time, she would smile helplessly and correct him, "It's Mother..."
After dinner, Yan Yan played for a while before yawning and being carried back by the nanny. Su Yushan then began to wash and undress, went into her tent, and read for a while. She was also a little tired. Hongli had not yet returned, so she did not wait for him and lay down to sleep.
In her half-awake state, she vaguely heard noises, which must have been Hongli returning, but she was too sleepy to pay attention and continued to sleep.
Once inside the tent, Hongli wasn't sure if she was awake, so he called softly beside her shoulder, "Yushan, Yushan? Are you asleep?"
Su Yushan mumbled a confused "Hmm?"
She hadn't opened her eyes yet, and seemed not to be listening carefully. Hongli raised his finger and gently brushed it across her beautiful face. "Sleepy? How about we talk about it tomorrow?"
Su Yushan snorted softly and lazily opened her eyes. "You woke me up, and you want me to wait until tomorrow?"
If he didn't explain things clearly, he feared he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. After much thought, Hongli decided to be honest.
"Back then you asked me if I had something on my mind, and indeed I did have something I wanted to tell you. Do you remember when I mentioned to you that the danger I encountered in the southern suburbs wasn't the first time I'd been assassinated? Five years ago, I also encountered an assassin..."
As she listened to him recount what had happened in the past, Su Yushan's heartstrings tightened more and more. No wonder she always felt that the two of them were old acquaintances. It turned out that they had known each other for so many years, and that Nala had even saved his life!
If it were just about saving a life, then Hongli should have been able to say it easily. Why did he look so worried and preoccupied?
What is he worried about?
A certain possibility occurred to Su Yushan, and her heart sank. "What are you trying to say? Could it be... she's your white moonlight?"
