Especially jealous
The pain after the analgesic pump was removed was violent and thorough, like a tide that instantly overwhelmed all the senses.
Zhou Jianxing lay on the hospital bed, his body twitching slightly uncontrollably. Every wound was screaming sharply, and every breath caused severe pain in his chest and abdomen.
Big beads of cold sweat oozed out of her forehead, slid down her temples and soaked the pillowcase.
Consciousness floats and sinks in the huge wave of pain that sweeps over it.
At a certain moment, she even vaguely wondered if she had not been rescued at that time, she would not have endured this bone-crushing torture.
Wen Lingyi wrung out a warm towel and wanted to wipe the cold sweat from her forehead.
As soon as his fingertips touched her skin, Zhou Jianxing turned his head away as if he was scalded. At the same time, he used all the remaining strength in his body to wave away Wen Lingyi's hand.
The movement affected the wound, and she gasped in pain, her vision going black.
Wen Lingyi's hand paused in mid-air. After a moment, she silently picked up another clean small towel, rolled it up, and carefully handed it to Zhou Jianxing's mouth, motioning her to bite it.
Zhou Jianxing obediently opened his mouth and took it in, his teeth clenched tightly because of the extreme pain.
In a short while, the towel was soaked with her saliva, mixed with the uncontrollable painful sobs that escaped from the depths of her throat.
She turned her head away irritably and spat the wet towel aside.
Immediately afterwards, a snow-white arm was presented to her lips.
The skin is so delicate that you can clearly see the light blue blood vessels underneath.
Zhou Jianxing stared at the white spot with her bloodshot eyes. The severe pain blurred her vision, and the white spot was almost dazzling.
It was so white that she felt like she was in the snow. The rolling snow-capped mountains and the snowy sky occupied her entire vision, and she was almost suffering from snow blindness.
"Bite it if it hurts." Wen Lingyi's voice was gentle, even a little bewitching, "Let me share some of the pain with you."
I don’t know which nerve of Zhou Jianxing’s that was on the verge of collapse was touched by these words.
Almost in revenge, she opened her mouth and took the arm in.
At first I just wanted to bite it gently to vent the resentment and pain that had nowhere to go.
But the intense, uncontrollable pain suddenly gripped her whole body, her teeth clenched uncontrollably, and her sharp fangs sank into the soft flesh.
A faint taste of rust instantly filled my mouth.
The smell made Zhou Jianxing's chaotic consciousness clear up for a moment.
She suddenly opened her mouth and saw two rows of deep teeth marks that had begun to bleed on Wen Lingyi's snow-white arm.
She wanted to apologize, wanted to say sorry, but the severe pain strangled her throat and she could only utter broken breaths.
"I want..." Her words were intermittent, as if she had used up all her strength to squeeze out a few words, and each syllable was trembling with pain, "I want to take... painkillers..."
"We can't fight anymore." Wen Lingyi's naturally upturned eyes were pressed down.
She couldn't imagine, let alone empathize with the pain Zhou Jianxing was going through at the moment, but her heart tightened because of Zhou Jianxing's fragile posture.
Since we can't bear it together, let her feel it together.
Finally, she once again put the arm with the teeth marks to Zhou Jianxing's mouth, and said in a low and clear voice: "If it hurts, bite me. I don't feel any pain."
When the nurse pushed the treatment cart in to change the infusion bottle, she immediately saw the clearly visible red teeth marks on Wen Lingyi's forearm, which were even slightly bleeding.
After looking at Wen Lingyi with interest, she looked away.
"Be careful," the nurse warned calmly as she worked smoothly. "An anaerobic infection in the mouth is no fun. In severe cases, there's even the risk of amputation."
As she spoke, she picked up a cotton ball soaked in disinfectant alcohol with tweezers and pressed it unceremoniously on the tooth marks to disinfect them.
The sharp pain from the alcohol-stimulated wound caused Wen Lingyi's chest to rise and fall noticeably, and his eyes turned red in an instant.
Physiological tears quickly accumulated, trembling on her eyelashes, but she forced herself not to let them fall.
The nurse changed Zhou Jianxing's IV drip and looked at her face, which was still twisted with pain. She couldn't help but soften her tone and reached out to gently ruffle her hair.
"The new bottle has painkillers in it. It'll take effect soon and you'll feel much better."
After a while, as the cold medicine slowly flowed into the blood vessels, the heart-wrenching pain finally eased away bit by bit like the tide receding.
Zhou Jianxing's tightly clenched teeth finally loosened a little bit.

When Su Qing walked into the ward carrying several paper bags printed with luxury brand logos, she brought a slight breeze.
