Chapter Forty-Three: Moving into the Naval Port

After a sleepless night's journey, the carriage arrived at the military dock just as dawn was breaking.

The entrance to the dock was guarded by Eight Banners guards, who had been selected to be sent to naval training.

"Fourth Brother, is this the navy?" Qingyan looked at the guards on the dock, whose clothes were not much different from the others.

"It should be!" Yin nodded directly. "Little darling, you're not allowed to say anything more after you come in."

Yin hoped that Qingyan could just relax and enjoy his vacation. Under Kangxi's arrangement, Fei Yanggu and his two sons were training in basic naval maneuvers.

In fact, the children of the Eight Banners underwent water-floating training from a young age. On ordinary days, they would occasionally go water-floating, but only according to their own preferences.

All the guards who were better swimmers were selected and formed into a new team. Since Saito and Eshuo had experience in training new troops, Kangxi decided to have Saito and Eshuo lead the training.

“Little darling, Saito and Eshuo are naval training instructors. After all, they have experience training the new army,” Yin said to Qingyan.

After entering Hong Kong, Qingyan will probably not be able to see Saito and Eshuo, and the twins will probably be very disappointed.

After arriving at the beach, Saito and Eshuo played with the twins, often running around from morning till night. The two had another task: the two children would definitely need to be looked after.

The carriage slowly entered the courtyard. The military port had been divided into many courtyards. Yin's courtyard was ready. Qingyan carried the child and got off the carriage. She found that the courtyard was a bit small. There were only five main rooms and ten side rooms in the courtyard. Their personal maids could live in the courtyard, while the other servants had to go to a place one kilometer away from the courtyard.

"Fourth Brother, is this the place?" Qingyan looked around the small courtyard. It was very simply furnished, without even flowers or plants. Yin's small courtyard had five or six coconut trees, with some coconuts already hanging on them.

“Well, this courtyard is already quite good. Once we leave, it will be used by the naval officers,” Yin Yuqingyan said. “These coconut trees were specially prepared by me. After we leave, I will move them to the courtyard of the Yuelai Inn. Consider it an experiment.”

Su Lan and Su Zhu took the child away, and Yin took Qing Yan and they strolled around the yard together. Those coconut trees were young coconut trees.

"Little darling, we'll be staying here for a month, so we need to prepare properly," Yin told Qingyan. "We can go out for a stroll tomorrow and buy some necessities. In three days, the Navy will start its selection process, and then none of us will be able to go out!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Qingyan had already made up her mind; there were too many things to prepare.

"Come on, let's stop wandering around here and go to the study to quickly process the list. We need the vegetables and such delivered by Yue Lai Inn every day." Qingyan pondered for a moment, "Besides, I checked what the kitchen has!"

Qingyan specifically asked Sulan to learn about the kitchen's supplies. She sat in the study with Xuan paper in front of her. When she entered the room, she found that the place was extremely simple, and some daily necessities were not complete. They really needed to buy a lot.

“Linglong Pavilion has prepared a lot of daily necessities. After we leave, if either Saituo or Eshuo lives here, we can give these things to him.” Qingyan realized that Saituo and Eshuo would definitely leave one behind.

"How could you have such a feeling?" Yin asked in return.

Kangxi was still hesitant. Fei Yanggu did not want either of his sons to have any involvement in the navy. Both of his legitimate sons held military power. If one of them took charge of the new army and the other also controlled the navy, the good days of the Qing Dynasty might be coming to an end.

"It's just a gut feeling, but I'd better try to prepare as much as possible." Qingyan chuckled. "Fourth Brother, is my feeling really true?"

Qingyan's intuition was accurate; just two days ago, Kangxi decided to put Eshuo in charge of the navy.

"Little darling, your intuition is spot on, it's E'shuo!" Yin whispered.

"Master, I've already gone to the kitchen. The meals here are very simple. Apart from some basic seafood, the rest are mostly delivered by Yuelai Inn!" Su Lan reported to Qing Yan from the doorway.

Delivered from Yuelai Inn?!

Qingyan stared at Yin in surprise. Could it be that the navy's supplies were not being broadcast?

"The navy is entirely funded by Father Emperor using his private treasury. The Ministry of Revenue will definitely not keep an eye on it. The fewer people who know, the better!" Yin believed that Kangxi would entrust the navy to Eshuo, probably meaning that this army would be handed over to Eshuo.

A new army and navy?!

Why did Emperor Kangxi trust these two people so much?

"Should Father's official position be changed?" Qingyan felt that something was wrong. After all, at this critical juncture, Kangxi would still delegate military power.

Inside the study, Qingyan kept pondering Kangxi's meaning.

In the Imperial Study, Kangxi summoned Fei Yanggu and his two sons. After all, the three of them were Kangxi's confidants, and it was exactly what Kangxi wanted to control these powers.

"Your Majesty, why do you want me to manage it?" Fei Yanggu asked, somewhat uncertainly.

Kangxi merely smiled. Fei Yanggu had been cautious his whole life, but he had to start thinking about paving the way for Yin, whose recent behavior had been somewhat out of line.

"What are you worried about? I've also given Wei Dongting a lot of power!" Kangxi's heavy reliance on them is a signal, isn't it?

Of those veteran officials, how many were truly trusted by Emperor Kangxi? The vast majority were retired and living at home.

"Your Majesty, this servant understands, but things are a bit too serious. Qingyan is, after all, the primary consort of a prince. This servant is different from Wei Dongting!" Fei Yanggu was a wise man. Since Qingyan married into the royal family, Fei Yanggu had been preparing behind the scenes to step down from the front line at any time.

Emperor Kangxi smiled calmly, expressing his satisfaction with Fei Yanggu's actions. After all, if the princes' wives and their families were as sensible as Fei Yanggu, he probably wouldn't have to worry so much.

The Guarjia clan was the first to be affected. Shi Wenbing didn't understand the rules, so he had to curb the Guarjia clan's development. The Crown Prince also disliked his primary consort, and even Li Jia could act arrogantly towards the Crown Princess.

Emperor Kangxi observed this but did not say a word, which was to give the Guarjia clan a warning.

"I only said that E'shuo would be in charge of naval training. Why are you so anxious? Besides, E'shuo is also in charge of the training of the new army in this area. He has experience." Kangxi glared at Fei Yanggu. This old man always caused him trouble.

In private, E'shuo was used to seeing Kangxi and Fei Yanggu bickering, so he didn't pay much attention to it.

"Eshuo, what's your opinion?" Kangxi realized he couldn't persuade Feiyanggu, so he turned his attention directly to Eshuo.

Ugh!

E Shuo was speechless. This was clearly a recipe for disaster!
