Extra Chapter 7 Something's Wrong

“The eighteenth generation successor, Zhao Mingyue…” she murmured.

As her voice faded, the information about the inheritance space in her mind became clearer.

This space is not just for storage and planting; it's more like an independent little world with its own rules.

That jade pendant is the key to controlling this world.

She tried to immerse her spiritual energy into the jade pendant, and the ancient lotus pattern on the pendant seemed to come alive, emitting a soft light.

She felt that her range of perception was expanding infinitely.

She could "see" Gu Xichen interrogating the skinny monkey in the yard, "hear" every word he said, and even "feel" his inner fear.

She could "see" in the main room again, where her father was holding her grandmother's hand, and her grandmother was radiating deep sorrow.

This feeling is so amazing, it's like having a God's-eye view.

She continued to extend her mental energy outward, passing through the courtyard wall, over the woods, and probing towards the outside of the valley.

Every blade of grass, every tree, every bird, and every beast in the valley was vividly present in her mind.

This capability is simply super reconnaissance aircraft!

She felt even more confident about tonight's operation.

With a thought, she stepped out of the space and took a deep breath.

The sky gradually darkened.

No one had much of an appetite for dinner, and they ate only a few bites.

Gu Xichen found a few inconspicuous old clothes outside and had Jiang Junrong and Jiang Jinxiu change into them.

"Places like the Peace Hotel are crowded and attract a lot of attention, so we can't draw too much attention to ourselves."

As he spoke, he handed Jiang Jinxiu a small, sharp dagger: "Take this for self-defense."

Jiang Jinxiu took the dagger and skillfully concealed it in her sleeve.

Jiang Junrong also changed into a drab gray Zhongshan suit and put on an old hat that covered most of his face.

He looked at his unfamiliar reflection in the mirror, but his gaze grew increasingly resolute.

Everything is ready.

Gu Xichen pulled the skinny monkey out of the woodshed and untied the ropes binding his feet.

"Remember what I told you."

Gu Xichen's voice was cold: "Take us to find the person, and you'll live. If you dare to play tricks, I guarantee you'll suffer worse than death."

"No, no, I absolutely wouldn't dare!" Skinny Monkey's legs went weak with fear, and he kept promising.

"Let's go."

The three men escorted the skinny monkey out of the gate of Zhao Family Village.

The night was as dark as ink, and a mountain breeze carried a hint of coolness.

Instead of driving directly to the town, Gu Xichen parked the car behind an abandoned earthen slope a mile or two away from the town.

The night was deep, and even the moonlight was reluctant to hide behind the clouds.

"We need to walk past here. The Peace Hotel is at the very back of town. That place is a mixed bag, so we can't be too conspicuous."

Gu Xichen pulled out the key, his voice low and clear in the quiet night.

Jiang Junrong nodded silently, his eyes burning with the flames of revenge, but fortunately he was calm and patient.

The three men escorted the trembling, skinny monkey along a dark country road.

The town was small and had long since fallen asleep, with only a few dim streetlights flickering weakly in the cold wind, casting long, thin shadows like wandering ghosts.

The Peace Hostel, a dilapidated three-story building, finally appeared at the end of the alley.

The red paint on the two characters "Peace" was peeling off, leaving only half of it. Under the dim light of the only bulb at the entrance, it exuded an indescribable eeriness and desolation.

"He...he said he's in room 301...waiting for us."

The skinny monkey's voice was so faint it sounded like a mosquito's hum, and his teeth chattered.

Gu Xichen glanced at him, then looked back at the dark entrance of the inn, her tone completely calm.

"You go in first, and knock on the door as we told you. We'll follow you."

"Me...I'm all alone?"

Skinny Monkey's face instantly drained of color, and he pleaded with a mournful expression, "Big Brother, what... what if he finds out I brought men..."

Gu Xi-chen's eyes turned cold. He didn't even glance at the skinny monkey, but simply uttered a few words.

"Then you'll be the first to die."

These words, though not harsh, were like a knife chilled to the bone, instantly piercing the skinny monkey's heart.

The skinny monkey trembled all over and dared not utter another word.

His will to survive overcame his fear. He swallowed hard, and as if he were going to his execution, he moved towards the hotel door, glancing back every few steps. Finally, he steeled himself, pushed the door open, and slipped inside.

The moment the skinny monkey disappeared through the door, Jiang Jinxiu, who had been silent all along, felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.

Her pupils suddenly contracted, and she grabbed Gu Xichen's arm, her voice urgent and soft.

"Wait! Something's not right!"

"What's wrong?"

Gu Xichen immediately became alert and grabbed Jiang Junrong, who was about to follow.

Jiang Jinxiu stared intently at the dark entrance of the Peace Hotel, her brows furrowed.

"There's...something wrong inside."

She lowered her voice and said, "I can't sense the presence of Feng Jingui that the skinny guy mentioned. Instead, there are several malevolent auras lurking around. They're mixed, chaotic, and have a bloody smell."

Since merging with the inherited space, her perception has reached an unbelievable level.

She can clearly "smell" the unique aura of each person.

A person like Feng Jingui, who has accumulated decades of resentment and malice, should have a very strong aura, but now, there is none at all in the inn.

It's like a hunter who meticulously sets a trap, only to find that the prey never comes, but instead a pack of ill-intentioned wolves appears.
