When the two men returned to the barracks, their pants were completely wet.
When the wind blew, both of them couldn't help but shiver.
The fire where Gu Nanji and the other two had just been warming themselves was still there. Gu Nanji quickly pushed her in front of the fire and warmed herself by it.
Gu Nanji took out four pairs of pants, two for him and two for Murong Jinyi, and handed them to her. "Here, go change them quickly. Don't catch a cold. If you catch a cold in this weather, it can be fatal."
Murong Jinyi looked at his own pants, which were all wet, and urged him to change his pants. He was touched and said, "You change first."
"Hey, don't be so polite here. Go and change quickly. I'll turn my back. You have to change sooner so that I can change, right?" Gu Nanji urged her.
Murong Jinyi blushed and nodded.
Although Gu Nanji had lowered the curtain of the tent so that outsiders could not see it, and although he had his back to Murong Jinyi, the candlelight behind Murong Jinyi cast a shadow on Murong Jinyi, and the shadow of a pair of slender legs was cast on the tent. Gu Nanji hurried to block it when he saw it, but he was embarrassed to look at it. When he thought that others could see it, he became a little anxious. He stood up, and his tall shadow merged with Murong Jinyi's shadow.
Now no one would notice, and Gu Nanji nodded contentedly.
Murong Jinyi changed his pants and saw him stand up. He asked in confusion, "What are you doing?"
"It's nothing, I'm a little cold, so I stood up and moved around." Gu Nanji made an excuse for himself.
"I'm done changing. You can change it yourself. After you're done, I'll tell you about this thing of mine." Murong Jinyi walked over and sat down.
Gu Nanji also quickly changed his pants, but while changing, Murong Jinyi saw Gu Nanji's shadow on the tent. For a moment, she blushed and felt a little touched. She understood why he stood up.
"Okay, what do you want to tell me?" Gu Nanji sat down next to her inconspicuously.
"Oh, this is what I want to tell you. Look." Murong Jinyi opened the bundle. There were several prescriptions, a coat made of fur of an unknown animal, two vests, and two pairs of fur boots.
Gu Nanji first picked up the prescription and took a look at it. There was the language of the Sals people on it, and then Murong Jinyi carefully translated it into the language of Yinwei country.
"Some of these prescriptions teach how to deal with frostbite caused by snow, some teach how to keep warm in the snow, and some teach how to melt snow. I heard that you suffered a snowstorm, and maybe you really need it right now, so I asked our local experienced herdsmen what to do. They told me, and then I translated it. You can try it." Murong Jinyi explained.
"Where are you from?" Gu Nanji asked.
"I came from the royal court of the Sals people, what's wrong?" Murong Jinyi felt strange.
Gu Nanji reached out and shook her hand. "The royal court of the Sars people is more than a thousand miles away from here. You came all this way just to deliver these prescriptions. I thank you on behalf of the Yinwei people."
Murong Jinyi blushed. "It's not entirely for the recipe. It's mainly because my sister made some warm clothes, and I wanted to bring them over to General Xiao Wu..."
Gu Nanji looked at the bundle again, "I see there are two items, are they all his?"
"No, this one is yours, this one is yours, the one with good stitching is General Xiao Wu's, and this pair of boots is yours, the others are General Xiao Wu's." Murong Jinyi picked out the jacket, the one with rough stitching from the two vests, and the larger-sized boots and gave them to Gu Nanji.
"Thank your sister for me..." Gu Nanji said while holding those things.
"Why thank her? I did all this..." Murong Jinyi muttered.
"You did it?" Upon hearing this, Gu Nanji immediately took off his clothes, put them on quickly, and then put on his armor.
"It's very warm, thank you!" Gu Nanji said happily.
Murong Jinyi was very satisfied with his behavior and nodded. "That's fine. I'll leave."
Gu Nanji reached out and grabbed her wrist, bringing her back to his side. "It's too late now. You rest here for one night. I'll send you off tomorrow."
Murong Jinyi nodded after hearing this and said, "Well, thank you. I'll go to my tent to rest."
Gu Nanji immediately lied, "Your tents have been taken by new recruits, and there are no extra tents left. How about this, you and I make do for one night, and I'll sleep on the floor."
Murong Jinyi blushed. She remembered that when she came here, she saw that the tent where they had slept before had no lights and no soldiers guarding it, which meant that no one was living there. However, she seemed unwilling to expose Gu Nanji's lie. "Okay."
Gu Nanji was happy in his heart, but he didn't show it on his face.
Murong Jinyi consciously went to sleep inside. Seeing that Gu Nanji really wanted to sleep on the floor, she stopped him, "Gu Nanji, the floor is so cold. Come up and we can sleep together. We are all wearing clothes anyway, so what are we afraid of..."
Upon hearing this, Gu Nanji looked up and confirmed that Murong Jinyi really didn't mind. Then he blew out the candle and went to bed. However, after Gu Nanji got on the bed, he became stiff as a piece of wood.
Murong Jinyi sensed his discomfort, so she covered both of them with the quilt, making sure both of them were covered before she fell into a deep sleep.
Gu Nanji stayed awake the whole time, listening to her breathing. In the second half of the night, the wind started to blow and the snow fell even harder. Murong Jinyi might have felt cold and moved closer to Gu Nanji. Seeing that she was unconscious, Gu Nanji reached out and embraced her, tucking the quilt tightly. Feeling that it was not enough, he reached out and got a tiger-skin cloak and draped it over Murong Jinyi. After making sure that all this was done, Gu Nanji felt a little sleepy and fell asleep too.
