On the Abyss of Morai
He looked at Tiffany without saying anything.
Even Lisa was stunned, and for some reason looked at Tiffany with a guilty conscience.
When Tiff saw Rother, she showed no surprise and walked up to him with a smile.
"What's with that expression?" Tiffany asked, her eyes crinkling with laughter.
Rosser glanced at Tiffany's back before replying, "Let's see what my dear brother wants to do by bypassing me and coming to you."
“He’s such a good-for-nothing, you found out so easily.” Tiffany sighed and shook her head gently.
“So, do you want to tell me why he contacted you?” Rosser stared at Tiffany.
Tiff looked up and met Rosser's eyes. "Based on what he said, I guess he's going to do something to you during my coming-of-age ceremony."
Rother curled his lips and looked at Tiffany. "That's all you told me."
In fact, Tiffany changed the subject and didn't say why she wanted to see her. After all, it was suspicious that Rory met with Tiffany alone, making people suspect that they were accomplices, not to mention Rory's well-intentioned reminder.
“I didn’t mean to. I didn’t intend to interfere in your family’s affairs.” Tiffany smiled gently and raised her hand to smooth the wrinkles on Rosser’s shoulder. “But then I thought about it, and you are, after all, my fiancé, so naturally I’ll side with you.”
Actually, it was because Rory had just gone to find Tiffany, and the next second Rother knew that Rory's chances of inheriting the title had decreased again. However, if you think about it more carefully, it's also possible that this was a trap set by Rory, and that he knew Rother was going to show up and did it on purpose.
Tiff and Rother returned to the hall where the banquet had already begun. After dancing with Rother, the banquet ended not long after, and they returned home.
A few days later, a dozen or so carriages, some ornate and some simple, were parked at the entrance of Samuel Academy.
A young girl stepped down from one of the carriages. Her long, golden hair, which was usually loose, was tied up. Today, she was not wearing a skirt, but just a simple shirt and trousers, for the convenience of her movements.
Upon entering the classroom, students began deciding where to take the exam. They placed their hands on black stones; red light indicated Simonton Forest, while blue light indicated the Abyss of Morai.
The students lined up in front of the stone, forming two lines. Tiffany stepped forward and joined the right line.
In another queue, near the front, a blue-haired girl was muttering something with her eyes closed, "The Abyss of Morai, please, Goddess Winks, please bless me to be chosen by the Abyss of Morai."
"Oh dear, what should I do?" she cried out, turning around abruptly. "Ugh..."
With a "smack," her hair struck the face of the wheat-skinned boy behind her. The boy gritted his teeth and called out the girl's name, "Iya."
The girl's round eyes widened, and upon seeing the boy's expression, she immediately admitted her mistake, "I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to."
She smiled ingratiatingly at Allen as she spoke.
Just as Allen was about to say something, it was Iya's turn. Iya placed her hand on the stone, and within seconds, the stone emitted a blue light.
"Great!" Iya exclaimed excitedly, running to the side to draw a number.
The boy behind Iya also drew the Abyss of Morai.
Soon it was Tiff's turn, and she placed her palm on it.
Within seconds, a faint blue light shone from the stone.
The Abyss of Morai.
It's like getting exactly what you want; after Tiffany draws her lot, she has to draw numbers to group her lots.
This is entirely random, and the standard for success in the Samuel test is to obtain the designated item. The specific duration of the test is also random, but it will not exceed one month.
This time, they only need to stay for five days, and then they can pass by finding the stone imbued with the magic power of the Demon Tower Master.
There are thirty stones in total, but there are more than fifty teams, which means that many people will not be able to get a stone. At this time, people will fight over the stones. To prevent people from killing each other in the process of fighting, the academy will usually send people to search the bodies of the dead to check for any magical traces on their bodies.
She pulled out a piece of paper from a stack; the clean, white paper displayed numbers.
Seventeen.
Tiff walked toward the circle of light representing the sixteenth to twentieth levels of the Abyss of Morai. There were already three people there: two boys and a girl. One of the boys had a cold face and was wearing a cloak without a hat. There was a scar on his face that ran from his earlobe to the corner of his mouth. Tiff knew him; he was fifth on the magic power ranking—Hoande.
