Chapter 20 Sympathy
"Company Commander Zhou is in a meeting. Is there something you need from him?"
The other person's words came through the microphone.
The police officer was clearly taken aback, obviously not expecting that Su Jin's husband would be a company commander.
“His wife is currently at our police station; we need to communicate with him about some things.”
Explain the situation quickly.
However, Su Jin was almost humiliated, so of course she couldn't tell anyone other than Zhou Zhenxing.
The next second, the other party's surprised and questioning words made the police officer on the call frown.
"The company commander's wife? Are you sure? How come I didn't know our company commander was married?"
The police officer almost immediately looked at Su Jin, who was not far away, his expression extremely complicated.
"I'm sure."
No one would lie about something like this, and Wang Baozhu is a villager from Daliushu Village, so it's impossible for him to mistake their relationship.
There was a brief silence on the microphone.
"Wait a moment, I'll go find the company commander and then call him back for you."
Fortunately, the other party didn't say anything else, and the call was disconnected.
Before Su Jin could even get going, Wang Baozhu asked first, "Officer, what did they say over there?"
The police officer glanced at Su Jin again before replying, "The person who answered the phone has gone to find Comrade Zhou Zhenxing, and the call should be back soon."
Wang Baozhu smiled and asked, "If we talk to Zhou Zhenxing on the phone, can we leave?"
It was getting darker outside, and his family was waiting for him to come home.
The police officer nodded. "If there are no problems."
Although he trusted Su Jin, what if something happened?
Su Jin seemed to sense something and met his gaze.
However, she didn't ask any more questions.
Five minutes.
Ten minutes.
Fifteen minutes.
Half an hour passed, and the landline on the desk remained silent.
Wang Baozhu had long been unable to contain himself and kept complaining, "What's wrong with Zhou Zhenxing? He knows his wife is at the police station, so why is he taking so long?"
Any normal man would have called back long ago.
Su Jin seemed quite calm. "Perhaps he's busy with work. Uncle Wang, why don't you go back to the village first? I'll wait here."
The more understanding she was, the angrier Wang Baozhu became on her behalf.
"How busy is he that he doesn't even have time to make a phone call? Besides, what job could be more important than his wife? Zhou Zhenxing is becoming more and more unreliable!"
The police officers waiting nearby wouldn't offer their opinions like Wang Baozhu, but they looked at Su Jin with a hint of sympathy.
The fact that no one in the military knew Zhou Zhenxing was married speaks volumes.
"Maybe I should call back and ask again. Perhaps the person who relayed the message couldn't find Comrade Zhou Zhenxing."
This was also a way of comforting Su Jin, since she had just gone through something like that.
Su Jin said politely, "Thank you for your help."
The call was answered very quickly this time.
"I have already told the company commander, and he said he will call you back after the meeting."
The police were surprised by this turn of events. Looking at the tension and anticipation on Su Jin's face, and considering that she had suffered such a great injustice, she was still concerned about her mother-in-law and husband's feelings, while her husband's attitude was really excessive.
"Then go tell your company commander that this is a police station. Do you know what a police station is?! His wife is in trouble. Tell him to call back right away!"
He emphasized this with obvious anger, wanting Zhou Zhenxing to understand the seriousness of the matter.
