Chapter 58: Slow interrogates again.

Chapter 58: Slow interrogates again.

The peaceful days passed quietly, like a brief respite before a storm.

Lu Jin did not leave her alone at the residence any longer.

Sang Li joked that the two of them were like conjoined twins.

She said Lu Jin was really too nervous.

Lu Jin stated that this was simply him fulfilling his duty.

The following week, they went to work together on the morning of the second week.

The car smoothly entered the Ecological Management Bureau's parking lot. The sun was shining brightly outside, and there were hardly any people in the park. Sang Li leaned against the car window, observing the outside world with the curiosity of a child. Her long hair fell slightly, and her shadow swayed gently beneath her eyelashes.

As soon as they entered the main building, Zhou Fangyang and Tang Lan came to greet them.

Tang Lan looked helpless, his expression darkening slightly: "Boss, I'm really fed up. BEAM-0248 requested a meeting, but if we were to interrogate them, they absolutely refused to talk. We've tried everything."

Lu Jin stopped, his tone flat, as if he had already guessed: "So from yesterday to today, he refused your interrogation?"

Zhou Fangyang was also quite helpless: "Boss, I can't do anything about it either. Tang Lan has tried everything, and Sister Yu was almost ready to take action. You know what, although Sister Yu doesn't usually talk much, she almost beat up this kind of human trafficker. But 0248 is stubborn and won't say a word, saying that he wants to see you and Sang Li."

Tang Lan mimicked how Yu Qi had acted back then, making a gesture.

Lu Jin: "Understood."

Zhou Fangyang glanced at Sang Li.

Lu Jin: "I have brought Sang Li with me."

"Huh? Me?" Sang Li pointed to herself. "Am I also going to participate in the interrogation?"

It seems like this is a real interrogation play.

“He only recognizes you,” Tang Lan was almost driven crazy by Slo. “He said, ‘She has seen me and I have drawn her.’ He won’t say a word if he doesn’t see you. He’s really out of his mind. I’ve never seen such a stubborn anomaly. He said that if he doesn’t see you, many inexplicable and terrible things will happen… Look, he’s even thinking of threatening us.”

Sang Li muttered to herself, "Do I really have that kind of charm? Let's go then, do we need to disguise ourselves for the interrogation?"

Lu Jin: ?

Sang Li: "Do you have a uniform I can wear to look more formal?"

Lu Jin: "I will confiscate your iPad and cancel your account."

I can't play games anymore.

It's all the fault of games.

"I was wrong." Sang Li raised her hands in surrender. "I won't try to be clever anymore."

Tang Lan asked curiously, "Have you been listening to the boss so much lately?"

Sang Li answered honestly, "He topped up my account."

Tang Lan: "Oh? That's great! Boss doesn't seem like that kind of person. He actually supports you playing games. He himself only knows how to play cards, he can't even play mahjong, and he knows nothing about computer games and doesn't even care about them."

Sang Li shrugged: "Maybe he had a change of heart. He keeps losing me. The protection measures for me are inadequate, which means there's a 100% chance I'll end up in danger. It would damage his reputation if word got out."

Tang Lan whispered, "When you were arrested, you scared the boss to death. You did everything you were told not to do!"

Sang Li snorted: "Is that so? If I'm that important, he should give me other small cards."

Tang Lan: "So, may I ask if we can treat the boss to a meal today?"

"Sure, I'll make him treat us!"

"Sister Yu will thank you too! After all, we can't take advantage of the Management Bureau, so we can only take advantage of the boss."

It's not good to be treated to a meal by a leader.

The interrogation room door slowly opened, and the heavy scraping sound of metal echoed all around.

Sang Li followed Lu Jin inside; the lights were so bright they were blinding.

Behind the interrogation table, a thin, pale face quietly appeared under the light.

Sloan.

BEAM-0248, The Person in the Painting.

He was wearing a white shirt, the cuffs neatly buttoned, his hands folded on the table, his slender frame giving him a somewhat sickly appearance. The moment he looked up and saw Sang Li, his face seemed to light up instantly, and he began to smile.

To be honest, he doesn't look like he's dangerous at all.

“You’ve finally arrived,” Slo said, his lips pale.

Sang Li: "Yes, I've come to see you with a sense of humanistic concern."

"So that's why you're with them?" He sighed softly. "Isn't this a betrayal of us?"

Sang Li: "..."

Is this such a sharp question coming right off the bat?

Lu Jin tapped the metal tabletop as a warning: "I've brought the person. So, what are your motives and goals?"

Slo ignored him and didn't even look at Lu Jin, as if Lu Jin was not worth mentioning in his eyes.

He looked at Sang Li through the glass, his gaze dreamy: "You are just as beautiful as when we first met."

His tone was devoid of sarcasm or provocation; it even carried a morbid reverence.

Sang Li frowned slightly: "Have we met before?"

Slo nodded, a subtle smile curving his lips.

"In Paris, you approached my art stall and looked at that painting for a long time. A raven stood on top of a bell tower, with a burning sky in the background."

He paused, his gaze growing increasingly fascinated. "You asked the price, but didn't buy it. You said it was too sad."

Sang Li was stunned.

Her mind went blank; she couldn't recall the memory at all.

Then.

Sang Li asked, "How much?"

Slo was taken aback: "What?"

Sang Li: "How much did that painting cost?"

Sloan: "Five hundred euros."

Sang Li: "It is indeed too expensive, I won't buy it."

Lu Jin: "..."
