"But that's not allowed."
With a slight lift of his long eyelashes, Hongli looked at her with unusually firm eyes. "Whether it's approved or not doesn't matter. I believe you. This is your child and mine. I know it better than anyone. As for the truth about the blood test, you and I can keep it to yourselves. Don't let a third person know about this."
Standing outside the curtain, Li Yu trembled and raised his hand shakily, "Master, this servant... this servant thinks he knows too..."
The two of them were clarifying their intentions! What was this brat doing interrupting? He had absolutely no sense of propriety! Hongli turned his head impatiently, frowned, and angrily shouted, "Get out!"
Startled, Li Yu quickly agreed, "Yes, this servant will get lost."
As the footsteps faded into the distance, Hongli continued, "If Mother believes it to be true, she will no longer doubt it. This is good for you and the child."
While Consort Xi's attitude towards her was important, she cared even more about Hongli's opinion. "And what about you? Don't you have any doubts?"
Shaking his head, Hongli gazed into her eyes and said with absolute certainty, "I believe in your character and in my judgment of people. Without a doubt, this is our child."
His voice, like a spring, flowed quietly into her heart, healing the cracks within. Silently recalling the whole incident, she grew increasingly distressed. Tears she had held back for so long finally spilled from her eyes, unstoppable.
Upon seeing this, Hongli panicked and reached out to wipe away her tears. The warm tears traveled to his fingertips, and he seemed to feel her pain, which made him even more heartbroken.
“I’ve already explained everything to you, so why are you still angry with me? If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me, and I’ll tell you the truth.”
Sobbing, Su Yushan shook her head and said in a trembling voice, "I'm not angry with you, I'm just angry with myself."
This left Hongli completely bewildered. "Who gets angry at themselves?"
"Because I hate being misunderstood, but I misunderstood you. I got angry with you without asking clearly, so I'm angry with myself. I shouldn't have done that."
So that's what it was about! Hongli comforted him gently, "This isn't your fault. It's my fault for not explaining things clearly beforehand, which caused you to misunderstand."
Sniffling, Su Yushan burst into tears, "But you...you were thinking of my health, so it's not your fault."
Hongli quickly chimed in, "Yes, you're right, don't blame me."
"Then you should blame me!"
“Yes…” Hongli had just nodded when he felt something was off and immediately shook his head in denial. “No, it’s not your fault. Neither of us is at fault. It’s just a misunderstanding. We’ll clear it up.”
She cried for a while before she calmed down a bit and discussed it with him, "From now on, you must tell me in advance if anything happens. I don't want to misunderstand you again. This feeling is really hard to bear." She still felt guilty when she thought about it.
After a moment of careful consideration, Hongli cautiously asked, "But sometimes, when we are forced to tell a white lie, what if we have no choice?"
Su Yushan could understand this situation. "Well... small things are fine, but big things are not. You decide for yourself. In short, try not to hide anything from me."
Seeing her red nose, wet eyelashes, and tear-streaked face, Hongli's heart softened completely, and he could no longer bear to go against her wishes. "Okay, I promise you, I will try my best not to hide it from you."
The reason he didn't dare to agree too definitively was because there was something he had to keep from her.
However, given the current situation, he didn't want to mention that unpleasant thing in front of her. Because her tearful face was delicate and pitiful, he couldn't help but slowly lower his head and gently wipe away her tears with his soft lips.
