Chapter 140 Speak Properly
Si Jingxu knew her personality, so he stopped teasing her this time.
Holding the documents Zhou Ze had brought that morning, she said, "I'm planning to invest in Walnut Town. Take a look."
"Really?" Yan Buyu took it with delight. "I also want to invest, but I'm afraid I'll act too impulsively. So, Walnut Town really is worth investing in, right, Brother Jingxu?"
“Hmm,” her smile stirred his heart. Si Jingxu, who had long lost interest in making money, found this kind of investment quite interesting for the first time. “It’s valuable.”
"Young Master Yan?"
"What's wrong, Mr. Si?"
"Can I submit an application and ask you to lend me your hand?" Si Jingxu leaned forward, looking at her expectantly.
“Okay,” Yan Buyu said, placing her hand on Si Jingxu’s palm. She thought for a moment, “We don’t need to apply after we hold hands.”
Her hands were soft and small, and Si Jingxu held them in his palm with great affection. "Oh, it's New Year's," he said.
Yan Buyu's face flushed slightly, her lips curved into a smile, and she continued reading the documents.
Si Jingxu squeezed her palm. "Young President Yan, can I touch your face?"
After a moment of silence, he said, "You can only touch, not pinch."
"I can't bear to do that," Si Jingxu said as he reached out and touched her cheek.
It's smooth and tender, just like a piece of milk pudding.
His gaze fell on her pink and moist lips, and Si Jingxu's eyes darkened. His voice was slightly hoarse as he asked, "Can I have a kiss?"
"No." The refusal was swift and decisive.
"How about a hug?" Si Jingxu suggested.
"Mr. Si, I advise you not to push your luck." Yan Buyu slapped his hand away. "And don't touch my face anymore."
"Alright then." Si Jingxu withdrew his hand with a sense of loss. "Okay, go back to your room. Long Yu and the others will be coming to find me later, so you won't be shy."
"Oh." Yan Buyu put the documents away. "Why don't you lie down for a while? It must be tiring to be in a wheelchair all the time."
Si Jingxu waved his hand, "Never mind, let's go back."
"Then I'm leaving, Brother Jingxu. Send me a message if you need anything."
Leaving without a word felt far more pleasant than arriving.
Si Jingxu chuckled lightly, "You little ingrate."
After confirming that she had arrived at the room, he called Zhou Ze.
He was really tired, but he didn't want Yan Buyu to help him to bed.
That was so embarrassing.
Even when trying to gain sympathy, one should be mindful of their image.
With more people, the liveliness of Shen Yanzhou's garden increased several times over.
Laughter and joy were everywhere.
Everyone took good care of Yan Buyu.
To make her even happier, Qin Nianke finally arrived.
“I just really want to see my cousin in a wheelchair,” Qin Nianke said, her eyes shining. “He’s never been injured in his life, it’s a once-in-a-millennium event, I have to see it.”
"So you didn't miss me after all," Yan Buyu said sourly. "I thought you came for me, but it turns out I was just being delusional."
Qin Nianke pouted at her, "Haven't seen you for a few days, and you're acting all high and mighty. Who taught you that?"
Yan Buyu chuckled and took her arm. "Cha Cha is healthier. I just missed you so much. You have no idea how much has happened lately. I have so much to tell you."
"Sister, me too. Let's order two coffees tonight and chat all night long."
"Sure, sure!" Yan Buyu was overjoyed.
The moment Qin Nianke saw Si Jingxu, she immediately became obedient.
"Cousin, are you alright? Where are you hurt?" She actually wanted to ask how she got hurt, but her cousin glared at her, and she misspoke.
Annoyed that she was occupying his girlfriend's space, Si Jingxu coldly said, "Didn't you bring your eyes? Can't you see where the cast is?"
"Speak properly," Yan Buyu said instinctively, frowning.
Then, the whole room fell silent, and everyone looked at her with shocked eyes.
Si Jingxu looked at her with gentle eyes and a smile on his lips.
She remained silent for a moment, realizing she had been enjoying herself too much these past two days and had lost control of her emotions.
"I'm sorry, Brother Jingxu, I thought it was my brother speaking, not you." Yan Buyu said sincerely.
Si Jingxu was unhappy with her saying that. "It's not a big deal. Why apologize? I won't hold it against you because of your older brother."
Shen Yanzhou stood up, blocking everyone's view. "Buyu, go play with your friends. The topics we're discussing here are probably not of interest to girls. You can go play in the courtyard next door. I've invited a master of intangible cultural heritage to make you tea and snacks."
"Thank you, brother. I'm leaving now." Yan Buyu took Qin Nianke's hand and left without looking back.
With an unlit cigarette dangling from his mouth, Long Yu glanced at Si Jingxu, whose face was beaming with joy, and narrowed his eyes.
"That's incredible, that's incredible," Qin Nianke patted her chest. "You said that to so many people and he didn't even react. If it were me, he would pack me up and send me back to France."
"That's all because of my older brother." Yan Buyu coughed lightly, feeling a little guilty in front of her best friend.
But she didn't know how to bring it up, to say that she was with her cousin.
Perhaps we should wait a couple more months, until things stabilize between her and Si Jingxu, and then she can let her know.
Otherwise, if they break up after only two days of dating, it will be awkward and troublesome for everyone to meet.
Watching the intangible cultural heritage masters make pastries while surrounded by small bridges and flowing water is a true pleasure.
Yan Buyu took a sip of tea. "Your aunt is still abroad. Why are you in such a hurry to come back?"
Qin Nianke felt a slight unease, but quickly covered it up. "I miss you. My mom always uses me as a free translator, and I'm getting thin-skinned from all that talking."
“It’s so good to put what you’ve learned to practical use,” Yan Buyu said with a smile. “Once my brother expands his business to France, I’ll become his full-time translator. I won’t even need to submit a resume; I’ll have a job.”
"Does your brother intend to develop his career in France?" Qin Nianke asked.
"No."
Qin Nianke: ...
The two chatted from afternoon until evening, and didn't even have dinner with everyone.
They took the food directly back to their room and started the next game.
"So, you're going to invest." Qin Nianke took a big bite of meat. "The food in China is still the best. If I ever go abroad, I'll have to bring a chef with me."
“Yes, we’re going to invest. We’ll draft the contract and attract investment when we get back to Beijing,” Yan Buyu said, taking a sip of coffee. “I want to make a lot of money.”
"Then you'll take care of me from now on," Qin Nianke moved closer to her. "Look at my cousin's character. If I say something wrong one day, he'll stop giving my family business, and I'll be homeless. I'll come to you then, okay?"
"Okay, I'll take care of you." Yan Buyu waved his hand dismissively. "Your phone lit up."
Qin Nianke immediately released Yan Buyu's hand, picked up her phone, unlocked it, and replied to the message.
Yan Buyu squinted at her and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
Qin Nianke chuckled, "Netizen, netizen. Hey, your phone's lit up too."
Yan Buyu glanced at it and said, "My older brother, I'm going out for a bit."
Shen Yanzhou stood outside Yan Buyu's room, waiting for her to come out, and smiled gently, "Don't run, walk slowly."
"What's wrong, brother?"
Shen Yanzhou tidied her hair. "I was thinking of telling you tomorrow, but I was afraid you wouldn't sleep well at night and would overthink it about that unknown number."