The girl standing inside the circle of light watched Tiffany approach with delight, "My luck is amazing today! Not only did I get the place I wanted, but I also got to team up with two people who are in the top eleven of the magic rankings."
Iya watched her step into the circle of light and waved to Tiff. "Hello, Miss Tiff, my name is Iya." Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Tiff.
Tiff stared blankly at her face, saying nothing. Her pupils trembled slightly, as if the whole world had fallen silent, and she could only see Iya in her eyes.
Twenty-one years have passed, so long that Tiffany thought she had forgotten him.
"Y-you...hello." Iya's slightly puzzled look brought Tiff back to her senses.
A barely perceptible glint of murderous intent flashed in Tiffany's eyes.
Who could have turned her into this? She couldn't believe there was anyone in this world who looked exactly like that person; it was too much of a coincidence.
Tiffany smiled and said, "Hello, you can just call me Tiffany."
“Okay!” Iya turned around and grabbed the boy next to her. “His name is Allen, and he’s my brother.”
"Hello, I'm Allen." The boy waved to Tiffany.
Tiff greeted him, "Heh." A familiar cold laugh came from behind her.
The boy stepped into the halo and walked past Tiffany.
Tiff raised an eyebrow, surprised that the last one was Rory.
Iya whispered to Allen, "He is Rory, the fifth-ranked swordsman, and the second son of the Belanovich family."
"Three out of the five people on our team are in the top ten on the leaderboard. We're incredibly lucky today."
The teacher in charge of passing the lottery was also a little surprised, but since no one could tamper with the lottery, he didn't pay much attention to it.
Once their entire group had arrived, they began the teleportation process to enter the Abyss of Morai.
Several teenagers appeared out of thin air in the forest. As they stepped out of the circle of light one by one, the circle of light beneath their feet gradually dimmed and disappeared.
A young girl looked at the scene before her and tugged at the sleeve of the person next to her, saying, "So this is the Abyss of Morai."
Unlike Simonton, with its unpleasant smell and withered trees, the scenery here is like a fairy tale world, with a faint fragrance of flowers in the air.
“And it smells of flowers.” Iya sniffed it lightly. “This is better than Simonton.”
Allen nodded in agreement. Hearing this, Tiff glanced at her without making a sound and held her breath.
She found it strange that if there were werewolves here, then why was the scenery like this?
“Hold your breath.” Rory walked to her side, his brow furrowed as he spoke. He didn’t want Tiff to die here.
His voice was neither too loud nor too soft; the people around him heard it.
Iya asked in confusion, "Why? Is there a problem here?"
"No problem, smell it as much as you like." He said indifferently.
Luo Rui has always looked down on commoners. Oh, or rather, he looks down on everyone. After all, he doesn't give nobles a friendly look either. He even calls some princes who can't get into Samuel's Academy "useless." After all, the academy only accepts talented people. If you can't even get into Samuel's Academy, how can you talk about inheriting the throne?
Well, this is clearly referring to the Crown Prince. After all, he is the prince who didn't get into Samuel's Academy. Besides the King's slight affection for him, he also has the support of one of the three major families and the other two are neutral.
Iya blinked in confusion, finding Rory's tone rather odd.
Allen gave him a disapproving look, then looked down at Iya and said, "Don't breathe, something's wrong."
Iya nodded and looked to the side. The person who had already put on the cloak kindly reminded her, "Hoande, don't breathe." Hearing Iya's voice, Hoande still had a cold face and nodded slightly.
Before long, the scene before them changed. The sky darkened, the sun disappeared and was replaced by a bright full moon. Miasma filled the air, creating a hazy gray atmosphere, and the howling of wolves could be heard.
"What's going on!" Iya's voice trembled slightly, and Allen patted her back reassuringly.
They walked forward, and a rustling sound came from the grass. The group stopped at the same time. A figure emerged from behind a tree beside the grass. It was tall and strong. Once it was no longer hidden by the trees, it could be clearly seen in the moonlight. It opened its mouth, revealing sharp teeth, and its blood-red tongue licked its teeth as it grinned at them.
Werewolf.
Behind him, one werewolf after another sprang out, countless werewolves.
