Chapter 242 I Don't Want You to Be Misunderstood
A woman who spent her whole life trying to prove herself.
After decades of hard work, she finally demonstrated her abilities to everyone, but her heart felt empty.
There are certain places in my heart that desperately want to be filled.
Just then, she met Yan Qihang.
This man is pleasing to the eye, non-threatening, and won't laugh at her or make fun of her because he's a few years younger than her.
He took good care of her and would bring her soup that he had personally cooked every day.
At first, she was skeptical.
Having been in business for many years, I've seen far too many despicable tactics.
She assumed it was a tactic sent by a competitor to slander her.
But as time went on, it seemed that things weren't as I had imagined.
He was a bit poor, but very considerate.
He would buy cheap roses, cut off the thorns one by one, and then hand them to himself.
He would keep an eye on his company's situation, and when he knew that other companies were attacking him, he would thoughtfully prepare some calming soup for her, just so that he could face the situation with more energy.
Over time, as they got to know each other better, Ruan Censhu was captivated by this man who could provide emotional support.
She has money and can buy most items with listed prices.
But she couldn't buy a sincere heart.
Even if Yan Qihang was after her money, he still made real sacrifices.
“I thought I’d finally found someone to accompany me in this life,” Ruan Censhu said sadly. “But in the end, he still lied to me.”
Everything about himself.
"He fabricated a tragic backstory, completely portraying himself as a miserable man who went to jail in place of his ex-wife and was abandoned by his own daughter."
"You believe him just because he says so, Ms. Ruan? How did you manage to build such a large business?" Yan Buyu had been listening for a while and was genuinely curious about this matter.
Ruan Censhu chuckled self-deprecatingly, “Everyone has moments when they lose their mind, and I’m no exception. Back then, he was just too good, too good, too perfect.”
But the most terrifying thing is perfection.
He was so good that there wasn't a single flaw to be found.
“Um,” Yan Buyu interrupted her, “what do you want from me? Do you want to hear about your love story with him?”
Did Ruan Censhu know that Yan Qihang was dead?
“He’s gone.” Ruan Censhu took a sip of coffee. “He stole everything in my house that could be converted into cash, gold bars, jewelry, and ran away.”
"Huh?" Yan Buyu was taken aback.
Ruan Censhu took out her phone again and played a voice message for Yan Buyu.
It was a conversation Yan Qihang had that day in the abandoned factory. He said he had had enough of the old woman, and that she was about to go through menopause but still wanted a child.
“I thought he was different from others, but it turns out he’s even worse than them. He’s been lying to me for so long and he still says these things to me.”
"So you came to me because you want to know his whereabouts?" Yan Buyu shook his head. "I don't know."
“No, I don’t want to know where he is. Let him take those things. I’ll just consider it as buying a few months’ worth of emotional value,” Ruan Censhu said with a calm smile. “I called you here to apologize to you.”
She believed Yan Qihang's words and thought that Yan Buyu was a greedy and ungrateful wretch.
He went to her school to find her and even asked her out to confront her.
“I was head over heels for him back then, and I felt entitled to lecture everyone I met. But now that I think about it, what right did I have to say anything to you? I’m sorry, Miss Yan, I apologize for everything I did before,” Ruan Censhu said solemnly.
Yan Buyu breathed a sigh of relief. "If that's the case, I accept it. We never had any conflicts before, and we never will."
“I’m going to sell all my assets and go abroad,” Ruan Censhu said with a relaxed smile. “Looking back now, I realize that life is most enjoyable when you have money.”
"The main thing is having money. It's not easy to live alone without money," Yan Buyu said softly, having experienced it in her past life.
After chatting for a few more minutes, Ruan Censhu stood up and said goodbye.
“By the way, Ms. Ruan,” Yan Buyu called out to her, “where did you get that recording?”
Ruan Censhu smiled and said, "You are luckier than me. It was your boyfriend who sent me the recording, and it was this recording that made me see Yan Qihang's ugly face."
Yan Buyu was somewhat surprised.
Shen Yanzhou and Shen Yunqi were at the table behind them and heard everything.
“Si Jingxu?” Shen Yunqi sat down. “When did he do it? I didn’t know.”
Shen Yanzhou handed his sister a cup of hot cocoa. "Jingxu doesn't want you to be misunderstood by others."
Even if this person is insignificant and there will be no further contact, it doesn't matter.
Holding the hot cocoa silently, she thought of Si Jingxu, and felt a sweet warmth in her heart.
"He's so petty and arrogant, why didn't he come to you to take credit for what he did?" Shen Yunqi took a bite of a cookie and handed one to Yan Buyu.
He raised an eyebrow without saying a word.
When asked about this, the person involved replied, "It's no big deal. Why would I want to take credit for it? I, your brother Jingxu, have never been one to seek credit for others."
That seems to make sense.
He did many things for himself, but never mentioned them. Even when he brought them up later, he would only mention them briefly.
The weekend has come to a pleasant end.
On Monday morning, Yan Buyu got up earlier than usual, changed into the business suit her mother had bought for her, and put on light makeup.
“Buyu, you look great in this.” Shen Yanzhou’s eyes lit up when he saw his sister first. He could almost see her entering the workforce a few years from now.
"Brother, to be honest, I'm a little nervous." Yan Buyu was even more flustered than if he were taking an exam himself, and his palms were sweating. "I hope there won't be any unexpected issues with signing this contract."
"No, it won't happen," Shen Yanzhou reassured her. "Everything is settled. The two bosses will sign the contract together, and then we just need to fulfill the contract. There won't be any surprises."
"That's good, that's good." Yan Buyu looked around but didn't see anyone else. "Where are Mom and Uncle? Haven't they gotten up yet?"
"Aunt Lan went to the kitchen, and my dad is practicing Tai Chi outside," Shen Yanzhou said with a smile.
Yan Buyu craned his neck to take a look, then laughed out loud, "Uncle's nervous too."
Shen Yunqi, dressed in formal attire, slowly and deliberately sat down. "What's there to be nervous about? It's just signing a document."
"Brother! Come and eat!" Yan Buyu called out to him, then ran out to call Shen Zhiye.
"Aren't you nervous?" Shen Yanzhou asked.
"Why would I be nervous?" Shen Yunqi said calmly. "It's an acquisition contract."
“Oh,” Shen Yanzhou picked up his coffee and took a sip, “the cufflinks aren’t a pair.”
Shen Yunqi quickly looked down and sure enough, one square and one round, both bought by his sister.
"Don't tell anyone," he threatened Shen Yanzhou weakly, then strode upstairs to change his cufflinks.
Shen Yanzhou shook his head, then looked down at the newspaper. "That silly younger brother of mine."
