He Chen said slowly, "It seems that Fifth Brother went to a classmate's house."
After saying that, he paused for a second and then asked, "What? Does He Jing want to see him about something?"
He Jing shook her head and said, "No, I was just asking."
Soon, Mr. and Mrs. He returned home from get off work.
Without the pressures of life, the two seemed to become ten years younger and even developed a zest for life, holding hands and going to the market to buy groceries after get off work.
Upon seeing the two people in the living room, Mother He called out, "Chenchen, Jingjing."
He Chen put down his computer and stood up from the sofa: "Mom, let me help you."
Afterwards, He Jing was left alone in the living room. She didn't go back to her room, but sat down on the sofa, looking at the door and waiting for He Yi to return.
She thought, "He Yi probably won't stay overnight."
Two hours later, nearing dinner time, He Zhou and Xiao Guo returned, both carrying schoolbags and soaked from the rain.
He Jing stood up in surprise, quickly grabbed a towel and handed it to them, asking, "What's wrong?"
He Zhou said, "It suddenly started pouring rain. The station is quite a distance from home, so I ran back."
He took a towel and wiped Xiaoguo's face, then commanded, "Go take a bath."
He Xiaoguo originally wanted to hug He Jing, but after saying "Oh" and pouting, she put down her schoolbag, went to the balcony to get clean clothes, and went back to her room to take a shower.
He Jing became even more worried about He Yi, wondering if he would be forced to stay at the station because he didn't bring an umbrella if he wanted to get home before dinner.
She then remembered that He Yi didn't have a phone, so she went to the kitchen and said to He Chen, "Sixth Brother, come out for a moment."
He Chen put down the plate and followed He Jing out.
Before He Jing could even speak, He Chen chuckled and said, "Little sister He Jing, are you planning to go to the station to pick up Fifth Brother?"
He Jing nodded and asked, "Sixth Brother, do you have the address of Fifth Brother's classmate's house? I'll take a taxi there to check. I'm worried that Fifth Brother didn't bring an umbrella and won't be able to get back."
He Chen's smile deepened: "Although I don't want He Jing to go because of the heavy rain outside, if you insist on going, I'll go with you."
This was quite unexpected. He Jing asked blankly, "Didn't Sixth Brother dislike Fifth Brother?"
Is he really willing to go in such heavy rain?
He Chen said helplessly, "I can't just give up the chance to spend time with He Jing because I dislike Fifth Brother, can I?"
It has to be said that there's a reason why He Chen is so likable; who wouldn't love someone with that kind of personality?
He Jing nodded emphatically, her tone very cheerful: "Okay, let's go together then."
Having made this decision, the two said goodbye to Mother He, grabbed their umbrellas, and headed out.
The sudden downpour was indeed a torrential rain; it was really heavy. As soon as you stepped into the rain, everything around you became blurred. It was hard to imagine how long it would take He Yi, who didn't have an umbrella, to get home.
He Jing called a ride-hailing service, but the price doubled due to long queues. He Chen calmly gave the driver an address, and the driver headed towards the destination.
Twenty minutes later, He Jing arrived at the bus stop near He Yi's home and saw He Yi all alone.
He sat alone on a long bench at the station, his figure forlorn, his trouser legs seemingly soaked by rainwater blown into the station by the wind.
He Jing was overjoyed. Before she had even fully gotten out of the car, she shouted through the rain, "Fifth Brother!"
He Yi seemed not to hear, and He Chen came out from the other side and hurriedly held an umbrella for He Jing.
Suddenly, a luxury car drove up from the opposite direction and stopped a meter away from He Yi.
Startled, He Yi looked up, then walked over, opened the car door, and got in.
