Chapter 19 Contacting Zhou Zhenxing
Wang Baozhu's palms sweated when he heard the phone ring.
"Don't be afraid, Su Jin, everything will be alright."
Although he said that, he was really unsure. After all, the knife had pierced that beast's stomach, and if the man had actually died, Su Jin would be in big trouble.
Su Jin remained silent, as if she was too nervous to speak.
"Okay, I understand."
The police repeatedly confirmed the situation with the hospital before hanging up the phone.
Su Jin and Wang Baozhu stared at him, waiting for the result.
"The man didn't die. The knife didn't hit a vital spot, but he lost too much blood. However, he's out of danger now."
The police also felt a sense of relief.
If the person is alright, this case will be easier to handle.
Su Jin's reaction was not significant, as if she had already anticipated this outcome.
"Phew! That's great! I told you nothing would happen. Officer, can Su Jin and I go back now?"
Wang Baozhu finally felt relieved and just wanted it to end quickly.
"You can leave, but Comrade Su Jin still needs a family member's signature," the police officer said matter-of-factly.
Wang Baozhu immediately asked, "Can I do it?"
The police officer shook his head. "We need family members."
Su Jin was in a dilemma. "I only have my mother-in-law at home, but she is old and can't withstand this kind of shock."
"Where is your husband?" the police officer asked.
Wang Baozhu quickly retorted, "Her husband is serving in the military outside, so he definitely can't come."
The police officer looked surprised.
Unexpectedly, she was also a military wife, which changed the nature of the case.
Zhao Zhihu and his two accomplices dared to persecute a military wife, which aggravates their crime.
"How about this, you can contact your husband's workplace and have him call us. I'll handle the rest."
Wang Baozhu thought this was a good idea; Su Jin had encountered such a serious problem, and Zhou Zhenxing should be informed.
To their surprise, Su Jin hesitated for a few seconds before refusing.
"I don't know his workplace phone number."
"You didn't know?" The police officer was extremely surprised.
Although contacting her by phone is inconvenient and expensive, she should at least know the number.
Su Jin explained, "We usually communicate by letter or telegram."
The police didn't think much of it and came up with a solution for her: "Tell me your husband's name, the address of his unit, and his unit number, and I'll help you check."
It's a bit troublesome, but we should be able to get in touch.
Su Jin looked conflicted. "Can we not look for him? I don't want him to know."
The police officer said earnestly, "Comrade Su Jin, I know you're worried about your husband, but according to regulations, you must contact your family."
Wang Baozhu couldn't help but advise, "Su Jin, what time is it now? You're still thinking about Zhou Zhenxing. Anyway, you're going to see him soon, so giving him a call is really nothing."
It's heartbreaking to see a wife go to such lengths.
Su Jin finally gave up and revealed the unit number of Zhou Zhenxing's unit.
"I'll contact them right now." The police officer acted swiftly, picking up the phone immediately. "Could you please help me find the contact information for the 1st Company, 8th Battalion, 2nd Regiment of the Beijing-based border troops?"
The inquiry took time, and the call also needed to be transferred, so by the time the call was finally connected to the 1st Company, it was already twenty minutes later.
"Hello, this is the Fenglin County Police Station. I'd like to speak with Comrade Zhou Zhenxing."
