Chapter 05

Chapter 05

On July 17th, the sun was scorching, but West Wolf City was still shrouded in silence. A group of people quietly walked out of the city gate and headed east.

Xin Liang, dressed as a poor scholar, sat in the corner of the carriage with his eyes lowered. His long eyelashes cast a faint shadow, and he seemed to be asleep.

Lu Shenxing was dressed like a wandering swordsman, but the reality was that he couldn't even swing the spear.

The two of them were silent along the way. After arriving at the post station, they simply filled their stomachs and each thought about their own things.

Lu Shenxing called Tong Yi and the others and warned them, "There's a gang of robbers at the foot of Wuzhuang Mountain. Be careful."

That place is the only way to get to the royal city, otherwise he would not take the risk.

Waving his hand to let Tong Yi and the others continue on their way, Lu Shenxing frowned. Due to his identity, he couldn't stay in the royal city. He had to hurry on his way as soon as possible so that he could save some time.

He must strive to complete the mission on this trip and leave this world for the next one.

"Give me a detailed profile of everyone in the Xin family."

"Ding, Mr. Lu, please sing the theme song for the Tragedy series of missions."

The last punishment was still fresh in his mind. Lu Shenxing felt pain in his left arm, his face livid. “As long as everyone gives a little love, the world will become a beautiful place.”

Hearing a strange tune, Xin Liang tilted his head and asked, "General, what are you doing?"

Lu Shenxing replied coldly, "Sing."

Xin Liang showed a strange expression, "Oh."

After a moment, Xin Liang frowned and said, "General, that's a bit harsh."

Lu Shenxing squinted his eyes and said, "Then plug your ears."

Xin Liang actually blocked his ears, and Lu Shenxing's face turned green when he saw this. After all, he had won third prize in a singing competition when he was a child.

When passing by Wuzhuang Mountain, a group of people rushed down the mountain holding knives, guns, sticks and clubs, shouting and screaming.

Xin Liang, who was originally resting, heard something and asked, "General, how many people are there?"

Lu Shenxing raised his eyelids and said jokingly, "They're jumping around everywhere, it's hard to count them."

Xin Liang raised the corners of his lips, speechless.

Tong Yi and several soldiers outside the car looked at each other and were equally shocked. There really were robbers. The general was really amazing.

The leader shouted, "Leave the women behind, and kill all the men."

A younger brother came over and said, "Boss, it seems there are no women here."

The leader stared at the carriage with his eyes wide open, as if he was finally going to get his hands on some meat. "There must be something in there!"

Lu Shenxing and Xin Liang in the carriage fell silent at the same time.

Before Tong Yi outside could make a move, a low shout echoed from above, "You are openly doing such things here in broad daylight. Where do you think the law is?"

After such a twisted opening, the male protagonist arrived.

Lu Shenxing saw through the gap in the curtain a young man in white floating down from the tree. He was holding a paper fan, smiling, and looked very elegant. The book spent hundreds of words describing how stunning and unparalleled his appearance was.

To sum it up in one word, beautiful.

Lu Shenxing touched his face and comforted himself that men who looked tougher were more attractive.

Someone suggested, "Boss, this delicate-skinned guy is obviously a young master from a wealthy family. Why don't we tie him up and take him up the mountain..."

"No! That guy is from the imperial court!"

As soon as the leader finished speaking, several men in black beside the young man in white drew their swords at the same time, and in a flash, they disappeared into the group of robbers.

For a moment, the whole forest was filled with the sound of metal clashing and screams.

Those were all top-notch masters, and they finished the job in a matter of moments, without Tong Yi and the others having to take any action.

Tong Yi recognized the young man in white and frowned at first, then he took his men to pay their respects.

The car curtain was blown open by the wind, and the sunlight suddenly shone in. Lu Shenxing subconsciously squinted his eyes. Damn it, now he has no choice but to show his face.

When the white-robed Prince Jing saw the person in the car, he was surprised and asked, "General Chang?"

Lu Shenxing jumped off the carriage and clasped his fists. He glanced at the still warm corpse on the ground, then looked at the smiling male protagonist, "Your Highness."

King Jing smiled and said, "General Chang has won a great victory over Kuhai, and all the people of Dayang State are praising him."

Lu Shenxing curled his lips and said, "With the prince here, there isn't a single unjust case in the Sizheng Yamen. This is a blessing for the people of Dayang."

King Jing waved his paper fan and said, "No, no, the general is so powerful and experienced. I am just talking."

The two of them were praising each other back and forth, and Lu Shenxing was a little overwhelmed by the praise. He was worthy of being the male lead, and even the flattery was so loud.

The people around all looked away, pretending to be deaf.

Xin Liang, who was behind, walked forward.

"Xin Liang?" King Jing stared at Xin Liang's face, a gleam in his eyes, and his smile deepened. "Are you Wei Chen's second brother?"

Lu Shenxing stood in front of Xin Liang naturally, blocking King Jing's sight.

"Your Majesty, I'm anxious to go back and visit my father. Why don't we just..."

He was interrupted before he could even utter the word "goodbye".

"Then we're going the same way." King Jing clapped his paper fan. "I'm sure the general won't mind, right?"

I fucking mind.

Lu Shenxing chuckled twice with a forced smile and got back into the carriage. He looked extremely unhappy. He had deliberately delayed the date, but still ran into them.

Why did he have the illusion that someone was manipulating the plot behind the scenes and deliberately working against him...

Xin Liang came up next and said calmly, "General, why don't you want to go with King Jing?" in an affirmative tone.

Lu Shenxing's expression instantly faltered. He snorted coldly and said, "Because he's more handsome than this general."

"Really?" Xin Liang asked in a clear and quiet voice, "Could it be that the general has pimples all over his face, a crooked mouth and slanted eyes, and is extremely ugly?"

Lu Shenxing's face darkened, "Bullshit! I'm handsome!"

There was a hint of laughter in Xin Liang's voice, "That's all right."

"..." Lu Shenxing was choked for a moment, and said in a vicious voice, "Don't blind people need sleep?"

Xin Liang frowned, "General, the weather is dry and getting angry is harmful to your health."

Lu Shenxing made an impatient sound through his nose, "Why are you meddling in other people's business!"

Xin Liang touched the tea bowl placed in front of him, poured a glass of water, and followed the breathing of the person next to him to find the right direction to pass it over.

Lu Shenxing took a sip and drank it. After drinking a cup of cold tea, his anger was mostly gone.

"It seems that Prince Jing has a close relationship with your brother Xin Weichen." Lu Shenxing said with a hint of meaning, "Military Advisor, you understand what I mean, right?"

Xin Liang's expression froze for a moment. He pursed his lips and said, "I understand."

The system prompt sounded without warning. Lu Shenxing opened his eyes slightly, and there was actually a little light in Xinliang's gray world.

Lu Shenxing excitedly magnified the light, and then he saw himself.
