Chapter 58 Difficulties

At dawn, as the sun rose, its soft light bathed every corner of the village, casting a golden veil over the small village. An atmosphere of both excitement and tension permeated the village. Thanks to the previous efforts, the packaged new crops were neatly stacked beside the transport vehicles, like soldiers about to embark on their journey.

Lin Yue got up early, a hint of worry in her eyes. She had tossed and turned all night, constantly worrying about problems with transportation and sales. Standing in the yard, gazing at the mountains of new crops, she silently prayed for everything to go smoothly. Lin Yue wore a plain-colored cloth shirt today, with a few inconspicuous patches—a symbol of her diligence and thrift. Her hair was simply braided, a few strands falling across her face, adding to her gentle appearance. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but her tightly clenched hands betrayed her unease.

Chen Yu came out of the house and, seeing Lin Yue's expression, gently patted her shoulder. "Yue'er, don't worry too much, we're all well-prepared." His voice was hoarse with the characteristic huskiness of early morning, but it had a comforting power. Chen Yu wore a dark short-sleeved shirt, his muscular arms exposed, his bronze skin glowing healthily in the sunlight. His eyes were firm, and the corners of his mouth were slightly upturned, trying to give Lin Yue confidence.

Lin Yue turned to look at Chen Yu, forcing a smile: "I hope so, but I still feel uneasy." Her brows furrowed slightly, and a complex emotion flashed in her eyes, a fear of unknown difficulties and a worry for the future of the village.

The two arrived at the village entrance, where the transport team's drivers were making final preparations. The village chief was also there, talking with the team leader. Seeing Lin Yue and Chen Yu, the village chief approached them and said, "Everything's ready. We're just waiting to set off. I hope you have a safe journey." The village chief's eyes held anticipation, but also a hint of worry. He wore a slightly worn Zhongshan suit, every fold seemingly etched with a sense of responsibility for the village.

The transport team leader nodded to Lin Yu and said, "Don't worry, village chief, we're off now." He then jumped into the driver's seat and started the car. The vehicle slowly started moving, kicking up a cloud of dust. The villagers waved goodbye, their eyes filled with anticipation and reluctance. Lin Yue watched the convoy drive away, silently praying, "Please stay safe."

However, their worries became a reality. The convoy encountered trouble on a mountain road dozens of miles from the village. A large landslide had occurred ahead due to the torrential rains of the previous days, blocking the already narrow mountain path with boulders and mud, making it impassable. The transport team leader slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the vehicle to assess the situation. His brow furrowed, and a grave expression crossed his face as he muttered, "This is troublesome. Such a large landslide won't be cleared anytime soon."

The drivers in the following vehicles also got out and gathered around. A young driver said anxiously, "Captain, what should we do? We can't just wait here. This new crop can't wait." His eyes showed panic, and he kept wringing his hands.

The captain looked around, pondered for a moment, and then said, "Let's report the situation to the village and Boss Zhao first, and see what they can do." After saying that, he instructed a driver to contact the village via radio.

At that moment, Lin Yue and Chen Yu, who were waiting for news in the village, received a report from the transport team. Lin Yue's heart sank, and her face turned pale. "I knew it wouldn't go so smoothly, what are we going to do?" She paced anxiously, her eyes filled with helplessness.

Chen Yu frowned, but he tried to remain calm. "Don't rush, let's think of something first. Maybe we can ask the villagers nearby to help with the cleanup; more manpower will make it faster." He held Lin Yue's hand, trying to calm her down.

The village chief, who was listening nearby, immediately sent people to nearby villages for help. Meanwhile, Boss Zhao also learned of the situation and rushed over. Boss Zhao frowned, a hint of anxiety flashing in his eyes: "This is a real problem. If it can't be resolved in time, not only will the new crops be damaged, but the best time for sales will also be missed." He was wearing a black suit, and his usual composure and confidence seemed somewhat diminished.

While waiting for nearby villagers to arrive, Lin Yue and Chen Yu decided to check out the landslide site first. They rode their bicycles along the rugged mountain road. Lin Yue's heart was heavy all the way; her mind was filled with all sorts of terrible scenarios. Upon arriving at the scene, seeing the chaotic mess on the road, Lin Yue's heart sank. Huge boulders blocked the road, and mountains of mud piled up; clearing them would be no easy task.

Chen Yu walked up to the transport team leader and asked, "Captain, what are your thoughts? With such a large workload, relying solely on manpower might not be enough." He looked at the collapsed section of road, a hint of helplessness in his eyes.

The team leader shook his head helplessly: "Yes, we need to find some tools, preferably construction machinery." His eyes looked into the distance, as if searching for a solution.

Just when everyone was at a loss, villagers from nearby villages arrived one after another. Some carried hoes, others shovels; although their tools were simple, their eyes shone with enthusiasm. An elderly villager said, "We're all from neighboring villages; when there's trouble, we all help each other." His face was covered in wrinkles, but his eyes were very determined.

Lin Yue looked at the villagers with tears in her eyes, deeply moved: "Thank you everyone, thank you so much." She bowed deeply to them.