She came specially to bring Wen Lingyi some spare clothes and an office computer that she urgently needed.
When I stepped into the ward, the first thing I saw was Wen Lingyi bending slightly over, concentrating on handling the urine bag drainage tube hanging next to the bed.
Su Qing's delicate eyebrows first subconsciously gathered together, revealing obvious surprise and disgust, and then quickly relaxed.
Even the tips of his eyebrows were slightly raised, revealing a complex and indescribable expression.
"Miss," Zhou Shufen came in carrying a kettle. She saw Wen Lingyi had finished packing and was about to go to the bathroom. She quickly put down the kettle and said, "Oh, why did you ask me to do this again? Put it down quickly, let me do it..."
"It's okay, Auntie, I just did it." Wen Lingyi said in a normal tone. She walked into the bathroom and skillfully washed and disinfected her hands. When she came out, her hands were still wet.
Seeing Su Qing, she said to Zhou Shufen: "Auntie, my friend is here and we have something to talk about. I'll go out for a while and be back soon."
She took two disinfectant wipes from the side and wiped her hands carefully.
When walking out of the ward, Su Qing caught a glimpse of Zhou Jianxing lying on the hospital bed from the corner of her eye. His eyes seemed pitifully fixed on Wen Lingyi's back until the door closed.
Su Qing couldn't help but shudder slightly, feeling that this scene was both a bit corny and a bit indescribable weird.
·
"Don't say that," Su Qing casually leaned back and sank comfortably into the soft hotel bed, "This Zhou Jianxing is much better than that Zhu Yang."
She was referring to the incident where Zhou Jianxing almost lost his life for his bravery.
Wen Lingyi was lowering her head to organize the clothes that Su Qing brought. Her eyelashes moved when she heard this.
She picked out a soft cashmere base sweater and began to change out of the old clothes she had been wearing for four days.
She stayed in the hospital for several days and was so busy that she had no time or energy to go out and buy new clothes. She felt that she was going crazy because of this sloppiness.
"I will never allow her to do this again in my life." As she spoke, she brushed the long hair at the back of her neck out of the loose bottoming shirt. "It nearly gave me a heart attack."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk," Su Qing turned sideways, propping her head on her hand, her eyes fixed on the prominent medical dressings on Wen Lingyi's arm and the remaining red marks around them. "If I remember correctly, isn't your eldest daughter, Miss Wen, extremely afraid of pain and possesses a mysophobia that's perverted?"
"What? We haven't seen each other for just a few days, and Zhou Jianxing has cured you?" He said in a teasing tone.
Wen Lingyi didn't say anything, but continued to bend over to adjust her clothes. A large piece of snow-white clothing was exposed from her waist, and her pine-brown linen trousers were stuck by the protruding bones on both sides of her hips, stopping the trend of further sliding down.
Su Qing stood up and put her hands around Wen Lingyi's waist from behind, exclaiming exaggeratedly: "Oh my God, it's only been a few days, how come you've lost so much weight? Your waist is so thin that I can pinch it in half. It's really heartbreaking."
"As for my dad..." Wen Lingyi paused in her packing, her tone hesitant.
"Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret for you." Su Qing immediately understood her concerns, let go of her hand, and fell back onto the bed.
Sigh. Her sister-in-law cheated on her and she had to help cover it up. What kind of thing is this?!
Forget it. I have no one but myself to pamper my best friend, what else can I do?
"Didn't you tell me before that there was no chance for her?" Su Qing crossed her legs and wiggled her toes. "She's been hiding from you all the way to City B, and you're still eagerly rushing up to serve her."
She drawled out her tone: "Miss Wen, where is your dignity going to be?"
"You don't understand," Wen Lingyi adjusted the collar and cuffs of her windbreaker, turned around and looked back, her eyebrows curved into a hill. "She still likes me." As she said this, the water at the foot of the mountain rippled.
"Narcissist." Su Qing complained bluntly, looking at Wen Lingyi's eyes full of affection and smile.
She had to admit that Wen Lingyi did have the capital for narcissism.
·
Wen Lingyi returned to the ward and saw a woman in a neatly tailored white suit sitting beside Zhou Jianxing's bed, whispering something.
The woman heard the door open and looked up.
Wen Lingyi's return seemed to have quietly lowered the air temperature in the ward by a few degrees.
"Old Zhou," Zhou Shufen said tactfully, pulling her husband, who was sitting beside her looking at his phone, "accompany me to the supermarket downstairs to buy some fruit."
As she spoke, she winked at her husband.
