As soon as Sudanruo finished drying the herbs, he looked up and saw Qu Cheng'an standing in front of his door.
Sultan stood there in a daze, and the two men looked at each other.
A child ran out of the house and hugged Sudanruo's legs.
"Mother, who is he?"
Qu Cheng'an looked at Su Yan, a small creature beside Sudanruo who looked very similar to Qu Zheng, and asked:
"Is this our child?"
Sultan Ruo hurriedly hid the child behind him and whispered to Su Yan:
"Go play with your sister in the backyard. Mother has to go see a patient."
Su Yan always listened to Su Danruo's words, and ran away after hearing what Su Danruo said.
Qu Cheng'an turned his gaze from Su Yan to Su Danruo.
"I knew you wouldn't die so easily. I've been searching for you for five years, and I haven't slacked off for even a single day. I never thought you'd be in Ninglan City.
Do you know how much pain I've been going through in these five years without you?"
Sultan lowered his head and said with a self-deprecating smile:
"I don't know how much you're suffering. I see you're living well in this world now, unlike those close people around me.
I've been doing pretty well these past five years without you."
When Qu Cheng'an heard what Su Danruo said, his heart ached and he didn't know how to respond.
He went forward to help Su Danruo dry the herbs first. Su Danruo took a step back to increase the distance between himself and Qu Chengan.
Qu Cheng'an paused and said to Su Danruo:
"Can you bear to see Qu Nian and Qu Zheng without a mother, and the child you are carrying without a father?"
