Chapter 123 Don't Overthink It

Chapter 123 Don't Overthink It

Si Jingxu stared intently at the fish rubbing against his legs.

Young Master Si has always been the best at everything he does since he was a child. There's nothing he can't do if he wants to.

Let alone a small fish.

He absolutely couldn't afford to lose face in front of the girl he liked.

The little fish seemed to be provoking him, its tail barely brushing against him, but it wouldn't go far.

After several failures, he has learned from his mistakes.

Seizing the opportunity and judging the fish's actual location, Si Jingxu narrowed his eyes, decisively reached out, and firmly grasped the troublesome fish.

"Ah!!!! Brother Jingxu! You're so amazing!!!!"

The girl's surprised and exclaiming voice was a little closer than before.

Si Jingxu looked up.

Without saying a word, she took off her shoes and socks and went into the water.

She held up her skirt with both hands, revealing half of her fair and tender calves, and walked carefully in the water, barefoot.

"Careful!" Si Jingxu threw the fish aside and strode over to help her.

"Why did you throw the fish away!" Yan Buyu said regretfully. "It was so hard to catch it."

Si Jingxu supported her right arm. "It's just a fish, you can catch another one. Who told you to come down here? The water's cold here, I'll take you back up."

"No," the stream water was crystal clear, and it felt different from the pool water at home. "I'll play for a while, Brother Jingxu. The water is still a little warm at midday."

Si Jingxu couldn't bring himself to refuse. "Then don't go that way. Just play here, and I'll catch you a fish."

"They can still catch them?" Yan Buyu blurted out.

Si Jingxu laughed angrily. So, he didn't believe him.

He raised his hand and pinched her chin, making her head tilt slightly upwards, his tone dangerous, "You don't actually think that your brother Jingxu caught the fish by luck, do you?"

Isn't that right?

She dared not speak, and shook her head against her will, "Of course not, Brother Jingxu, you're a pure technical expert."

"You little liar." Si Jingxu released her. "Wait, I'll catch you a big one."

Si Jingxu was catching fish, while Yan Buyu was playing in the water on the side.

No one will hold anyone back.

After playing for a while, Yan Buyu glanced at Si Jingxu beside him.

He's usually all smiles, or he'll lazily tease her.

This was the first time she had ever seen Si Jingxu look so serious.

A mature man's serious demeanor is very charming...

As a fish swam past his legs, he prepared to make his move.

After a few days of good fortune, Yan Buyu suddenly had the urge to do something naughty.

She splashed her foot in the water, startling the fish that was about to become Si Jingxu's prey.

"You child," Si Jingxu's remaining words stuck in his throat.

A person who has done something bad will show off a set of clean, even teeth, their eyes will be narrowed into slits, and they will have a very attractive smile.

Si Jingxu's lips also curled up in a smile.

"Is it fun?" he asked.

Yan Buyu nodded. She used to enjoy causing trouble for her brother; it was so much fun.

The next moment, a shadow fell over her.

She stopped laughing, opened her eyes, and saw Si Jingxu already standing in front of her, looking down at her condescendingly. "How are you going to compensate me with a fish?"

"Uh," Yan Buyu was taken aback, not expecting that Young Master Si cared so much. "Let me see."

She pretended to look around, then pointed and said, "There, that fish is my compensation for you."

Si Jingxu raised an eyebrow. "Just pointing out a location is enough?"

"Then... I'll catch one for you." Yan Buyu also wanted to try; maybe she could catch a fish too.

Practice makes perfect, isn't it?

Si Jingxu watched with amusement as she slowly took two steps and then stopped.

"What? Is Xiao Yan planning to control the fish with her mind?"

Yan Buyu slowly turned around, his expression somewhat ferocious. "Brother Jingxu, I think I cut my foot."

Si Jingxu's smile vanished, his handsome brows furrowed, and he strode over, picked her up, and carried her to the shore.

On the right side of my foot, there's a cut about three centimeters long, not too big or too small.

Yan Buyu sat on the grass, tilted his head to look, and said, "It's okay. It hurt a little when I bumped into it, but it's much better now."

Si Jingxu knelt on one knee, carefully examined the wound to make sure there was no obvious dirt on it, then took out a handkerchief and gently wrapped the wound.

Seeing his unpleasant expression, Yan Buyu dared not speak loudly.

He was probably afraid that his older brother would blame him?

"It's nothing, it's just a very small thing, my older brother won't say anything." Her voice was soft and sweet.

"Does it hurt?" Si Jingxu asked in a hoarse voice as he looked up at her.

Their eyes met, and their hearts, unspoken, felt as if they had been struck by an electric current.

He remained kneeling on one knee.

Her eyes held a lot of things: the familiar guilt and heartache, and something unfamiliar... she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Yan Buyu opened his mouth, unsure whether he should say something to comfort him or make a joke to ease the tension.

"Let's go back." Si Jingxu helped her put on her shoes and socks on her uninjured foot, and then picked up her other shoe and stood up.

Just as Yan Buyu was about to struggle to jump up.

The man, who had just stood up, bent down again and lifted her up in a princess carry with one hand.

"Sit in the back of the car and don't move around. You'll need to get a shot when we get back." Si Jingxu settled her in the back seat of the pink electric scooter and started the car himself.

Without saying a word, her heart was pounding wildly.

She was glad that Si Jingxu wasn't paying attention to her right now, otherwise he would have noticed that her face was so hot it could fry an egg.

After a long pause, she took a few deep breaths and forced herself to tell herself that Si Jingxu was simply fulfilling the responsibilities of an older brother.

Just like Long Yu and He Run, they were only nice to him because of their elder brother.

That must be it.

Don't overthink it.

Absolutely, absolutely.

After calming down, she realized, "I need an injection? What kind of injection?"

“Tetanus,” Si Jingxu answered from the front.

"Ah! It's just a small cut, and the water there is quite clean, so we don't need to get a shot!" Yan Buyu wailed from behind, as she was terrified of injections.

Her mother had arranged for her to receive the HPV vaccine, and when her brother took her to get it, she was in pain for several days.

In the end, it was only because her brother bought her ice cream every day and transferred money to her that she was able to get through it.

“There’s no room for discussion,” Si Jingxu said before she could speak, afraid that he wouldn’t be able to handle her coquettishness. “There are bacteria in the water. What if we get infected? I can’t take that risk.”

Her heart was filled with the silent pain of injections, and she didn't notice the ambiguity in Si Jingxu's tone.

Upon receiving instructions, Zhou Ze led his men to wait in the courtyard early in the morning.

A while later, I saw my boss riding back on that small electric scooter that didn't suit his status, with a sullen face.

"Mr. Si, the person has arrived." Zhou Ze stepped forward to greet him.

Si Jingxu parked the car and, just like before, without making any unnecessary movements, carried the girl from the back seat upstairs.

Having just prepared herself, Yan Buyu now leaned against him, her mind much calmer.

However, my heartbeat was still out of control.
