Chapter Sixty-Six: Turning Point

Inside the camp, Kangxi and the others were still waiting for news from Yinzhen. They dared not show themselves easily, fearing that it would bring unrest to this small village.

"Little darling, go to your mother's place." After hearing this, Qingyan led Sulan to the house next door.

That was Consort Tong's residence. Upon entering, she obediently greeted the Consort.

"Come here, little darling, you bought a lot of delicious food again?" Consort Tong was becoming more and more comfortable with Qingyan. She didn't feel superior at all. Instead, she was like an elder interacting with her.

Qingyan nodded obediently. She sat to the side, listening to the intermittent sounds, and became even more uneasy.

Consort Tong held the small body in her arms, her heart warmed. If the little one could pull through, Xuan Ye probably wouldn't make things difficult for him anymore.

Inside the main hall, Emperor Kangxi, Fuquan, and others had very serious expressions and tense faces.

"Yin, are you sure it's a crescent-shaped blade?" Kangxi specially took out a replica of the crescent-shaped blade, even though he didn't have the real one and had the Dragon Guards make a replica.

This sword will remain forever in the emperor's private treasury. At this moment, Yin was in turmoil, wondering if the crescent-shaped sword in his private treasury in his previous life was the real thing.

"Father, we've run into Qingyan!" Yin wasn't sure; if they missed him, Qingyan would be in serious trouble.

Fei Yanggu was annoyed. The Fourth Prince didn't hide it anymore and instead told him.

He glared angrily at the fourth prince, but Yin didn't care. As long as Qingyan wasn't misunderstood, he was happy.

Qingyan was led to the main hall, still looking confused.

"Little darling, feel if this is the knife?" Kangxi went straight to the point.

She looked up and saw a curved sword on the imperial table. Without lifting the bright yellow cover, she simply reached out and touched it. It was remarkably similar in shape to the one she had touched on the street.

"I'm thinking about it. I didn't see it. I only touched it when I bumped into someone." Qingyan didn't say anything definitive, and Yin was secretly pleased. Qingyan wasn't a simple little girl; she always knew what she should and shouldn't do.

Emperor Kangxi was very satisfied with her answer and immediately issued an order to begin investigating each case one by one.

Everyone present understood Galdan's habit: only the true successor to the Khanate would possess it.

After the meeting, Yin led her to walk side by side back into the room, where Qingyan finally became angry.

"Can't you say it or not?" Yin went back on his word, causing her to be glared at by her father.

"I'm telling you not to tell anyone else. You must tell the Emperor the truth, without any concealment." Yin was thinking of Qingyan's future and needed to win more favor from Kangxi for Qingyan.

Yin looked at Qingyan seriously. Since leaving the capital, Qingyan had endured a lot of criticism that was not commensurate with her age.

She looked up and saw a plea in his eyes. Perhaps she couldn't understand the respect that Yinzhen and the others held for Kangxi.

"Little darling," Yin picked up Qingyan, "we're going back to the capital. Be good and stay in the mansion without coming out."

Yin explained to her in a low voice that he couldn't complain about Kangxi in front of outsiders. After all, he was his own father.

"Alright." She didn't take Yin's words to heart and continued according to her own plan.

In the afternoon, a bustling sound came from outside the courtyard. She turned her head from the storybook and looked out the window. The guards were all very nervous and their bodies were stiff.

She was quite curious about what was happening outside and was about to jump off the soft couch.

"Don't move! Stay here obediently." Yin scolded, but his right hand, which was copying the book, did not stop for a moment.

She stuck out her tongue. He always knew what she was going to do before she even made a move.

After being stopped, Qingyan had no choice but to use the spatial system. Before she could explore her consciousness outside, she was blocked by something blurry.

Immediately, she dared not make any further movements and simply stared blankly at the storybook.

"Fourth Brother, let's go take a look." Qingyan had waited for half an hour, but still coquettishly suggested to Yin that they go see the excitement.

Yin looked up at her and shook his head.

"Sisi!" Qingyan jumped down, grabbing his sleeve and shaking it repeatedly. "Let's go."

Yin poked her forehead, but still refused. His father had personally mentioned that Qingyan couldn't be brought along, which was definitely for her own good.

"I'll read the storybook with you." Yin pulled her into his arms, and the two quietly read the storybook. "Qingyan, don't get involved in those things. Curiosity killed the cat!"

Qingyan was taken aback. It must be the burly man from that afternoon. Although she didn't know what he did for a living.

"I understand." Qingyan lowered her head. "I want to eat!"

There was a lot of food on the kang table, all of which Qingyan had just bought from the street.

Earlier, when she was getting chestnuts, she found a note written in Mongolian in the bag. At this moment, she was still hesitating whether to show it to Yin.

"Sisi, take a look at this!" After struggling with her thoughts for a while, Qingyan still took out the note to prevent herself from delaying things.

Qingyan took the note and glanced at it; her whole body stiffened.

"Where did you get this from?" Yin looked at Qingyan. This was definitely not a trivial matter and had to be handled with caution.

"The person who should have bumped into me on the street was placed on me." She kept eating chestnuts, and the paper bag was always on her stand.

Without saying a word, Yin picked up Qingyan and ran towards the courtyard gate. Kangxi and the others were still waiting for the interrogation results. Their appearance annoyed Kangxi.

He respectfully handed the note to Kangxi, who immediately whispered something to Li Dequan and then left.

Fei Yanggu glared at Yin, then tried to coax Xiao Qingyan into giving him more information.

"Um... Father, I don't understand Mongolian!" Qingyan lowered her head. It wasn't that she hadn't tried to learn; Mongolian and Manchu were very similar, but their meanings were quite different.

Her words left everyone speechless, and all eyes turned to Yin.

"Yin..." Fuquan focused his attention on Yin, hoping he could provide an answer to everyone.

"The direct descendant of Angguma Mama." That was all Yin could reveal; the grudges and feuds on the Khorchin grasslands had nothing to do with him.

This time, he really didn't expect that Galdan's favorite son was born to a concubine from the Khorchin.

"What?" Fuquan looked at him in surprise. Suddenly, he remembered that when his father was still alive, he planned to depose the Empress Dowager and install Consort Dong'e in his place. The Empress Dowager found a noblewoman from her family to send to the capital. Later, his father compromised, but the princess's reputation was ruined. To this day, they have no news of her.

The Empress Dowager felt guilty all along, and for many years she used this as an excuse to hope that Kangxi would allow more noble ladies to marry into the Qing Dynasty.

"Is it that person?" Chang Ning asked Fu Quan in a low voice. Apart from those who came from the palace, no one knew what happened back then.
