Seeing that Lin Mo finally woke up, Su Mu could no longer contain his excitement. He rushed to the bed, his eyes filled with tears of joy.
He wiped his tears while smiling, "Ah Mo, you finally woke up, you scared me to death. Don't do this next time, understand?"
Lin Mo looked at Su Mu crying and felt extremely heartbroken. He slowly stretched out his hand to wipe the tears from his face, but his outstretched hand stopped in mid-air for no reason.
He could no longer tell whether this was a dream or an illusion. A tear silently flowed from the corner of his eye and he spoke in a trance.
"Is this my dream? Because I missed you so much, you appeared in my dream, right?"
Su Mu cried even harder, no sound came out of her throat, and tears had already covered her entire face.
He kept sobbing and shaking his head. He wanted to tell Lin Mo that this was not a dream, that he was really back.
Su Mu quickly reached out and took Lin Mo's helpless hand, holding it in his own palms, and told him urgently.
"Amo, this is real, it's not a dream, you are back."
Lin Mo was suddenly choked with sobs and couldn't speak, tears rolling in his eyes. Su Mu leaned over and hugged him, and the two hugged each other and cried together.
After a long time, the two finally calmed down.
Lin Mo looked at his short-haired self in the mirror, and then he realized that he had really returned from there.
At this moment, Su Mu in front of him looked more mature than before, about thirty years old. Lin Mo couldn't believe that it felt like ten years had passed here in just one day since he left.
Su Mu supported him and brought him to the old yard. None of the furnishings in the house had changed, except that it didn't look as new and clean. The pear tree in the yard had grown taller, and its trunk had grown two times larger.
Lin Mo's eyes flashed with some mist, and he asked in a somewhat sad voice: "How long have I been gone? What happened during this time?"
He clearly remembered that when he walked out of the valley, the village was in ruins, and even the house was tinged with desolation.
Su Mu straightened Lin Mo's collar, neither hurriedly nor slowly, and said in an unusually calm tone, "Eleven years have passed here, and our children have grown up and started their own families.
The villagers in the village all started to make money and moved out over the years.
Tang Jie took his second brother, Awen, to see a doctor and moved the factory there. Xiao Wu and his family would occasionally return with their children, but they would only stay for a day or two before returning to business.
The eldest brother and his family went to the imperial city, Fan'er became an official, and they followed him to enjoy a peaceful life.
Tang Lege was the first family to move out of the village. He married a stepmother for his two children, but she didn't like the remote mountain area, so she decided to move the whole family to the more affluent Jinlai Town.
Lin Mo was stunned. He didn't expect that after just over a day since he returned, earth-shaking changes had taken place here.
Lin Mo asked distressedly: "Why don't you go with them? Why do you stay alone in this deserted village..."
Su Mu looked towards a place in the house with gentle eyes. Lin Mo followed his gaze and the first thing that caught his eye was a tablet with his name on it.
It was clearly written on it: The spirit tablet of Aifulinmo!
Lin Mo's heart was shocked, what!
"Mu Mu, I..." Lin Mo didn't react for a while, and felt the words in his throat were swallowed back.
Su Mu raised his head slightly, not wanting the tears to flow out, and spoke in a calm and composed manner.
"After that breakfast, you collapsed to the ground and passed out. We called a doctor to see you, but he said there was no hope."
Having said that, Su Mu secretly wiped away her tears, then forced a smile and continued speaking.
"Not long after, you fell into a deep sleep, never to wake up.
Your family held a funeral for you and buried you on the hillside behind the mountain. The 19th day of the third lunar month is your death anniversary."
Lin Mo hugged Su Mu in his arms distressedly, and said in a choked voice: "I'm sorry for making you suffer for the past eleven years, Mu Mu. It's my fault."
Su Mu buried his head in Lin Mo's chest, hugged him tightly, and felt the familiar scent on his body.
Lin Mo's trembling voice rang in his ears: "Silly, why don't you go with them? It's not worth it to stay here alone..."
"Because you are here, I want to stay with you." Su Mu said gently, as if from the moment he saw Lin Mo again, all the waiting was worth it, and he had no regrets.
"Amo, do you still remember telling me that you are not from this world? I always believed that you would come back, and I finally waited for you." Su Mu showed relief on his face.
That day, Lin Mo appeared at the door of the house covered in blood. When Su Mu came out and saw him, he had already fainted and was seriously injured.
Su Mu was very surprised and very happy. He thought Lin Mo no longer existed, but he didn't expect that he was back by his side.
He didn't know how he got here, how he got the injuries on his body, and he didn't know whether he would live well in the past eleven years.
After a month of Su Mu's careful care, Lin Mo finally woke up. His hope never faded because he believed that Lin Mo would come back to find him.
The two of them reminisced about the past in the yard, talking about what they had done while each other was away.
Gradually, the lives of the two seemed to return to what they were before, peaceful and stable.
