Chapter 206 His Attentiveness Towards Her
Su Jin took a deep breath, trying to calm her anger and agitation.
It eventually got out of control.
A dozen seconds later, she spoke again, but this time there was no anger or probing in her tone. She was just like a child who had lost her parents, asking someone who knew about it because of her longing for them.
"No one has ever mentioned my parents' sacrifices before, but now I just want to know how they sacrificed themselves. Uncle, you are my only family, can you tell me?"
When Xiao Yunfeng heard the word "family," his expression changed noticeably, and even his gaze towards her softened considerably.
"Okay, I can tell you, but you can't cry."
Su Jin forced a smile that was more like a grimace. "I'm really not a child anymore."
Xiao Yunfeng, with a hint of indulgence, agreed, "Alright, you're not a child anymore. But we can't talk here, let's go home first."
It was freezing cold; even just this short while, I was incredibly cold.
Su Jin desperately wanted to know immediately, but reason reminded her that she shouldn't rush things, especially in situations like this.
"Let's go," Xiao Yunfeng urged.
This time, Su Jin walked ahead with her head down, and Xiao Yunfeng followed behind her.
"Aunt Wu, make some ginger soup."
Upon arriving home, Xiao Yunfeng immediately gave instructions to Wu Ma.
When Wu Ma saw Su Jin's face, which was red from the cold, she was startled.
They went to Commander Qian's house for a gathering, and it's only a four or five-minute walk back from there. How did she get so cold?
Without delay, I hurried to the kitchen.
Su Jin hadn't felt cold before, but the warmth now made her feel chilly and stiff.
Xiao Yunfeng poured her a cup of hot water and handed it to her.
"I'm not thirsty."
"I'm not telling you to drink it, I'm telling you to keep your hands warm."
As Xiao Yunfeng spoke, he placed the water glass in her hand.
Soon, her cold hands were warmed by the heat emanating from the water glass.
Looking at the plain water in the glass, Su Jin couldn't describe her current feelings.
Although it was just a trivial matter, it cannot be denied that Xiao Yunfeng was very considerate of her.
Were all of these just for show?
"Did you eat well tonight? Should we ask Aunt Wu to make something else to eat?" Xiao Yunfeng's question interrupted her daze.
Su Jin quickly shook her head, "I'm full. Uncle, my parents..."
"Go change your clothes, then come to my study." Xiao Yunfeng didn't wait for her to finish speaking before giving the order.
After he finished speaking, he got up and walked towards his room.
Su Jin then realized that she was still wearing a coat and cotton boots. Even though she kept reminding herself not to rush, she still couldn't help but feel anxious.
Fifteen minutes later.
Su Jin, carrying a bowl of ginger soup, knocked on the door of the study.
To ensure that she wouldn't be interrupted by Aunt Wu during her conversation with Xiao Yunfeng, she waited for Aunt Wu to finish brewing the ginger soup before bringing it in.
"Come in."
Xiao Yunfeng's voice came from inside.
Su Jin took a deep breath and pushed open the door to enter.
Xiao Yunfeng sat behind his desk, tidying up something.
"Uncle, the ginger soup is ready. You can drink it while it's hot." Su Jin obediently placed the soup bowl on the corner of the desk, where he could reach it.
Xiao Yunfeng looked up and glanced at it. "You should drink it."
"Huh?" Su Jin hated drinking ginger soup the most. Even when she caught a cold or felt chilled, she would never drink it if she could avoid it.
The words of refusal were already on the tip of my tongue, but then I thought that if I didn't drink it, I would be wasting time, so I simply picked up the ginger soup, pinched my nose, and gulped it down in one go.
