In the afternoon, Lin Yue was sorting through some herbs at home, which she had collected from the mountains earlier. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Lin Yue opened the door and saw the little boy's mother, carrying a basket of eggs. The little boy's mother said somewhat apologetically, "Mrs. Chen, these are eggs from our own chickens. There aren't many, but you must accept them. Thank you for saving my child." Lin Yue quickly declined, "Sister, you're too kind. I can't accept them. I'm a doctor; saving children is my responsibility."
After much back and forth, Lin Yue finally gave in and accepted the eggs. After the little boy's mother left, Lin Yue looked at the eggs in her hand, a sense of emotion washing over her. She knew this wasn't just about a few eggs; it was about the villagers' recognition and gratitude, even though some still questioned her methods.
The next day, Lin Yue went to help water the vegetable garden in the village. In the garden, she overheard the villagers discussing what had happened the day before.
"Do you think Chen's daughter-in-law's method is really okay? The child seems fine today, but who knows what will happen in the future?"
"I think she's just making a fuss over nothing. Our ancestors have always used herbs to treat injuries, and we're fine."
Lin Yue listened to the discussions without getting angry. She put down the bucket and walked to the villagers. "If you have any questions, I can explain it to you. Our bodies are like a piece of land. If there is a wound, it's like a crack in the land, and bacteria, like weeds, will take the opportunity to grow in. Disinfection is like pulling out these weeds, allowing the wound to heal better." Lin Yue explained to the villagers using a simple and easy-to-understand analogy.
Some villagers nodded, seemingly understanding, but others stuck to their own opinions. Just then, a villager rushed over, shouting, "Something terrible has happened! Uncle Wang has suddenly fainted while working in the field!" Upon hearing this, everyone dropped what they were doing and ran towards the scene.
Lin Yue followed the villagers to the scene. There lay Uncle Wang on the ground, his face bluish-purple, his lips trembling slightly. Lin Yue rushed over to check on him and found that his breathing was very weak and his heartbeat was irregular. She suspected that Uncle Wang might have suddenly fallen ill, but further examination was needed to determine the exact illness.
Lin Yue had the villagers carry Uncle Wang to a flat, well-ventilated place. Then she loosened Uncle Wang's collar to allow him to breathe more easily. At this moment, the village's barefoot doctor also arrived. He felt Uncle Wang's pulse, his brow furrowed, "I've never seen this before, I don't know what to do."
Without hesitation, Lin Yue began to provide first aid to Uncle Wang. She started with CPR, rhythmically pressing on Uncle Wang's chest, while instructing the villagers nearby to help with artificial respiration. The villagers had never seen such a first aid method before and were somewhat surprised, but they still followed Lin Yue's instructions.
After a tense emergency treatment, Uncle Wang finally showed some signs of life. His complexion gradually regained some color, and his breathing became more stable. Lin Yue wiped the sweat from her forehead and breathed a sigh of relief. This emergency treatment once again demonstrated Lin Yue's unique medical skills to the villagers.
However, this incident did not convince all the villagers of Lin Yue's abilities. Some conservative villagers believed that Uncle Wang's recovery was due to good luck and had nothing to do with Lin Yue's emergency treatment methods. But some villagers, especially the younger ones, began to develop a strong interest in Lin Yue's medical skills, finding her methods miraculous.
In the following days, Lin Yue encountered several more villagers who were injured or fell ill. Each time, she used her professional knowledge and modern medical methods to provide treatment. During this process, she also continuously explained basic medical knowledge to the villagers, such as how to prevent illness and how to treat injuries.
Once, a girl in the village accidentally burned her hand while cooking. Lin Yue rushed over as soon as she heard about it. She wrapped ice in a clean cloth and gently applied it to the girl's burned hand, then applied some of her homemade burn ointment. This method of treating burns amazed the villagers, as they had previously used folk remedies that weren't very effective.
As Lin Yue treated more and more patients, the villagers' attitudes toward her became more complex. Some people began to trust her and would actively seek her help when they were sick or injured; while others remained skeptical of her methods and even secretly gossiped that she was a "weirdo" who used strange methods to cure diseases.
But Lin Yue wasn't swayed by these negative voices. She knew that changing people's perceptions would be a long process, and she wanted to prove the effectiveness of modern medicine through her actions. In this process, she also felt her value in the village. She was no longer just a confused time traveler, but someone who could use her medical skills to help the villagers. Her relationship with the villagers gradually changed; she began to truly integrate into the village and become a part of its life.
During a casual chat, Lin Yue mentioned to Aunt Liu the villagers' opinions of her. Aunt Liu smiled and said, "Child, don't take it to heart. In this village, people are slow to accept new things. You did the right thing. As long as it saves lives, people will naturally understand in time." Lin Yue nodded, "Aunt Liu, I know, I won't give up. I just want everyone to be healthy and suffer less from illness."
As time went by, Lin Yue's reputation spread throughout the village. People from several nearby villages also heard about this educated youth's wife who could cure illnesses using unusual methods. Some people from other villages even brought their sick to Lin Yue for treatment. Lin Yue received them all and did her best to help each patient. Her good deeds not only gave the villagers a new understanding of her but also made people from surrounding villages look at this small village with new respect.
