Sixtieth Avoidance Soup

Sensing his intention, Su Yushan deliberately changed the subject, saying, "You should drink some herbal tea." As she spoke, she prepared to leave the tent to pour him some tea.

"I don't want tea, I want you." Hongli held her tightly, turning his head to kiss her lips, a passionate and lingering kiss. Su Yushan, afraid he would have other ideas, pushed him away, letting out a soft moan.

"It's not convenient today, I'm on my period."

"Your period is here again?" Hongli was immediately disappointed and sighed deeply. "I've been trying every day, but why aren't you pregnant? I want a child, why is it so difficult?"

Su Yushan never desired to be pregnant. After all, Hongli had so many women, plenty of maids willing to bear his children.

"Isn't Sister Gao pregnant? She'll give birth in a few months, and then you'll have a child."

He was naturally happy that Gao Xiuwen was pregnant, but it was a natural occurrence, not something he had hoped for. He only had hope when he was with Su Yushan. "But I want a child that belongs to us."

He wanted to have children, but Su Yushan didn't want any. She would take medication after each pregnancy, so it was impossible for her to get pregnant.

Chang Yue was unaware of this matter, as was Hongli. Su Yushan was worried that he would blame her, so she did not tell him. She only gave a vague, dry laugh and said, "Who can say for sure about such things? Let's leave it to fate!"

She was menstruating and unable to serve him, so she asked him to go to another maid. However, Hongli had no such intention. "Do you think I came to Huatang Pavilion just for matters of love and lust?"

"What else could it be?" He tormented her almost every night, full of energy, and she could hardly think of any other reason.

Her question truly hurt him: "If it were just about love, I could easily find any woman. Why would I come to you?"

This question was a bit profound. With a slight shift in her gaze, Su Yushan helplessly spread her hands, "How could I possibly guess what you're thinking?"

Can't she think more deeply with that little brain of hers? "You know perfectly well, but you're pretending to be stupid."

She knew what he was implying, but she didn't want to take herself too seriously. She blinked her starry eyes and shook her head, "I'm stupid, I don't know anything."

There were some things he didn't say intentionally, thinking she would sense them, but she kept changing the subject and refused to give a direct response.

Left with no other choice, Hongli had to clearly state his feelings, "Because I like you, do I have to say it to you in person for you to understand?"

As he spoke, he kissed her lips fiercely as punishment.

"Mmm..." His kisses were always so intense and passionate, catching her off guard. Su Yushan sobbed and tried to push him away, but she managed to break free with great difficulty. Her breath was rapid and her face was flushed. She composed herself and said shyly, "..."

"Didn't I tell you? It's inconvenient when you're on your period."

The faint scent of jasmine wafted from her hair. He lingered on her neck, reluctant to let go, and said gently, "I'll just kiss you once, I won't do anything else."

That sounds nice, but I'm afraid he won't be able to stop himself when the time comes. "What if you start to feel something? Won't it be painful to hold it in? Why make yourself suffer?"

If this continued, he feared he might truly develop feelings for her. The pain of suppressing his emotions was indeed unbearable. Thinking of this, Hongli finally released his grip and stopped making a fuss.

"You must be feeling unwell during your period, right? I won't tease you anymore, just lie down and rest!"

As he spoke, he lay down next to her again, seemingly with no intention of leaving. Su Yushan immediately felt uneasy. "Oh, the nanny instructed that if you have your period, you cannot stay here overnight."

"What do you mean 'cannot'?" Hongli, his face still pale, retorted loudly, "Who's in charge of this household? I can sleep wherever I want; do I need a servant to tell me what to do?"

“But Granny says it’s the rule, and I’m worried she’ll start nagging again.”

There is such a rule, but Hongli never took it to heart. "She's just saying it, and you can just listen to it. If she causes you trouble, just push it to me. There's no need to worry about it."

Since he had said so, she no longer needed to hold back. "Alright! I'll listen to you. You're the boss, and the nanny definitely won't dare to scold you."

With his sharp ears, he automatically ignored everything else and only caught one word: "What's big about me?"

Startled for a moment, then meeting his malicious smile, Su Yushan realized what he was thinking. Her face flushed red, and she quickly clarified:

"I said you have the highest status in the household, what are you thinking!"

The two chatted and joked, and laughter could be heard from inside the tent from time to time. After making a ruckus for a while, seeing that she was really sleepy, Hongli finally let her go, stopped joking, and went to sleep.

The afternoon sun cast its rays across the ground, and the aster in the flowerbed swayed gently in the breeze. The fragrance of the flowers drifted into the room through the gaps, quietly entering your dreams.

Since Su Yushan had not conceived, Hongli thought of asking a doctor to come and examine her and give her some treatment.

Su Yushan knew her own body very well; she had no problems at all. But to put Hongli at ease, she had no choice but to cooperate symbolically.

After taking her pulse, the doctor said some things she couldn't understand, and then wrote a prescription. The prescription was written in a flamboyant style that she couldn't decipher, so she didn't ask any questions.

A quarter of an hour later, a young apprentice arrived at Huatang Pavilion to deliver the medicine. "The medicine is ready. Where is Princess Su?"

“The princess went to the back garden to admire the chrysanthemums and isn’t in the room right now,” the maid Dai’er asked curiously. “What kind of medicine is this?”

The young apprentice truthfully replied, "This is a fertility-enhancing medicine prescribed by the doctor. Fourth Master specifically instructed that Su Gege should drink a bowl of it after each dose to help her conceive."

Upon hearing this, Dai'er couldn't help but feel puzzled. "My princess has been taking fertility-enhancing medicine! There's still plenty left in the house! Why are you opening more?"

"Really? Su Gege didn't mention that!" The young apprentice was surprised and asked her to bring out the original fertility-enhancing medicine to see if it was the same one.

Normally, Changyue would attend to Su Gege, while Dai'er would only do odd jobs. However, she had seen Changyue take medicine before and knew where it was kept, so she went into the room to get it without asking her mistress.

The apprentice medicine boy had been learning from his master and had some knowledge of medicine. After taking the medicine from Dai'er, he looked at it carefully and felt that something was wrong.

However, he did not say it explicitly, but instead told Eunuch Li about it.

Upon learning that there was something wrong with the medicine, Li Yu dared not be careless and hurriedly took him to see his master.

At that time, Hongli had just finished dealing with state affairs and was practicing calligraphy. Upon hearing the young apprentice's words, his brows furrowed slightly, his eyes filled with doubt.

"You mean that's a contraceptive soup?"

"Your Highness, I have been learning medicine from my master for three years, and I can confirm that it was indeed a contraceptive decoction. This pregnancy-enhancing medicine is clearly different from the contraceptive decoction." As he spoke, the apprentice placed both medicines on the table. Hongli glanced at them and his heart sank.

Dai'er said it was a fertility-enhancing medicine, but the apprentice said it was a contraceptive soup. Logically speaking, the apprentice had no reason to lie, so who was lying? And did Yu Shan know the truth?

The more Hongli thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed. Once a person becomes suspicious, they want to verify their guesses.

After sending the medicine boy away, Hongli immediately ordered Li Yu to invite Su Yushan over to find out what was going on!
