Chapter 6 Can you lend me some money?

"Boss, the plan is progressing smoothly as we planned, and you'll be able to close the deal soon if nothing unexpected happens."

Assistant Wen handed the documents to his boss. Uncle Qin had been very high-profile in his rise to power recently, making all sorts of moves, big and small. Everyone in the Qin family was in a state of panic, fearing that they would be laid off at any moment.

"The plan will continue; it'll be more interesting when things get chaotic." Qin Yan sneered. At this moment, he was like a ruler sitting on a throne, looking down on those with malicious intentions, letting them fight to the death while he quietly enjoyed the spectacle.

"Boss, when do you plan to be discharged from the hospital?"

He looked out the window, which provided a good vantage point to see everything happening in the garden. That's when he saw Yun Nuan staring intently at the little boy in front of her.

Or rather, her gaze was fixed on the last remaining candied hawthorn. She didn't speak, but her gaze was intense. The little boy opposite her was completely unaware and continued to talk as he moved closer to Yun Nuan.

"In a while."

After receiving his boss's reply, Assistant Wen didn't say anything more. However, what the doctor said today made him hesitate about whether to tell Qin Yan.

Just as the little boy was about to get close to Yun Nuan, Aunt Lan appeared. She took a small blanket and covered Yun Nuan's legs with it, then put a coat over her, covering her up completely.

The little boy finished eating the candied hawthorn and ran away.

"Is there anything else?" He turned around and asked, seeing that Assistant Wen was still standing behind him.

Assistant Wen hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"Well, Miss Yun's medical expenses seem to be due this month, and the Yun family has suspended all of her financial support. Miss Yun will be leaving the sanatorium in a couple of days."

Qin Yan frowned after hearing this, but then he thought that Yun Nuan's discharge from the hospital was a good thing for him.

“Isn’t it normal to be discharged from the hospital? I don’t think her illness is that serious at all. She’s still thinking about the child’s things.”

Assistant Wen shut up. The doctor said something else: Miss Yun's illness was very serious, and the specific cause could not be found so far. She could only rely on medication to relieve the symptoms.

Taking medicine won't solve the problem at all, and if this continues, Miss Yun probably won't live much longer. But the boss probably doesn't want to hear these words either.

He chose to keep quiet.

The child left, and soon the sweet smell was carried away by the wind. She pursed her lips tightly, a sudden sense of loss washing over her. She also wanted to taste these things; the book was filled with pictures of so many things, all of which she had never eaten before.

After she had sunbathed enough, Aunt Lan quickly took her back to the ward to eat something and prepare for a nap.

Aunt Lan went next door. She got up and circled the ward but couldn't find her things. Aunt Lan had cleaned the room thoroughly when she came, and she didn't know where her things had been put.

Yun Nuan felt a surge of anger; she wanted to eat these things, she wanted to taste them before she died. But now she was penniless, and she didn't know where she had her wallet, bank cards, or phone.

She felt a little wronged, and her eyes welled up with tears.

She woke up at four in the afternoon. The windows were tightly closed, with only a tiny bit of light letting in through the cracks. She stepped barefoot onto the carpet and pulled back the curtains.

The temperature was nice and the sunlight was plentiful. She stood by the window, golden light outlining her silhouette. At that moment, she looked holy and beautiful.

On the other side, Assistant Wen looked at the bill in his hand, hesitating whether to hand it over to his boss.

It was only now that I learned that the Yun family had stopped providing medical care expenses. The sanatorium assumed that the Yun family would pay by the end of this month. Yun Nuan had come here for treatment before, and the Yun family would always settle the bill at the end.

It now seems that the Yun family has no such intention, and having learned that Mr. Qin and Miss Yun's relationship seems to be unusual, I made a point of informing them this morning when I met Assistant Wen.

This sanatorium belongs to Qin Yan. The doctor originally wanted to transfer the money directly to Qin Yan's account, but in the end, he still needed to inform Qin Yan first and see what he would say.

Qin Yan looked at the bill. The numbers were alright, considering that this sanatorium catered to high-end clientele, hence the high prices.

Qin Yan remained silent, wondering how he had ended up paying for the other party's medical expenses, and where he had gone wrong.

What he didn't know was that because of his car accident and the fact that the Yun family had recently publicized that Yun Nuan was his fiancée, he suddenly became the talk of the town in S City.

Everyone knows that Yun Nuan has been sickly since childhood, and Qin Yan's personality changed drastically after he became lame. Everyone said that neither of them would live long. It's a pity about Qin Yan; it's a pity that such a promising young man has fallen.

"Pay to my account." He rubbed his brow bone in frustration; the thought of the other person's lifeless eyes made his heart ache like it was being gently scratched by a cat.

For several days in a row, Yun Nuan would run into that little boy, who had candied hawthorns and all sorts of other snacks in his hands.

She was very hungry, her mouth watering constantly, and she couldn't help but open her mouth.

Yun Nuan hesitated for a moment before speaking to the little boy.

Do you have money?

"Oh, sister, what do you need money for?"

After thinking for a moment, Yun Nuan honestly asked, "Can you lend me ten yuan to buy some food? I can pay you back tomorrow."

The little boy thought for a moment and nodded. He had been observing this older sister for a long time. Everyone was in the nursing home, so she probably wouldn't lie to him.

Yun Nuan successfully obtained the money, but now she doesn't know where she put her phone and bank cards, so she has no choice but to borrow money.

She held onto the money, planning to buy milk tea the next time she went out. She'd never had milk tea before, and she was certain she would pay it back.

The little boy was very generous; the ten-yuan note in his small bag was probably the smallest denomination he had, likely change from buying candied hawthorns.

His parents were generous; there was even a bank card in the account. The little boy was a robust and chubby-faced boy. Yun Nuan said she would give him the money if he asked, and even told him he didn't need to pay her back.

Yun Nuan knew that what is borrowed must be returned. Although she hadn't studied or interacted with everyone, she had still managed to get into S University, even though she had taken a leave of absence.

"Thank you," she said to the little boy.

After finishing his snacks, the little boy felt it was time to go find his mother. He walked up to Yun Nuan with a somewhat precocious air and spoke...

"You're my friend now. I'll bring you something delicious next time you come. My grandpa loves the food I bring, and I'm sure you'll like it too."

After saying that, he left, scurrying happily towards the sanatorium area.

Yun Nuan held the still-warm ten yuan note and was a little happy.

This was the first friend she made, and although he was just a little kid, she was very happy.

However, she couldn't wait for the little boy to arrive, because the doctor said she could be discharged.

From Aunt Lan's conversation with the doctor, we know that the Yun family has stopped paying her medical and recuperation fees, and this month's fees were paid by that cold-faced, sullen man.

She's been feeling well lately and can go home to rest.

After struggling to finish telling her all this, Aunt Lan couldn't help but look at her face. She thought to herself, "How unfortunate! What kind of parents are these?"
