Just as everyone in the hall thought Guan Zhiyue had fallen asleep in the chair, Li Qishang walked in after being announced by a servant.
"This humble general pays his respects to the carefree prince."
"This humble general pays his respects to the carefree prince."
"This humble general pays his respects to the carefree prince."
Three clear voices rang out, interrupting Guan Zhiyue, who was lost in thought.
Li Qishang walked up to Guan Zhiyue, smiled and clasped his hands in a fist salute, saying, "Sister-in-law, didn't we agree to visit together? I've been waiting for you for so long!"
Guan Zhiyue looked at Li Qishang, who was complaining to her, and then at the three grown men present. She swallowed hard, somewhat at a loss, and said, "The prince said he was coming to visit my father."
Guan Hongsheng stared wide-eyed in disbelief. Although he knew the Prince of Xiaoyao, they were definitely not close enough to be able to interact. What was going on?
"I'm sorry to have troubled you, Prince Xiaoyao."
"General Guan, you're too kind. If it weren't for you back then, I probably wouldn't be in this world anymore." Li Qishang sat down to the side of the main seat, looked at Guan Zhiyue, and then at Guan Hongsheng.
"It's been so long, Your Highness is being too serious."
"A life-saving grace should be repaid with a spring of gratitude, it's a pity..." Li Qishang felt a little disgusted when he said this. Looking at Guan Zhiyue's gossipy little eyes, he knew that she had forgotten him. She must have forgotten the half year they spent together.
Guan Hongsheng knew what the Prince of Xiaoyao meant by "a pity," and he also knew what the Prince of Xiaoyao meant by looking at his daughter, but if he...
Guan Hongsheng stopped thinking about it, shook his head to shake off the annoying thoughts in his mind, and turned to look at Guan Zhiyue sitting next to him, saying, "Yue'er, you must be tired from traveling. Go back to your room and rest for a while!"
Guan Zhiyue glanced at the people in the living room, nodded without saying anything more, got up, bowed, and then led Bilian back to the courtyard where she had been married.
The Neon Courtyard.
When Guan Zhiyue arrived at the courtyard where the original owner used to live, the name of the courtyard immediately brought to mind Li Bai's poem: "Clouds remind me of her clothes, flowers of her face; the spring breeze caresses the balustrade, and the dew is heavy."
The courtyard was decorated in Guan Zhiyue's preferred style, with white pebbles paving the ground, making the whole courtyard look particularly large and bright. A swing was hanging under a large cherry blossom tree.
"It seems like the furnishings in this courtyard haven't been moved?" Guan Zhiyue asked Bilian beside her uncertainly. Bilian looked around and then nodded.
"Yes, Your Majesty, this courtyard is exactly the same as it was before you got married."
Just as Guan Zhiyue was about to say something, Guan Chengheng's voice came from the doorway.
"Of course! We haven't changed a thing about Yue'er's favorite courtyard!"
Guan Zhiyue looked in the direction of the sound and saw a man in a blue brocade robe standing at the gate of the courtyard with his hands behind his back and a smile on his face, just like Guan Zhiyue before she got married.
"Second Brother, what brings you here?"
"What? Can't I come?"
Guan Zhiyue smiled and stepped forward to take Guan Chengheng's arm. Guan Chengheng then pulled out two bright red candied hawthorns from behind his back.
"Ah, candied hawthorn, is this for me, second brother?"
Guan Chengheng affectionately handed the candied hawthorn to Guan Zhiyue, then gently pinched her nose and said in a very intimate tone, "Silly girl, isn't this for you or for myself?"
“This is for Bilian, you get one too.”
"Ah! Thank you, young general, thank you." Bilian quickly bowed to Guan Chengheng, her face beaming with smiles.
Before their young mistress got married, the young general would always bring her a share of food whenever he bought it for her. She was the most favored servant in the Guan family and was respected no matter which courtyard she went to.
Guan Zhiyue took her second brother's hand and walked towards the swing. Guan Zhiyue sat on it, and Guan Chengheng, as always, stood behind her and pushed the swing so that she could swing high. Her joyful laughter always filled the whole yard.
"Yue'er, shall your second brother push you up high?"