Zhou Jianjun was puzzled, but he still obediently followed his wife out of the ward.
There were only three people left in the ward.
The woman frowned when she saw Wen Lingyi, but quickly regained her composure.
"See you, Xing," she turned back, pushed the rimless glasses on her nose, and said in a gentle tone, "Have a good rest, I'll come to see you tomorrow."
When she said this, her face was very close to Zhou Jianxing, and at the end she did not forget to touch Zhou Jianxing's right cheek affectionately.
"Thank you, Sister Hao," Zhou Jianxing quickly turned his head away, his voice dry from weakness and a little sticky from the saliva he had just secreted. "You're so busy with work, you really don't have to come to see me every day."
The woman curled her lips and said nothing more. She just carefully tucked the gap at the edge of Zhou Jianxing's quilt, then stood up.
When she passed by Wen Lingyi, she walked out with no expression on her face and without looking around.
"Sister Hao?" Wen Lingyi moved another chair and sat down next to Zhou Jianxing's bed.
She took out a disinfectant wipe, covered it in her palm, and then began to wipe Zhou Jianxing's face. Her movements still looked gentle, and there was no emotion in her tone.
"You're calling me that affectionately?"
When his fingertips rubbed the cheek that had just been touched by "Sister Hao", the force was obviously increased a bit, and he wiped back and forth several times.
Until a slight red mark quickly appeared on Zhou Jianxing's skin.
"When you were still in a coma, I came to report on time every day." Wen Lingyi suddenly smiled, and her eyes curved into a beautiful arc.
But the smile did not really reach his eyes, instead it was like a thin layer of transparent ice.
"When did you meet such a... considerate 'good sister'? Hmm?"
·
That was Zhou Jianxing’s first month in City B.
Just as she recovered from the torment of acclimatization, she lay alone in bed at night, looking out the window at the unfamiliar night sky illuminated by the neon lights of the city. A strong sense of loneliness and homesickness washed over her chest like a tide.
I miss my familiar friends in City C and my nagging but warm parents at home.
I am still thinking about someone, someone I dare not think about and shouldn’t think about, but I just can’t control my thoughts.
Thinking.
When thunder strikes, will she think of the person who once huddled in her arms and shivered?
…
Unable to fall asleep after tossing and turning, she simply got up, wrapped herself in a thick down jacket, and went out alone to find something to drink.
The winter night in City B is still bustling, with many people walking on the streets and bright lights.
She turned into a relatively quiet alley and found a bar that looked quite stylish. She sat down in the corner of the bar, ordered a glass of gin and tonic, and stared at the crystal glass wall.
Then the woman came over and started talking.
Zhou Jianxing didn't realize anything at first, until he chatted for a few minutes and looked around, then he realized with embarrassment that he seemed to have accidentally walked into a bar.
The first time I met Hao Tianni, she was wearing a neat gray suit and her hair was tied into a low ponytail at the back of her head.
Her temperament is completely different from Wen Lingyi's.
Wen Lingyi seems to have no edges, while Hao Tianni is full of edges.
She has slightly high cheekbones, a jawline as clear and sharp as if carved with a knife, prominent brow bones, a high nose bridge, and slightly deep eye sockets, giving her an indescribable exotic charm.
Cold white skin, blue veins, dark eyebrows and eyes, and those rimless glasses give him an aura of frigidity.
At first glance, it looks like an isolated iceberg.
But after actually getting along with each other, Zhou Jianxing discovered that Hao Tianni was actually a very gentle and considerate person. She was thirty years old and mentally mature.
She is measured in what she says and does, and her emotions are stable. She is never hot and cold, or vague, and always responds to every word she says.
During their first in-depth conversation, Zhou Jianxing told the other party frankly that he had not yet completely gotten over his previous relationship.
Hao Tianni also expressed her understanding and admitted that she had just ended a relationship not long ago.
Perhaps it was this similar state of emotional transition that gave the two of them common topics, and after a while, they became friends who could occasionally have a drink together.
Hao Tianni was also the first person Zhou Jianxing met who could be considered a friend in City B where he had no relatives.
Hao Tianni works in the financial industry and is very busy. 996 is the norm. She usually only has time at night to meet Zhou Jianxing for a drink and a chat.
Zhou Jianxing could vaguely feel that the other party seemed to want to take the relationship a step further, and she was not very resistant to it.
After all, it is easy and harmonious to get along with Hao Tianni. She is mature and considerate and is a good companion.
People can't stay in the past forever, they have to try to move forward.
If it weren't for this sudden accident, she probably would never have thought of it.
She and Wen Lingyi will have such close interactions again.
