Chapter Thirteen: The Appearance of the Jue Luo Clan

After Li Dequan personally delivered his allowance, the fourth prince became even more determined to study hard. In just a few days, his chubby, icy face turned into a thin, horse-like face. Suddenly, Qingyan seemed to see the portrait of Yin in the Forbidden City.

He is cold and aloof to outsiders, completely lacking in care. He is physically weak and basically lives a sedentary lifestyle.

"Qingyan, I still have homework to finish!" Yin pursed his thin lips as he watched the little boy hand him the small cloth bag for weeding. Every day, the two of them would often go to the fields to exercise in the evening.

After she finished speaking, Qingyan's little face puffed up with anger, and she had a mournful little expression, which made Yin laugh heartily.

"Can't I do the work?" Yin didn't like Qingyan's disappointed look, so he quickly picked up the small cloth bag, went into the field, and began to help Qingyan tidy up the land.

Behind him, Qingyan smiled. Yin was a person who desperately needed affection. If she didn't bother him for a day, a look of disappointment would creep onto his face. Before, Fei Yanggu always told Qingyan in advance to be careful not to touch Yin's scars when she spoke.

After Uya harmed Empress Yin, he became extremely sensitive.

"Little girl, I'm working. Are you just staring at me like that?" Yin enjoyed Qingyan's antics. Sometimes, Qingyan would pester him to put down his book and ask him to go for a walk.

"Master, the Jue Luo clan has arrived!" Su Peisheng walked in and whispered in Yin's ear.

Now that Fei Yanggu is no longer in the mansion, his two young children are in charge. Jue Luo Shi's identity is likely to make things difficult for Qing Yan.

"Arrange for the guards to secretly bring Fourth Uncle back!" Yin was worried about Qingyan. What Jueluo Shi did was considered normal within the palace. Outside the palace, the legitimate daughters of prominent families were extremely precious and could not be harmed in their youth.

Su Peisheng nodded and quickly arranged for someone to go through the back door. He finished handling everything and had just returned to the warm shed when he noticed Lady Jue Luo dressed in a royal blue cheongsam, with an elegant pearl headdress. If Su Peisheng wasn't mistaken, the pearl headdress on Lady Jue Luo's head was likely a full-moon gift from the Imperial Concubine to Qingyan.

How did these expenses, which should have been kept by Qingyan herself, end up on the head of the Jueluo clan?

Worried that Yin might lash out, he quickly slipped into a warm room and whispered to Yin that the Jue Luo clan might be hiding the reward.

Immediately, Yin's face darkened. Qingyan tilted her head, not understanding why the atmosphere around the man in front of her had suddenly become so tense.

The crisp sound of a woman's flowerpot bottom tapping against the blue brick floor came from outside, and Qingyan's rosy cheeks immediately turned deathly pale. She tried hard to make out how many inches of flowerpot bottom it was.

"Qingyan, your mother has arrived, yet you don't come out to greet her. Is this the rule your governess taught you?" Jue Luo's cold and piercing voice made Qingyan's small body tremble. She disliked Jue Luo's words; the trauma of her childhood was deeply imprinted in Qingyan's mind.

Yin walked to Qingyan's side, held Qingyan's small hand tightly, and walked outside step by step.

She was surprised when Yin Bingshan appeared before Jue Luo Shi, her door curtains fluttering in disdain.

Will the prince accompany Qingyan to work in the greenhouse?

"Greetings to the Fourth Prince!" Lady Jue Luo looked at Qing Yan, who was being blocked by Yin, and although she didn't want to, she still had to perform the ceremony.

No matter how young a prince is, he is still a member of the royal family.

Yin did not wake her. He stared coldly at the headdress of the Jue Luo clan. Those were originally given to Qingyan by Consort Tongjia. No subject was qualified to wear them.

Jue Luo felt a piercing chill run down her spine, and she secretly regretted showing off. When she entered the palace for an audience, Jue Luo was very reserved and made sure not to neglect any of the proper etiquette.

Now, this headdress on her head will become a handle for Yin to use against her. Qingyan seemed not to see it at all and did not say a word. Yin was much taller than Qingyan, and with him blocking her way, any of Jueluo's ideas would be in vain.

"Fourth." Qingyan tugged at Yin's sleeve with difficulty. She couldn't let anyone criticize her. There were many royal servants around, and Fei Yanggu couldn't control any of them.

Hearing Qingyan's soft voice, Jueluo felt a surge of anger. Qingyan had grown too big for his britches and dared not plead for his mother.

"Qingyan, why aren't you bowing to the Fourth Prince!" Jue Luo's sharp voice pierced Qingyan's eardrums. Yin frowned. It seemed that he needed to have a proper discussion with Fei Yanggu. This behavior was not acceptable.

"Kneel properly!" Fei Yanggu dismounted. After Jue Luo left the Nara residence, the old house's steward immediately sent someone to the Nine Gates Admiral's office to find him, hoping to get him home as soon as possible.

Jue Luo shuddered. If Qing Yan pleaded for her, Fei Yanggu wouldn't have found out.

Only then did she realize that Qingyan had taken a long time to come out; was she waiting for Fei Yanggu to return? Sure enough, Qingyan was a very scheming girl.

"Am I wrong? She doesn't even greet me, her mother, and at such a young age, she's already scheming against her elders!" Jue Luo stood up abruptly. Qing Yan shrank back, acting coquettishly and pitifully. She would never directly confront Jue Luo. She was a junior, and no matter what she did, outsiders would criticize Qing Yan.

Fei Yanggu, being a shrewd man, had long understood Qingyan's thoughts. He couldn't help but think that his precious daughter had really grown up.

"Greetings to Mother!" Yin grasped Qingyan's right hand, and she could only offer a deep double greeting, without making any further hand gestures.

The servants in the courtyard watched her small figure, so young yet so proper in her greetings. Her body was round and plump, and her movements were somewhat unsteady. Most of those present were understanding.

Jue Luo was an exception; she believed that Qing Yan's failure to greet her according to custom meant that she looked down on her.

"Hmph, you don't even know how to greet people properly. Did the nannies teach you?" Jue Luo snorted contemptuously. Many people knew that it wasn't good that the only legitimate daughter of the mansion didn't like the Ulanara Princess Consort, which made the Ulanara Lady find an excuse to leave the old mansion directly.

Generally, Manchu noble ladies would only have governesses after the age of 6. Qingyan was only 3 years old when she was given such a high-ranking position. Noble ladies from other mansions were probably not as well off as Qingyan.

"Shut up! How dare you speak ill of the Imperial Concubine's governess!" Fei Yanggu turned to listen to Su Peisheng's report, and he immediately noticed the frozen head and face of Jue Luo Shi.

He was truly exasperated. This set of jewelry was clearly a warning to her, meant to be prepared for Qingyan's dowry. Yet, she flaunted it in public.
