Chapter 150 Nian Nian's First Day of School
On the first day of school, Nian Nian didn't lie in bed.
This was really beyond Shi Guilin's expectations.
He had been prepared to go to great lengths to wake people up, but he didn't expect to end up worrying for nothing.
At 7:30 in the morning, Nian Nian, wearing a neatly ironed summer uniform, happily sat down at the dining table, picked up a custard bun at the right temperature and ate it bite by bite.
He looks full of energy, without a trace of sleepiness in his eyes.
Shi Guilin thought that Nian Nian's enthusiasm was probably due to her first time in elementary school. He guessed that she wouldn't be like this when the second semester started.
Shi Guilin had no appetite, so he just ate a couple of bites and leaned back in his chair, waiting for Nian Nian to finish her meal.
Nian Nian finished three custard buns, drank a glass of fresh milk, took a wet towel from the table to wipe her mouth, and slid down the chair: "Papa, Nian Nian is done eating."
"Let's go to school." Shi Guilin grabbed Nian Nian's schoolbag and held Nian Nian's hand with his free hand.
The two got into the car at the entrance of the villa. Today the driver was driving, while Shi Guilin and Nian Nian sat in the back seat.
"It's still the same old rules." Shi Guilin reiterated the three old rules over and over again. "First, if you have a disagreement or conflict with other children, you must go to the office to see the teacher immediately. Second, if you feel unwell, you must see the teacher immediately. If you can't make it in time, use your phone watch to call your father or grandparents. Third, you are not allowed to run around after school, talk to strangers, and don't eat anything given by strangers."
"Remember?"
"I remember." Nian Nian nodded seriously.
Shi Guilin didn't buy it: "I remember, then repeat it again, Dad will listen."
Nian Nian's face tightened, and she unconsciously sat up straight, trying hard to repeat the three principles for children to go to school produced by Shi Guilin.
After confirming that everything was correct, Shi Guilin smiled and kissed Nian Nian's forehead: "Great."
With his experience of sending Nian Nian to kindergarten, Shi Guilin wasn't particularly worried about her elementary school enrollment this time. So after the car stopped at Hai City Xiehe Bilingual School, Shi Guilin accompanied Nian Nian through the registration process and sent her to class. He left the school without taking care of anything else.
Nian Nian rubbed the tip of her schoolbag strap and looked around, but she didn't see Xi Zimu and Ji Shuhe.
He is number one!
He wasn't late this time. Nian Nian chose a seat and sat down complacently.
Haishi Concordia Bilingual School adopts a small class system, with 35 students in a class, and all the tables are single-person tables. There is no need to be picky when choosing seats.
Because there are so few people in the class, sitting anywhere feels like sitting in the middle.
Nian Nian didn't notice the looks from other children in the class. He slowly stuffed his schoolbag and placed his hands quietly on the table, not knowing what to do.
“Knock knock.”
It was the sound of knocking on the window glass.
He looked outside, and his eyes instantly lit up with joy: "Brother Duan!"
Jiang Duan gave him a subtle smile and a nod in response.
Nian Nian no longer cared about trivial matters. Like a happy puppy, she ran through the rows of desks, out of the classroom door, and threw herself into the arms of Jiang Duan who was standing in the corridor. "Brother Duan. Nian Nian and you are going to the same school again."
"Brother Duan, are you happy?"
Jiang Duan's voice was filled with a hint of joy: "Yeah, I'm happy."
Nian Nian's round eyes curved like crescent moons: "Why did Brother Duan come to see Nian Nian?"
"I guessed you should be here by this time, come down and take a look."
"This is your brother." A sudden voice interrupted their conversation. "Why don't you ever mention how cute he is when you mention him?"
Nian Nian withdrew from Jiang Duan's arms and cast a blank look at the owner of the voice.
The man was about the same height as Jiang Duan. As soon as he met Nian Nian's face, he smiled and said, "Hello, my name is Chu Qingyu."
He then introduced himself: "I am——"
He paused, quickly glanced at Jiang Duan, and muttered to himself, "I should be considered your friend, after all, we've known each other for so long. Calling us classmates is too distant..."
Nian Nian didn't know how to respond, so she could only look at Jiang Duan.
Jiang Duan was helpless: "Chu Qingyu, he can barely be considered my friend."
Nian Nian heard the man mutter again: "That's barely enough..."
Nian Nian: “…” Nian Nian rarely feels speechless.
This friend of Brother Duan, whose surname is Chu, has a personality very similar to Mumu, but not exactly the same, and Nian Nian finds it a little difficult to deal with him.
Chu Qingyu reached out and caressed Nian Nian's cheek, which was as soft and tender as a snow-white girl, with a playful smile on his face. "I'm the same age as Jiang Duan, so you can call me Brother Qingyu too."
Jiang Duan looked at him for a second, then calmly pulled Nian Nian towards him.
Nian Nian didn't notice his movements and grunted: "...Brother Qingyu——"
"Don't call him brother." Jiang Duan suddenly interrupted Nian Nian, then frowned slightly, seemingly not quite understanding what he was upset about. He only said: "Call him by his full name, like Ji Shuhe."
"Tsk, so stingy." Chu Qingyu had known Jiang Duan for two years and knew that his temper could be a little inexplicable at times. He simply shrugged and said, "Okay, then... Nian Nian, should you call me Nian Nian? Just call me by my full name. I don't mind."
Nian Nian glanced at Jiang Duan's expression and called out obediently, "Chu Qingyu."
Jiang Duan's eyebrows relaxed, as if he was satisfied. He touched Nian Nian's head and said, "Be good."
Seeing that he was fine, Nian Nian smiled without any burden.
The three of them were standing there awkwardly when two familiar footsteps came closer.
"Nian Nian! Jiang Duan!"
"Nian Nian!"
It was Xi Zimu and Ji Shuhe, who had just finished registering. Without even entering the classroom or putting down their backpacks, they came up and gave Nian Nian a bear hug: "You didn't sleep in."
Nian Nian was embarrassed and her face turned red: "Nian Nian is not a lazy pig."
"Haha," Chu Qingyu laughed unexpectedly, "You are so cute, calling yourself Nian Nian, just like the little protagonist in a cartoon."
Nian Nian's face turned even redder, not knowing if she was being laughed at. She whispered, "Nian Nian... I..."
"Don't listen to his nonsense." Jiang Duan diverted Nian Nian's attention and said to Xi Zimu and the others, "You guys go to class first. You can sit closer. My class is on the third floor, also in Class 1. Remember to ask me for help if you need anything."
The other children, led by Nian Nian, listened to Jiang Duan's words and went in one by one, choosing their seats. By the time the three of them had packed their belongings, Jiang Duan and Chu Qingyu were no longer visible outside the window.
Everything that happened next flowed naturally: class, self-introductions, textbook distribution, end of get out of class, lunch, nap, morning exercises, and then the end of school...
After experiencing various activities and courses, Nian Nian, who tried her best to socialize at school, finally felt the difference of elementary school students. Fortunately, Xi Zimu and Ji Shuhe were by her side, so Nian Nian did not find it difficult.
At this point, the first day of school has quietly turned over.
