Chapter 35 If You Die, I Will Be a Widow

Song Chen saw that she had her head down and looked as if she was a thousand miles away.

He rubbed her head and said, "What are you thinking about?"

Lin Lu wanted to ask: How do you feel about Sister Qiaoer now?

Worried about being retaliated by this person, he changed his mouth and said, "Nothing."

Song Chen exposed her: "It's all written on your face, and you still don't say it."

She just stole a few glances at him. If Song Chen couldn't figure out what she meant, he would have been in the army for so many years in vain.

"I was honest with her and had no ulterior motives. I offered her a helping hand because we were former classmates."

I also feel a bit of the same feeling of being abandoned.

Lin Lu praised sincerely, "You are thoughtful." But his tone became sarcastic.

Not only was he not angry, he even smiled strangely.

The voice is bright and clear, and the smile is sincere.

He explained, "I'm not lying to you. If I tell you a lie, I'll be struck by lightning."

Lin Lu: "Don't do that. If you die, I'll be a widow. Who will make money to support me?"

He smiled and said, "I won't let you be a widow. I will support you for the rest of your life."

Lin Lu: "How does it feel to be almost a widower?"

Song Chen put away his smile and called her name in a deep voice: "Lin Lu."

"Um?"

"Don't say that again."

He would also be afraid and helpless.

I will never let the person who I have finally pulled back from the brink of death leave me again.

Whenever I think back to the scene of her lying helpless on the operating table, my heart feels like it's being tightly grasped by a pair of big hands, making it difficult to breathe.

"Oh, I won't say that anymore."

——

When Li Xianglian returned home at noon, she put the beans in a bucket to soak. In the afternoon, when the beans were soaked, she took them out and made soup.

There is an underground water well at home. Li Xianglian puts the cooked soup into the well to cool it down, and also puts the leftover fruits and vegetables into the well.

Much more convenient.

When she saw and heard the voices of Lin Lu and the others, she went back to the well room and brought out mung bean soup.

"It's cooked, try it."

Lin Lu couldn't drink any more after drinking half a bowl, and asked Li Xianglian how many soaked beans were left.

"You asked me to soak more, so I soaked two pounds and cooked half a pound, leaving one and a half pounds. What do you want to do with it?"

"Mung bean cake." She had worked in a pastry shop while working part-time in Kyoto, and she knew how to make many kinds of pastries.

Although the taste is not as good as that of the master chef, the skills are still good enough to make it for my family.

"Mung bean cake? Is it delicious?" Li Xianglian had been rough all her life and had never eaten any cakes.

She kept all the things Lin Lu sent back over the years in the cabinet, and took them out from time to time to coax Lin Jingbei.

Lin Lu didn't dare to brag: "You'll know when you try it later."

Li Xianglian: "Okay, the beans have been soaking for four or five hours. You two can do it. I'll go to the field and plant the seeds."

There was a bowl of ice-cold mung bean soup in the lunch box, and Li Xianglian couldn't hide her smile.

Song Chen turned on the TV and the fan and asked Lin Lu, "Should we take a break or start now?"

Lin Lu: "Let's start now. We can eat when everyone comes back."

Song Chen went to the well room to get some beans, and had no intention of leaving.

"Don't you want to go to the brick factory?" Lin Lu asked.

Song Chen: "With them watching over me, it's okay for me to take a break for half a day."

We spend so much money to hire workers so that they can work, not just eat.

"I said you have no conscience."

Lin Lu: "You just found out? Didn't you say I was a ruthless person a long time ago?"

Well, that was when I said something without thinking during the argument.

Song Chen replied childishly, "You're saying I'm not ambitious."

Lin Lu: "Did I say something wrong?"

Song Chen didn't respond to her. He picked up the beans, looked at them, and asked, "How do you make them?"

Lin Lu said, "Peel the beans first."

"Take them all off?" But it weighs one and a half pounds.

"Make one pound first, and keep the remaining half a pound."

Song Chen weighed it roughly and scooped out half a pound of mung beans.

His palms were broad and the beans had been softened by soaking. He rubbed them hard and some of the bean skins fell off.

"I'll go with you."

Once the bean curd skin is peeled, the most troublesome step is done.

"Next, steam the peeled beans for forty minutes. Remember to poke some holes for air to vent."

Song Chen followed her instructions, put a layer of cloth on the steamer, and slowly spread the beans on it.

During the forty-minute gap, the two of them watched a boring TV series to pass the time.

The TV series is so melodramatic that Lin Lu is too lazy to complain about it.

Song Chen, however, watched with great interest.

"It should be okay, go and take a look." Lin Lu patted him.

Song Chen stood up and went to the kitchen to bring the beans over.

Lin Lu: "Bring a spoon and a large bowl and mash the beans into a paste."

Lin Lu has to do this step himself.

Song Chen asked, "Are you going to throw it away after use?"

Lin Lu didn't bother to pay attention to his nonsense, "This is very stress-relieving."

Song Chen: "Are you feeling any pressure?"

Lin Lu: "As a human being, who doesn't feel pressure?"

"Then you can do more." Song Chen smiled, folding his hands and watching her movements.

It is very simple to make mud. "Here you go." Lin Lu pounded it and handed it to the man.

“What to do next?”

"Add sesame oil to the pan and stir-fry, then put it into the mold and shape it."

"No filling? How can we eat it without any flavor?" Song Chen asked. She thought they would add some sugar.

Lin Lu: "If you like, you can add some. I remember my mom made some perilla and sugar that day. It should be delicious if you put it in."

After adding oil and stir-frying, Song Chen took out the mashed perilla and sugar and added a spoonful to each mung bean cake.

Song Chen has nice-looking fingers, and the square mung bean cakes look very cute in his hands.

"Try one?"

Lin Lu took it and took a bite: "It's quite delicious."

Song Chen was busy with his work and leaned over. "Really? Let me try it."

Lin Lu thought he was unsophisticated: "Just make the one in your hand and try it yourself. I've already eaten this one."

Song Chen thought she was unromantic and insisted on trying to taste the piece she had eaten.

"Here you go, here you go. If you eat my saliva, you have to listen to me."

Song Chen didn't know if he was crazy, but he started talking nonsense: "Give me more food, and I'll hit you wherever you point."

Lin Lu stared at him: "Are you possessed by a ghost today? You are talking nonsense."

Song Chen pressed the issue, "This isn't nonsense, it's clearly what's in my heart."

"Brother, big brother, stop talking. Just work hard and don't spit your saliva in there. You will have to finish it by yourself when the time comes." Lin Lu rolled his eyes.

This guy is too addicted.

Song Chen: "You let me work without any reward?"

Lin Lu pointed at the mung bean cake and said, "Eat it. Eat as much as you want."

Turning my attention back to the TV, I saw that the hero and heroine in the TV series were kissing passionately.

Lin Lu changed the channel calmly. Song Chen asked sarcastically, "It's quite nice. Why did you change it?"

"Hey, Song Laosi, what's wrong with you today? Weren't you so cold to me recently?"

When she just woke up, the man was silent.

It is two extremes compared to today.
