Chapter Seventy: The Birth of Liu Liu

As time seemed to blur, Yi Hua felt a tearing pain in her lower body. For a moment, she didn't know what year it was, whether she had really lived in the Qing Dynasty for six years, or whether she had returned to the beginning of everything.

Seeing that Yihua's eyes were somewhat unfocused, the midwife pinched her without hesitation: "Please forgive me, Your Highness, you can't let your mind wander at a time like this. Concentrate, let's push! Push harder!"

Pain is a good medicine to keep you awake. Following the instructions of her midwife, Yihua gave birth to a daughter with great difficulty just as dawn broke.

She weighed 6.6 jin (approximately 3.3 catties) and was a slightly chubby little girl.

After taking care of Yihua's body, the midwife washed her hands and immediately came out of the inner room: "This servant congratulates Your Highness on the arrival of a new little princess."

"How is the Princess Consort?"

"Production has drained my energy, and now I'm asleep."

"Good, good, good." Yinzhen was overjoyed with his daughter who came to greet the rising sun. He was about to say that he would reward her with half a year's salary when he suddenly noticed the cautious looks in the eyes of the servants around him and understood. "Su Peisheng, reward the entire main courtyard with a year's salary."

This is his daughter, and she is treated with the same esteem as his son. He absolutely forbids any servants from treating her differently!

“Granny Chen, the little princess has just been born, and the Fujin is not in good health. You must take good care of her and report back to the front courtyard immediately if anything happens.” Yinzhen emphasized, and said to Physician Jiang, who had been sitting all night, “I trouble Physician Jiang to take the Fujin’s pulse.”

"This is my duty." After drinking cold tea all night, Physician Jiang moved his stiff body. He first warmed his hands by the stove to warm them up, then checked on the sleeping princess and nodded in satisfaction. He then took Yi Hua's pulse through the gauze curtain.

After a short while, Physician Qin knelt neatly before Yinzhen and reported, "Your Highness, the little princess is doing well. She has mild jaundice, but getting some sunshine will help."

"However, the Princess Consort has suffered a great loss of vitality this time, and her body is severely depleted. She needs to recuperate properly, and it would be best if she did not conceive again for the next few years. Otherwise... it would be detrimental to her lifespan."

"You dare to say anything." Yinzhen raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. Did he know what it meant for the women in the prince's harem not to have children? He had just stated such a thing without any embellishment.

The imperial physician, still kneeling, continued, "I have been observing this all night. Your Highness values your wife more than your children; you are a man of deep feelings. That is why I dared to offer my advice."

"Get up, don't kneel. The Princess Consort and the Little Princess rely on your medical skills. Don't catch a cold at this time." Yinzhen admitted in his heart that he valued Yihua, but hearing it from someone else's mouth made him feel a little hot.

Yinzhen glanced at the sleeping Yihua and the little princess lying sprawled beside her from afar, then returned to the front courtyard, where two more children were waiting for him.

Su He dared not hide it and immediately sent a message to Su Peisheng.

Su Peisheng quickly reported back to Yinzhen that it was indeed an accident that Honghui woke up in the middle of the night. It can only be said that the mother and son are of one mind, and the son has a feeling that the mother is suffering.

Inside the small Buddhist hall, Honghui saw that the eldest princess had been kneeling for a while, her body swaying precariously but still trying to hold on. He was worried about her health and knew that this was wrong, so he returned to his bedroom.

This was the first time the eldest princess had stepped into this place. Honghui had the servants bring new quilts for the eldest princess to cover herself with to keep warm, and lit several more stoves. The two siblings drank a cup of hot milk tea and slowly fell asleep together.

Seeing that the masters had finally fallen asleep, the servants dared not move them easily. As it was getting bright, the eldest prince would be washing up and going to the palace in another hour or two.

Thus, when Yinzhen arrived at Honghui's courtyard, he saw the siblings leaning on each other.

Perhaps subconsciously worried about Honghui, the eldest princess loosely wrapped her arms around him, and Honghui leaned on her shoulder, drooling.

Shaking his head, Yinzhen carefully picked up his daughter around the waist and gestured for Su Peisheng to carry Honghui to the bed inside the house. He covered the eldest princess completely with his cloak and carried her back to her courtyard. He stopped the servants who wanted to bow with a look and gently placed her on the bed.

"Don't wake your princess in the morning, let her sleep a little longer."

"yes."

Back at Honghui's place, he wasn't as soundly asleep as the eldest princess; he had already woken up.

"Father, Honghui has a younger sister, right?" Su Peisheng had already told Honghui the good news. Knowing that his mother was alright, Honghui shook off yesterday's depression and regained his usual energetic self.

"Does my little sister look like her mother?" Honghui asked curiously. He wanted to go and see her now, but he was afraid of disturbing his mother's rest.

Yinzhen nudged Honghui's shoulder: "It looks a lot like him. Go back to sleep. Your father will ask for leave for you in the Imperial Study today."

Honghui rubbed his eyes. He was indeed very sleepy. He had been under a lot of mental stress all night, and now that he was relaxed, he just wanted to sleep. He didn't expect his father to be so considerate.

Seeing that Yinzhen's joyful expression was genuine, Honghui was completely relieved and fell asleep immediately.

When Yihua woke up, she saw Honghui gently pushing the rocking chair and occasionally leaning close to whisper to the doll inside.

Lady Ulanara was the first to notice that Yihua had woken up. She quickly stepped forward and put a pillow behind her back so that she could sit up comfortably.

"The little princess is in excellent health, weighing six pounds and six ounces, even heavier than Prince Honghui was back then." Lady Ulanara smiled broadly. She had a bunch of sons before finally having her little darling Yihua. She herself loved girls very much, and she thought her granddaughter was the best of everything. Even her granddaughter's burp was beautiful.