Guan Zhiyue handed the half-eaten candied hawthorn to Bilian, grabbed the two sides of the swing with both hands, turned her head to look at her second brother, who was standing quietly behind her just like when they were children, and gently pushed the swing.
"Wow... Hahahaha..."
"Second brother, push it higher! Wow, higher!"
"Okay, be careful!"
"Yue'er, hold on tight to the rope!"
Guan Zhiyue was swung high on the swing, and her cheers came from the bottom of her heart, which infected the people present.
The woman's silvery laughter echoed throughout the entire Ni Chang Courtyard, and her joyful cheers resounded throughout the Guan Manor. Even Guan Hongsheng, who was chatting idly in the front hall, couldn't help but smile when he heard the sounds of laughter and merriment coming from the backyard.
"General Guan, this..."
"Hahaha, it must be my little girl, swinging on the swings with her second brother again!" Guan Hongsheng said with a smile, picking up the teacup on the table and taking a sip of tea.
Li Qishang knew perfectly well that Guan Hongsheng was trying to get rid of him, but he refused to comply and decided to stay and have dinner there.
Guan Hongsheng coughed awkwardly, looking at Li Qishang who wasn't even glancing at him, and then picked up his teacup to look at Li Qishang again.
Without looking up, Li Qishang asked, "General, are you feeling unwell?"
Guan Hongsheng: "..."
Guan Chengzhuo, who was sitting to the side, almost burst out laughing. He also saw that his father wanted to drive away the Prince of Xiaoyao, but the Prince of Xiaoyao didn't even glance at his father.
"This humble general is fine, thank you for your concern, Your Highness." Guan Hongsheng said this through gritted teeth.
Hearing the laughter coming from the backyard, Li Qishang really wanted to go and see for himself, to experience it for himself.
He suddenly stood up and swaggered towards the backyard.
Guan Hongsheng and Guan Chengzhuo were somewhat confused about what this prince meant.
"Your Highness..."
"What's wrong, General Guan? I heard that my sister-in-law seems to be having a lot of fun in the backyard. I'm quite envious of her!"
"Why can't I go and see? I'm not an outsider, she's my sister-in-law."
Guan Hongsheng: "..."
So Li Qishang led the Guan family father and son into the backyard. As soon as they reached the curtained door, they heard Guan Zhiyue's heartfelt laughter, Guan Chengheng's concerned voice, and Bilian's happy voice.
"Yue'er, you'd better hold on tight!"
"Hahaha, okay, I understand...."
The three of them walked to the entrance of the Ni Chang Courtyard without saying a word to disturb the joy they were sharing, or Guan Zhiyue's laughter.
"Your Highness, Master, Young General, what brings you here?" Bilian asked, looking at the three large men standing at the door.
Hearing Bilian's voice, Guan Zhiyue, who was swinging high up, turned her head to look at the doorway with a look of surprise. Little did she know that she had lost her grip and the momentum of the swing threw her off the swing.
"ah......"
With lightning speed, Li Qishang leaped towards Guan Zhiyue, catching her as she plummeted downwards. Guan Zhiyue, resigned to her fate, closed her eyes, offering no screams or expectations, her mind a complete blank.
"Bang..."
A loud crash came from the sky. Li Qishang, who was pinned down, felt a sharp pain in his shoulder, but he still forced himself to check if Guan Zhiyue was injured.
"Yue'er, are you hurt?"
Guan Zhiyue was still in a daze and hadn't even had a chance to speak when the Guan father and son and Bilian rushed over.
"Yue'er..."
"Your Highness..."
"Your Majesty..."
Suddenly, shouts and cries filled the courtyard. Guan Zhiyue stared blankly at Li Qishang, whom she had pinned down, his face contorted with pain, and the large beads of sweat on his face. She grew anxious.
Are you alright?
"Yue'er, are you alright? Let your father take a look."
The incident happened too suddenly. Although the three members of the Guan family used their lightness skills to leap to their daughter's side, they were still not as fast as Li Qishang, which is why Li Qishang caught Guan Zhiyue.
Guan Zhiyue looked terrified and immediately threw herself into Guan Hongsheng's arms. She didn't cry, but she was still scared and thought that Li Qishang must have been injured by her.
"Quickly, find a doctor..."
The Guan family immediately became busy...
