Chapter 37 Have I seen you somewhere before?
Zhou Zhenxing paused, and for some reason, a sense of unfamiliarity with Su Jin arose in his heart.
She was still the same person, even though they had already reached the point of divorce, she was still so compliant.
Does she lack her own opinions completely, or does she simply not care?
Su Jin knew he was probing her, but none of that mattered anymore.
The car quickly drove into the military parking lot.
Su Jin walked much faster than usual as she followed Zhou Zhenxing.
"Don't be nervous, it's nothing."
Zhou Zhenxing, unusually gentle, soothed her emotions.
Su Jin didn't explain, and just kept walking forward on her own.
Although we encountered some soldiers on the way to the regimental commander's office, it didn't attract much attention.
Upon arriving at the commander's office, Zhou Zhenxing straightened his uniform before knocking on the door.
"Come in."
Zhou Zhenxing gave Su Jin a reassuring look before leading her inside.
Shi Kang was busy with the documents in front of him when he heard footsteps and put down his pen.
"Commander," Zhou Zhenxing spoke first, standing at a standard military posture.
Shi Kang's gaze, however, fell on Su Jin beside him, scrutinizing her closely.
"Commander, this is Su Jin."
Although Zhou Zhenxing told Su Jin not to be nervous, he himself was feeling quite anxious.
After all, today is related to his happiness for the rest of his life.
Su Jin did not choose to meet Shi Kang's gaze, but instead lowered her eyes slightly.
One second.
Five seconds.
Shi Kang remained silent, and the atmosphere grew increasingly tense.
"Su Jin? Haven't I seen you somewhere before?"
Shi Kang finally spoke, but his first words made Su Jin's heart leap into her throat.
Zhou Zhenxing was even more astonished.
He had considered all the possibilities, but he never expected such an opening.
Su Jin replied cautiously, "My memory isn't very good, but I don't think I've met you before."
Shi Kang frowned slightly as he looked at her, feeling an unusually strong sense of familiarity.
"That shouldn't be the case."
Su Jin continued, "I have a very common face; perhaps you've mistaken me for someone else."
Shi Kang's expression grew increasingly serious.
Her explanation doesn't hold water. If a face like that is considered average, then there's no such thing as beautiful.
"Commander, Su Jin has been in Daliushu Village for four years." Zhou Zhenxing echoed after regaining his senses, agreeing that it was indeed as Su Jin had said.
Shi Kang really couldn't remember where he had seen Su Jin before, and it wasn't a good time to delve into it further.
"Comrade Su Jin, I had Zhou Zhenxing bring you here today because I wanted to talk about the situation between you two."
Getting back to the main point, Su Jin and Zhou Zhenxing both secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Su Jin nodded. "I know."
Zhou Zhenxing was ready to cooperate with her.
"You can go out now."
The next second, his preparations were shattered by Shi Kang, and his confidence instantly diminished by more than half.
Seeing that he was standing there motionless, Shi Kang said with dissatisfaction, "I want to talk to Comrade Su Jin alone, is there a problem?"
Zhou Zhenxing quickly replied, "No problem!"
After saying that, he turned and left as quickly as possible.
“Those who were supposed to leave have finally left. Now we can have a proper talk.” Shi Kang toned down his sharp edge, stood up from behind his desk, and walked to the chair next to him.
After the conversation, Su Jin dared not relax at all.
"Have a seat," Shi Kang gestured to her.
