Chapter 32 Notice

Chapter 32 Notice

Sanshui Village.

Old Man Liu, along with his three sons and one grandson, ran frantically, but ultimately could not escape the clutches of Nie Feiying, a veteran of the battlefield.

With a flying kick, Nie Feiying sent Old Man Liu, who was the weakest and lagging behind, crashing into his fence.

The other four Liu family men who ran into the courtyard looked back and didn't know whether they should run away or not.

Nie Feiying sneered, "You're all running here, even into the yard. Is this your home?"

He picked up Old Man Liu, who was groaning in pain, and said, "Come on, let's go inside."

Old Man Liu was as timid as a chick at this moment.

The women of the Liu family came out after hearing the commotion.

Liu Mei, who had been feeling uneasy, saw Nie Feiying and, ignoring her pounding heart, forced herself to step forward and demand, "Who are you? How dare you bully people in our village!"

Upon hearing someone call Old Man Liu "Dad," Nie Feiying released the person in his arms.

Now that we've found our way home, there's no need to rush.

Nie Feiying took out his identification and flashed it in front of everyone in the darkness. "You'll find out who I am when the police arrive."

Having gone through thick and thin with Wei Yang, Nie Feiying understood Wei Yang's ways and was certain that he would call the police. Now, all he needed to do was wait here and keep an eye on him.

Liu Mei had no idea what was going on, and didn't dare to ask any questions rashly, so she could only keep quiet with her uncertain mood.

Seeing that Nie Feiying had an unusual aura, and with the light illuminating Nie Feiying's military uniform, Boss Liu swallowed hard and asked, "We haven't done anything illegal or disorderly."

Nie Feiying said calmly, "Then why are you running? If you're not feeling guilty, why are you running?"

Boss Liu fell silent.

The Liu family members exchanged glances and fell into an eerie silence.

Nie Feiying snorted, ignored the Liu family, and sat down against the wall.

Although it was cold at night, he had stood guard in much colder and harsher places before.

The car arrived at the county hospital quickly, and Wei Yang carried Li Guangming inside without stopping.

Chang Guangtao tugged at Song Lubai's sleeve and asked anxiously, "Auntie, that person shouldn't be dead, right?"

Song Lubai shook her head: "Who knows?"

"You should go back first; your aunt and the others are probably worried."

Chang Guangtao then remembered what happened at home, patted his head, and said, "My dad will definitely beat me when I get back."

Song Lubai felt a chill when she thought of her mother.

She left in such a hurry that she didn't think about the consequences. Now that she thinks about it, she'll definitely get a scolding from her mother when she gets back. Her mother is probably worried sick about her now.

Wei Yang, whose military uniform was stained with blood, approached and overheard the conversation between the two.

"Is it far? I'll take you back first."

Chang Guangtao shook his head: "I know the way, I can go back by myself. It's just my aunt, her home is in the city."

Wei Yang turned his gaze to Song Lubai.

Song Lubai wanted to go back to reassure her mother, but she was also worried that Li Guangming was dead, so she hesitated a bit.

Wei Yang said, "How about this, your family must be worried about you being out at night. I'll take you two home first. You mentioned before that this man's family lives in the city, so I'll bring his family over to look after him."

Song Lubai hesitated: "If we all leave, will no one take care of him?"

Wei Yang: "It's alright, I'll go find a nurse and ask the medical staff to keep an eye on things."

Wei Yang left for a while and then returned, leading the two of them outside.

Under Chang Guangtao's direction, the car quickly arrived at his yard.

The Chang family members were still awake, fearing something might happen to Chang Guangtao.

Now that he's back and Song Lubai is alright, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhang Lan wanted to ask more questions, but Song Lubai didn't give her a chance and got into the car and drove off.

Chang Guangtao was dragged into the yard by his ear.

The car quickly entered the city and arrived at the dormitory building of the food factory. Song Lubai invited Wei Yang to come up for a drink of water and to clean himself up.

Wei Yang hesitated, "Isn't that inconvenient? Just tell me that comrade's address, and I'll go directly to his house to inform him."

Song Lubai shook her head honestly, "I only know that he is an employee of the department store. I have to ask my mother for the specific address. You've been running around for so long, come up and have a drink of water. You can tell my mother and the others about the situation."

Wei Yang then moved.

It was almost eleven o'clock. At this hour, most families in the tenement building would have already turned off their lights and gone to sleep. The sound of their footsteps echoed in the stairwell.

The lights in Song Lubai's house were still on.

Song Lubai pushed open the door like a thief and saw her mother sitting at the table, resting her chin on her hand.

The moment Zhang Cui saw Song Lubai, the surprise in her eyes quickly turned into anger.

Without saying a word, Zhang Cui got up and started pinching her.

"Where have you been all day, you brat? You finally decided to come back!"

Song Lubai dodged away, "Mom, Mom, there are still people here. Li Guangming was in a car accident. Do you know where he lives? We need to notify his family right away."

Zhang Cui, who was about to beat her daughter with her bare hands, stopped in mid-air, incredulous: "What?"

Song Lubai welcomed Wei Yang in and, while pouring him water, recounted the whole story.

Wei Yang's green military uniform inspired trust in people subconsciously, but Zhang Cui glanced at Song Lubai suspiciously after figuring out the whole story.

Song Lubai ran away like she'd seen a ghost in the morning, and came back with this news. It feels like she knew something beforehand.

"Mom, do we have any extra clothes? This Comrade Wei is covered in blood."

Wei Yang refused: "There's no need to change it now. Let's notify the Li family first."

Zhang Cui went into the house and found a navy blue coat. "Put this on first. It's all bloody and scary. It's okay at night, but it's not good during the day."

Song Lubai brought back a basin of water, and Wei Yang quickly washed himself before taking Zhang Cui out the door.

Song Lubai wanted to go with them, but Zhang Cui refused to let her.

Before leaving, Wei Yang instructed, "Don't go anywhere these two days. The police will definitely come to find you and ask about the situation. We'll return the bicycle tomorrow."

Song Lubai: "Okay, thank you for your hard work."

Having been on the go all day, Song Lubai had only eaten one meal and was now feeling incredibly hungry.

Lin Dahai came out wearing a coat, and asked as if in a daze, "Li Guangming was in a car accident? Why did you decide to go to the countryside today?"

Song Lubai gave a vague answer, "I just suddenly wanted to go to the countryside to take a look, who knew it would be such a coincidence that we ran into each other on the road."

“I think his car accident was not an accident. There were a few people in the ditch at the time. When the soldiers drove up, five of them covered their faces and ran away.”

Lin Dahai nodded solemnly, "It really is... the countryside is really unsafe."

"Don't wander off like that again. What if something happens?"

These were human words, and Song Lubai didn't argue with him, obediently nodding in agreement.

Lin Dahai muttered to himself, "I hope nothing happens to that kid..."

Lying back in bed, Song Lubai tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Li Guangming's face covered in blood.

She prayed that nothing bad would happen to Li Guangming.

She couldn't make out the faces of the five shadowy figures, but she inexplicably felt that they were inextricably linked to Liu Mei's family.

In a daze, Zhang Cui returned.

Song Lubai poked her head out, "Mom, how is it?"

Zhang Cui: "Go to sleep. We've found Li Guangming's house. He's already gone to the county town. Go to sleep now."
