Chapter 10 Wedding (2/2)

Now that the person is gone, her dowry is gone too. How can she accept this?

Prince An's Mansion

"Cuiguo, tidy up, let's get some rest." Li Zhiwei said to Cuiguo, who was standing beside her.

"Miss, but the Prince hasn't returned yet," Cuiguo said, looking puzzled.

"The prince won't come." Li Zhiwei thought to herself, perhaps the prince only married her to provide a legitimate way to distribute her dowry.

Ci'an Hall

"He'er, tell me, what exactly was the purpose of your actions today?" The old princess asked her son, looking puzzled.

Although she genuinely hoped her son would get married soon, she didn't want to wrong him.

“Mother, this is the Emperor’s will. There needs to be a reason to take away Li’s dowry.” Xu Heming no longer hid anything from his mother.

Upon hearing this, the old princess felt a pang of sadness, realizing that this was the emperor's intention, and she couldn't very well criticize him.

However, this matter will not only cause injustice to the son, but also to Li Shi.

"Now that you have married Li, have you thought about the future?" The old princess was silent for a while before slowly speaking.

“Mother, if Li wants to leave after this, I will give her a divorce agreement,” Xu Heming said softly.

The old princess looked at her son and sighed. "Now that we've brought her home, why should we let her leave?"

"Qingshi is getting older. You're busy with official duties all day, and I'm getting old. He needs a mother to guide him. Since Qingshi brought this person back himself, and Li Shi seems to be a sensible person, why not let Li Shi teach Qingshi properly for you in the future?" The old princess thought for a moment and suggested.

"Then let's do as Mother says." Xu Heming felt a headache coming on when he thought of his son who was always causing trouble.

"Then you should go and speak to Lady Li yourself," the old princess urged.

Actually, she still had her own selfish motives, thinking that perhaps Xu Heming would be willing to consummate his marriage with Li Zhiwei.

When Xu Heming arrived at his Songmo Courtyard, he remembered that Li Zhiwei was now staying there.

Just as he was about to go to the study, he remembered what his mother had said and decided to talk to Li Zhiwei about it.

When he got outside the room, he discovered that Li Zhiwei hadn't waited for him.

"Your Highness, perhaps the Princess is tired today," Qingsong, the servant beside Xu Heming, whispered.

Xu Heming thought that he would be punished by the Emperor to stay in the mansion for the next few days, so he sighed and decided to spend the night in the study.

"Your Highness," Cui Guo greeted Xu Heming with delight.

Cui Guo was overjoyed. If the prince didn't stay overnight in the bridal chamber today, the people in the palace wouldn't know how to look at their young lady tomorrow.

At this moment, Xu Heming felt awkward, unsure whether he should leave or stay.

"Your Highness, didn't you have something to say to the Princess?" Qingsong carefully advised.

After all, their prince had been celibate for so many years, and now that he had finally married a princess, he should enjoy his newfound happiness.

Xu Heming coughed lightly and strode into the bridal chamber.

At this moment, Li Zhiwei had already lain down, but she had heard Cuiguo call him "Your Highness" just now. However, at this moment, she was still thinking about the events of her previous life.

No one expected that the prince would be entering the bridal chamber today.

But when she sensed a dark shadow in front of her, she was startled.
