Chapter 56
Chapter 56
Meng Yingying glanced sideways. Here we go again, Zhou Xiuqi's certainty, as if he could predict the ending. He doesn't seem to care about the ending, as if... as if... in this short time, since learning that all of this involved two lifetimes, everything has become crystal clear to Meng Yingying. Could Zhou Xiuqi have also retained memories of his past life?
Meng Yingying suddenly realized that she needed to find an opportunity to test him. Kong Fusheng paused, somewhat puzzled. He felt that Tan Yuhua and the others would definitely kill them, as no one would keep someone who posed a threat to them alive. So he asked, "Why?" No one in the room expected him to ask that question, and he didn't understand why they all had no doubts about the answer.
Meng Yingying was sometimes truly awestruck by Kong Fusheng's drive, no matter how many times. Zhou Xiuqi answered him, "I calculated it." Kong Fusheng scratched his head, "Senior Zhou, when did you learn fortune telling?" Meng Yingying went up and pulled him over, "Fusheng, come here, I recently learned a new talisman." After saying that, she dragged Kong Fusheng to a corner of the room. Zhou Xiuqi seemed thoughtful, had he already noticed?
Meng Yingying pulled him to a corner, and Kong Fusheng rubbed his neck: "Senior Meng, could you be a little gentler next time? Every time you do this, I feel like my head and body are going to separate." Meng Yingying stared at him speechlessly, "I'm doing this for your emotional intelligence."
Kong Fusheng couldn't understand her again. He felt that Senior Meng often said some strange things. He lowered his arm and asked, "Do you have any talismans to teach me?"
Meng Yingying looked up at the sky and down at the ground, racking her brains for a good lesson. After all, talismans have different limitations for different people. Since she had already tricked him into coming here, she had no choice but to teach him. Meng Yingying put her hands on her hips: "I'll teach you a water talisman."
Kong Fusheng looked at him with disdain: "Senior Meng, you look down on me. I've known how to use water talismans for a long time."
Meng Yingying poked his head hard with her finger, exasperated: "Of course it's not the beginner one. Mine is the improved version. You don't need to chant incantations, you just need to use magic."
Kong Fusheng continued scratching his head: "You changed it yourself?"
Meng Yingying didn't waste any words, wanting to directly conceal the truth from him. She flipped two fingers, revealing a blockage within her body. Her hand movements froze: "I can't circulate my magic."
Upon hearing this, Kong Fusheng's expression turned solemn as he began to sense the flow of magical power within his body, only to find himself surrounded by nothingness. He immediately clenched his fist, exclaiming, "No wonder I was so at ease. It seems they came prepared for this."
Helpless, Meng Yingying turned her back and bumped into someone. She looked up and saw a fake smiling face.
Meng Yingying was startled and quickly took a few steps back. Shang Mang reached out and grabbed her wrist. Suddenly, her mind was in turmoil, flashing through many vivid, white images that stung her nerves. She frowned in pain and bent over to squat down. Shang Mang released his grip, only to be punched in the face.
Kong Fusheng cracked his knuckles and warned him, "Although I can't kill you, I have plenty of ways to beat you up. Don't come near Senior Meng."
Shang Mang turned his head, his cheek stinging. He lay on the ground, letting out a lazy laugh. Then he knelt down and crawled towards Meng Yingying. Kong Fusheng stared at him blankly as Shang Mang gently placed his hands on either side of Meng Yingying's cheeks.
Kong Fusheng suddenly felt that he couldn't breathe properly, and a black line appeared on his neck. He covered his neck with both hands.
Shang Mang didn't even look up. Kong Fusheng's suffocating feeling gradually subsided, and he leaned against the wall, panting. Meng Yingying's ears were filled with noise; many people were talking, seemingly to her, yet also to others. It only lasted a moment, then quickly disappeared. She opened her eyes and saw Shang Mang's injured face. Instinctively, she looked at her hands, which he held firmly with one hand.
Shang Mang turned his face to let her see more clearly: "That really hurt." Meng Yingying clenched her fingers, slightly furrowed her brows, and resentfully scolded him: "Then why didn't you dodge? Are you sick?"
Kong Fusheng watched from the side, his face full of resentment, but unfortunately he couldn't speak.
Shang Mang touched his face, and Meng Yingying saw his hand—slender and long, with veins more clearly visible than those of a living person, appearing black. He looked up at her, saying nothing, just staring at her. Meng Yingying felt a chill run down her spine from his gaze. She reached out to touch his face, but instead pressed the back of her hand against it, saying, "Sorry." Just as she was about to pull her hand back, Shang Mang grabbed her wrist and pressed it forcefully against his cheek. "Not enough, not enough. This little bit of pain is not enough." He needed more pain to stay awake.
Meng Yingying's heart skipped a beat. His body temperature was so cold. She pursed her lips and said, "Shang Mang, pain is not the only way to maintain happiness. Pain can bring you excitement because you are sick."
Shang Mang was stunned.
Meng Yingying withdrew her hand: "You need medical treatment."
Shang Mang looked at her: "No one can cure me." This ailment has been with him since birth, and it will never disappear. Meng Yingying sat on the ground, "Tell me everything that happened in your past life, and I might consider treating you." She smiled.
Shang Mang snorted coldly, expressing his disdain; he really never forgot to try and extract information.
Meng Yingying thought he didn't believe her, so she leaned closer to him: "Don't you know that I'm a miracle doctor with miraculous healing skills?"
Shang Mang stared intently at her. The moment she moved a fraction closer, he felt an irresistible urge to get even closer. He answered rationally, "You're not. You're a liar."
The pain I feel is nothing compared to your love.
Meng Yingying was exhausted. She hummed casually, "Believe it or not, I've left my words here. You can come and ask me when you need them, and I'll tell you. Even if you don't tell me, I will definitely find the answer. By then, there won't be another chance."
Shang Mang sneered, "You're best at lying, you've fooled everyone, including yourself and me. Such a high level of deception..." His fake smile froze, and he lowered his head. "Even if Hua Tuo were alive, he couldn't save me." He hadn't heard Meng Yingying's reply after speaking for a while. He turned his head and found that she was asleep. He sneered and turned back, meeting Kong Fusheng's fierce gaze.
Shang Mang looked back: "If you keep looking, I'll make sure you can't speak."
Kong Fusheng blushed and managed to stammer out, "Don't be so smug. With your status, do you really think Senior Meng would stand on your side? She's just... just... just pitying you!" He said, only realizing his mistake as soon as the words left his mouth.
Shang Mang narrowed his eyes, a smile playing at the corners: "Me, proud of this filthy identity?" He smiled coldly: "It is you who have always been proud of eliminating this identity."
Kong Fusheng turned his head to the side, straightening his neck: "I misspoke, I'm sorry."
Shang Mang Yangtian: "You're all a bunch of idiots."
