Chapter Fifty-Five: The Little Fairy

Hongli's gaze was fiery and intense, making no attempt to conceal his inner desires.

During this period, Su Yushan could clearly sense his love and care for her. He was like a young man in love, extremely attentive to her. People's hearts are soft, and it would be a lie to say that Su Yushan was not moved at all. But sometimes she couldn't help but wonder how long Hongli's passion could last.

When he likes her, she's a little enchantress who bewitches him; when he doesn't like her, she's a female ghost who haunts him constantly.

When this thought suddenly popped into her head, Su Yushan scoffed at herself for always having such inappropriate wild thoughts. She should just live one day at a time. If he ever changed his mind, she should continue to guard her own heart and live a peaceful life like before. Thinking too much wouldn't solve anything and would only add to her troubles.

Thinking of this, she closed her eyes, hugged Hongli tightly, and focused on feeling his bravery and strength, trying not to think about those messy things.

As the flames erupted and gradually subsided, Hongli did not release her immediately. Instead, he tenderly kissed her lips, slowly and gently, allowing her to savor the wonderful afterglow.

Neither of them spoke. She could clearly hear her own heartbeat. After a long while, she gradually calmed down and, recalling what he had just said, Su Yushan casually asked:

"Didn't you say there would be a reward if you guessed correctly? What's the reward?"

Gently pinching her smooth and delicate fingers, Hongli's eyes curved slightly as he chuckled, "I'll reward you with three times a night."

Su Yushan gasped, her eyes filled with fear. "That's not a reward, it's clearly bullying me."

His arm was serving as a pillow for her, but his hand could still move; with his wrist slightly bent, he gently stroked her delicate eyebrows with his fingertips.

What do you want?

Having finally gotten the chance, she naturally had to bravely express her wish: "I want to go out and clear my head."

As she spoke, she looked up at Hongli, only to see his smile fade and his gaze become distant, as if he had thought of something.

Seeing this, she immediately understood that Hongli must have remembered the incident when he met Zheng Lin on his last trip to the western suburbs, and guessed that he still harbored resentment.

Sensing that he might be a little unhappy, Su Yushan didn't press the matter and took the initiative to change her tone, "You've been quite busy lately, haven't you? If you're not free, then that's fine. I was just saying it casually, it's up to you whether you come or not."

Thinking back to the previous situation, Hongli pondered and said, "I am a bit busy, but I will try to make time."

That sounds like a perfunctory, empty promise. It seems there's really no chance!

Although she was somewhat disappointed, she knew very well that as a prince's maid, she shouldn't be wandering around. She had no right to complain about Hongli, after all, he also had his difficulties. She couldn't always act according to her own wishes and disregard his situation.

Su Yushan's greatest skill is self-comfort; only in this way can she maintain an optimistic attitude and not be bothered by trivial matters.

That evening, Hongli did not agree to anything, so Su Yushan thought it was impossible to leave the mansion to relax and didn't take it to heart. Unexpectedly, the next afternoon, when Hongli returned, he asked her to change her clothes, saying that he wanted to take her out of the mansion.

Su Yushan was pleasantly surprised but also curious. "Didn't you say you were very busy yesterday? How come you're free today? Why didn't you tell me beforehand?"

“I was going to mention it last night, but then I thought that if something came up today and I couldn’t be with you, and you had to wait all day for nothing, you would definitely be angry with me. So I didn’t mention it and decided to give you a surprise instead.”

That's true. For Su Yushan, surprises are far better than expectations.

Today was a cloudy and windy day. Su Yushan changed into a light green bamboo-patterned casual dress with a vest over it. Chang Yue tied a rosy cloak around her neck. After she was all dressed, she came out of the inner room.

As soon as she stepped out of the house, she saw a man standing at the doorway, draped in a long, gray cloak—undoubtedly Hongli. The ankle-length cloak accentuated his tall, slender figure. Hearing footsteps, Hongli turned to look at her, his eyes filled with tenderness.

"All done? Let's go."

Such a refined and otherworldly demeanor left Su Yushan stunned for a long while. Seeing this, Hongli took two steps back, took her hand, and asked in surprise:

Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something wrong with it?

Su Yushan then withdrew her unrestrained gaze and followed him across the threshold. "There's nothing wrong with it. If I think you're handsome, I can look at you a few more times. My man, can't I even look at him?"

Such a declaration of sovereignty was truly shocking. After a moment of stunned silence, Hongli was secretly delighted and teased, "It's not just something to look at, it's something to eat too!"

He made another crude remark, and Su Yushan glared at him, not daring to say anything more, lest he tease her again.

Once inside the carriage, she was filled with curiosity about the journey ahead. "Where are we going today?"

Hongli smiled mysteriously, without saying anything, but said that he would know as soon as he arrived.

Su Yushan pouted, clearly displeased. "You're keeping me in suspense again. Couldn't you have told me beforehand?"

"Want to know?" Pointing to his cheek, Hongli's lips curled slightly, seizing the opportunity to threaten, "You know what I mean."

"Using this trick again?" Su Yushan snorted in dissatisfaction, feigning ignorance, "I don't understand, I'm very stupid."

With a slight brow twitching, Hongli shrugged indifferently, "Whatever, I'm not in a hurry."

Enraged, she moved closer to him, leaned close to his ear, puffed out her cheeks, and warned fiercely, "If you don't tell me, I'll bite you!"

For him, this was not a threat; on the contrary, he was looking forward to it.

Seeing that he wouldn't give in, Su Yushan steeled her heart and actually raised her head to bite his earlobe. During this time, her soft tongue inevitably touched his earlobe, causing Hongli to hiss softly. His blood rushed to his head, and he grabbed her and lifted her up by the waist.
