Inside the imperial kitchen, Eunuch Liu personally oversaw the detention of several deputy chief stewards and the chef in charge of Yin Qingyan's tent. Physician Liu discovered that the second batch of Chinese medicine contained incompatible herbs. Fortunately, Qingyan had behaved well; otherwise, her physical abilities would have been severely damaged.
These kinds of strongly incompatible medicinal herbs can cause severe reactions even after just one consumption. Her health will gradually deteriorate, and eventually, medicine will be ineffective.
"Imperial Physician Liu, please take another careful look. Besides these, are there any ingredients that would conflict with the princess's Chinese medicine?" Eunuch Liu was very afraid, fearing that someone might use the Imperial Kitchen to harm Qingyan at this crucial moment.
Emperor Kangxi and Consort Tong's high regard for Qingyan made everyone else afraid to utter a single unnecessary word. They could only protect those whom their superiors valued. Besides Consort Tong, two other concubines also came along, but they weren't as fortunate as Qingyan.
The use of incompatible foods caused a minor problem at the shrine, but Emperor Kangxi only offered words of encouragement to help. Physician Liu then realized that the entire focus of the Imperial Medical Academy was now on Qingyan.
"Not for now. His Majesty has decreed that all matters concerning Princess Ulanara will be handled by the Fourth Prince." Physician Liu's words sent a chill down everyone's spines.
This man's protection of the princess was so meticulous that anyone who dared to stab her in the back would face even harsher punishment.
"What?!" Both deputy stewards exclaimed in surprise. The heir of Blind Valley had given them many benefits, but no one had mentioned it to them. His Majesty had entrusted this matter to the Fourth Prince.
At this moment, Su Peisheng whispered a few words in Yin's ear, and he looked at Qingyan, who used to play chess with him.
"Fourth Prince, you have things to take care of." Qingyan has her own standards; she will never ask questions she shouldn't ask, and she will never cause trouble for Yin.
Yin got up and left the tent. Qingyan was curious; what had made a sharp glint appear in Yin's eyes? Su Peisheng looked at her hesitant expression and felt that it had piqued her curiosity.
"Sulan, do you think we should sneak over and take a look?" Qingyan is someone who can't stay still; she can't hide in her spatial dimension to watch a show in front of outsiders.
Her longing gaze only strengthened Su Lan's resolve to refuse. Before Su Peisheng even entered the tent, he explained the matter to her: those in the imperial kitchen who dared to do such a thing should be prepared to be punished by the Fourth Prince.
Curiosity killed the cat!
These words perfectly describe Qingyan. For the entire afternoon, she seemed to be sitting on a pincushion, constantly shifting between motions. Her eyes were filled with confusion, and she felt she absolutely had to clarify her doubts.
Just before dinner, Yin Feng returned, looking dusty and even more aloof. She saw him approaching quickly, jumped off the armchair, and ran towards him.
"My little darling!" Yin opened his arms and picked her up.
At this moment, he needed to confirm that Qingyan was really alright; those people were incredibly audacious.
"Fourth Prince, you're angry!" Qingyan tugged at Yin's braid, her face full of confusion.
Yin was used to Qingyan's behavior. When she expressed her dissatisfaction, she would grab his braid and make him explain himself.
He nodded, secretly wondering whether he should tell Qingyan the truth. The Mongol princes didn't like Qingyan as much as he had guessed; they were worried about the strength of Feiyanggu, Saito, and Eshuo.
The existence of three formidable generals from one family was a blessing for the Eight Banners, but a threat to the Mongol nobility. In their previous lives, the rise of Feiyanggu and the early deaths of Saito and Eshuo may have been influenced by the Mongols.
He couldn't participate in the battle back then, and his information came from his own suspicions and guesses.
"Su Peisheng, Su Lan, you two wait at the door." Yin looked at her bewildered expression and simply sighed.
She's a bit of a scatterbrain, very sensitive to strangers, but becomes absent-minded and lets her guard down around familiar people.
"Fourth..." Qingyan's little hand tugged at his collar, her little paws patting Yin's back again and again.
Unable to suppress the imperial aura within him, all the servants in the tent, except for Qingyan, felt an immense pressure.
As soon as Kangxi approached the tent, he sensed that Yinzhi was angry.
"Damn it! Li Dequan, keep an eye on the surroundings. Bring down a stranger first." After discovering the imperial aura on Yin, Kangxi had been carefully protecting him. If outsiders knew about this child's innate imperial aura, he would suffer even greater harm.
"..." Li Dequan had to admit that this Fourth Master was definitely an outstanding person, and he should take better care of him in the future.
"Yin!" Kangxi's voice rang out from outside the tent. Yin was still immersed in the painful meeting he had attended. Qingyan was held tightly by Yin, but she dared not make any big movements. She had already noticed that Yin's emotions were not right.
As soon as Kangxi entered, he saw Yin holding Qingyan tightly, staring at him with bloodshot eyes.
"Yin! Fourth Prince, put Qingyan down first. Look, you've frightened her." Kangxi softened his tone and advised Yin.
He heard about the incident at the Imperial Kitchen, and for the first time, Yin faced the life and death of those around him.
"Fourth..." Qingyan's face flushed slightly. Kangxi forcibly picked Qingyan up from Yin's arms. Yin tried to take her away, but when he came to his senses, he found Kangxi standing in front of him.
"Your subject greets Your Majesty." Yin regretted not being able to control his emotions. Now, he was no longer the high and mighty Emperor Yongzheng, but just an ordinary prince.
Kangxi did not say much to Yinzhen, but sat on the throne with Qingyan in his arms. Li Dequan walked in, whispered a few words to Kangxi, and stood to Kangxi's right rear.
"Father, I know I was wrong!" Yin quickly admitted his mistake when he realized that Kangxi was not speaking.
Kangxi placed Qingyan on his lap and looked down at Yin. He had to make sure that Yin learned his lesson from every mistake he made, as he couldn't predict how much time he could give Yin to grow up.
"Your subject should not let the servants see through my emotions." Yin looked up at Kangxi. He had been under too much pressure lately.
He took responsibility for Qingyan's safety, and every time she was harmed, Yin would get angry. He believed he had protected Qingyan very well, and the people in the imperial kitchen were all arranged to be loyal to the Emperor.
"Anything else?"
"One should not easily trust loyal people!" From a young age, Kangxi taught Yin that one must be wary of eunuchs, for the Ming Dynasty was destroyed by them.
Yin listened attentively but didn't take many precautions. Inside the palace, everyone was very honest; not a single person was plotting anything behind his back. Now, those who were greedy for money had revealed themselves, and Yin was caught completely off guard.
"We shouldn't let our guard down and let the other side find a weakness!" Yin argued softly.