"Let's split up! Staying together will make our presence too obvious." With that, Iya attacked while running in one direction.
Tiff conjured a fireball in her palm and threw it at the werewolves. Upon hitting the ground, the fireball shot up a meter high, blocking them.
After throwing it, Tiff ran in the opposite direction. She ran for an unknown amount of time before stopping. She heard footsteps behind her, turned around, and saw who it was.
"What are you doing here?" Tiff asked, seemingly puzzled.
The person in front of her took off their hat, looked at Tiffany with fierce eyes and a cold tone, and said, "Of course I'll follow you, you know perfectly well why, Duchess."
In this setting, the scars on his face look even more frightening.
“Hoande, what are you doing?” Tiff asked calmly.
"Can't you tell?" he said, charging at Tiffany. "I'm going to kill you!"
Tiff dodged his magical attack, snapped her fingers, and a soundproof barrier appeared above their heads. "You really aren't careful at all. What if someone heard the noise and came over? How are you going to explain that then?"
"No need to explain, because if he comes over, he'll only see your corpse." One magical attack after another was launched at Tiffany.
"You can't possibly only have this much power?" Tiff's tone was somewhat sarcastic. "Is this all the strength of someone ranked fifth?"
Hoander's eyes flashed with malice as a massive ball of lightning crashed down from above Tiff's head, creating a huge hole.
All around was silent. Hoander walked to the side of the hole, leaned out to look, and found it completely empty, without a single hair. Someone poked his back and a voice came from inside.
"Hmm, really impressive." The tone, like that of someone coaxing a child, infuriated him, and he was about to make another move.
Tiff spoke up: "Now, isn't it my turn?" A fire whip appeared in his palm, and he lashed it at Hoander, throwing him into the cave.
Hoander thought it was just an ordinary lash, but he never expected that even with great effort, he couldn't get up from the ground and kept spitting out mouthfuls of blood.
He underestimated Tiffany, but it can't be called arrogance. After all, Tiffany was seventh on the ranking list, two places below him. That person asked him to kill Tiffany, and he thought it would be easy, but he didn't expect to be defeated by her.
Spitting out a mouthful of blood, Hoander looked at Tiffany with a certainty: "You're hiding your true strength."
Tiffany curled her lips slightly, said nothing, and jumped into the hole.
“Who sent you?” Hoander looked at her. “Whoever you think it is, that’s who it is.”
Seeing that he didn't want to reveal who was behind it all, Tiffany didn't force him.
She squatted down, resting her chin on her hand, and muttered to herself, "Ferran? Hmm... probably not. He doesn't have that much power to tamper with the notes."
“That’s Hicks.” When he said the name, there was a moment of surprise in Hoander’s eyes. Tiffany found it amusing. “Why are you so surprised? There are only a few people I have a grudge against. You can figure it out without thinking.”
"Where do you want to go after you graduate?" Her topic changed so quickly that Huo Ande couldn't figure out what she wanted to do, so he tentatively said, "The Magic Tower, of course."
"What a pity, it's a shame that the Magic Tower is about to lose a genius magician."
"You're going to kill me!" Hoander exclaimed in disbelief.
"It's strange, why are you so surprised that I can kill you but you're surprised that I can kill you?"
"Shouldn't you have been prepared to die when you came here?"
Hoander fell silent for a moment, then spoke up, “Everyone praises you as a lady, a role model for noblewomen.”
“So, you want me to let you go,” Tiff said before he could speak. “That’s all an act, of course.”
"I'm sorry, but you're about to be dealt with by me." Before he could even speak, she lashed him with the whip again. Hoander lay on the ground, barely breathing, while Tiffany muttered to herself, "You attacked me so many times, so three lashes in return isn't too much to ask, is it?"
After saying that, another lash struck him, leaving him a bloody mess; he was no longer breathing.
Looking at the corpse on the ground, Tiffany expressionlessly took out an amulet from her pocket and threw it at Hoander. The amulet burst into flames the moment it touched the body, and soon only ashes remained.
When Margaret's amulet is used in conjunction with fire magic, no magical aura can be detected.
After restoring everything to its original state, Tiff tidied her hair and, sensing the location of the stone imbued with Hicks' magical aura, walked in one direction.
