Chapter 423 Where are you guilty?

This left Zhu Yunwen somewhat bewildered, and then he frowned:

"Putting aside my identity and status, even if I were just an ordinary citizen, you should not speak so rudely to me."

I remember that in my Great Ming Dynasty, the status of ordinary people was higher than that of you government officials and clerks. How come the reality is different from what I know?

Yet you are so arrogant, showing no regard for the common people? Who gave you this arrogance, allowing you to strut around here?

Furthermore, the imperial court stipulates that if local people have any issues, they can personally report to the local county magistrate and other officials in the county government.

"What, these policies haven't been implemented in your Sand City? Or are you still as bureaucratic as before, still aloof and inflexible?"

Upon hearing Zhu Yunwen's words, the constable shook his head and said:

"I'm not going to waste my breath on you here. No matter what, you're not getting away with this beating today."

As he spoke, the constable prepared to order Zhu Yuntong to be beaten.

At this moment, Zhu Yunwen gave Zhao Qingzhu a look, and Zhao Qingzhu then spoke:

"Wait a moment……"

Then, the constable looked at Zhao Qingzhu with a puzzled expression and asked:

"Little girl, what are you trying to do now? Let me tell you, don't think that just because we officers don't hit women."

If you try to act like this guy, causing trouble and threatening us with the imperial court all the time, then we won't be so polite.

Zhao Qingzhu smiled faintly and said:

"I just have something I want you to pass on to your county magistrate so he can take a look at it, and then you can decide whether or not to beat this man."

The constable was puzzled, but Zhao Qingzhu took out a gold token from his body. This gold token naturally represented Zhu Yunwen's status as the grandson of the emperor.

The constable, however, did not recognize the gold badge. After all, given his rank, he had at most only seen the official seal of the county magistrate.

In his mind, this highest level of status representation didn't even exist.

Besides, he didn't have any formal education, so he didn't recognize the characters written on it, let alone the seals carved on it.

All he knew was that the object looked to be made of pure gold. Could it be that the woman in front of him was trying to bribe the magistrate?

That's a good job.

So he immediately took the gold nugget and excitedly ran into the main room to present it to their magistrate.

The magistrate will surely praise him for his cleverness, remember his merit, and recall his good deeds.

Just moments after he went inside, he heard the magistrate's roar, and was then chased out by a rather fat magistrate who was banging on his fan as he ran.

The constable was stunned. While running, he humbly spoke:

"Your Excellency, what's wrong? What have I done wrong...?"

The magistrate, however, wasn't about to waste words with him. He chased after him and kicked him twice more before saying:

"You bastard, where did you get this token?"

Upon hearing this, the constable immediately explained:

“A woman outside gave it to me and asked me to pass it on to you. This thing must be quite valuable. Magistrate, you don’t need to reward me, at least you don’t need to beat me…”

The magistrate was furious. He slapped the constable hard across the face and then cursed viciously:

"Who gave it to you? Explain yourself..."

The constable, stunned by the beating, immediately led the magistrate to Zhao Qingzhu and pointed at her, saying to the magistrate:

"My lord, it was him, he gave it to me..."

The magistrate immediately looked at Zhao Qingzhu, then swallowed hard and said cautiously:

"May I ask who you are...?"

Zhao Qingzhu pointed to the token in the magistrate's hand and said:

"Isn't this enough to clearly tell you my identity?"

The magistrate immediately began to speak, trembling:

"This is His Highness the Crown Prince's personal token, but why is it in your possession? And what is your identity?"

Zhao Qingzhu spoke calmly:

"I am naturally His Highness the Crown Prince's concubine, the Crown Prince's Consort."

The magistrate's body trembled violently, and then he spat out another mouthful of saliva and said:

"So it's Her Highness the Crown Prince's Consort..."

As he spoke, he involuntarily knelt on the ground and said:

"This humble official, the magistrate of Shacheng County, greets the Crown Prince's Consort. May I ask, Crown Prince's Consort, where is the Crown Prince? If he is also in this vicinity, this humble official must immediately go to pay his respects..."

At this moment, the constable was completely stunned. He would never have imagined that the beautiful woman in front of him was actually the Crown Prince's Consort.

This is outrageous!

How could I have been so disrespectful to the Crown Prince's wife?

Isn't this a complete disaster?

Just as he was bewildered, Zhao Qingzhu calmly spoke up:

"Where is the Crown Prince? That's a good question. You should ask one of your constables; he should know better."

The magistrate immediately looked at the constable, who was still completely bewildered, thinking to himself, "How would I know where the Crown Prince is?"

The county magistrate, however, roared at him:

"You insolent brat, you know the answer, so why don't you speak up? Where is His Highness the Crown Prince?"

The constable was startled and was about to say that he didn't know where His Highness the Crown Prince was.

But the next moment, he seemed to have thought of something, and his face turned even paler. Then he slowly looked at Zhu Yunwen, who was lying on a bench not far away, preparing to be beaten.

Following his gaze, the county magistrate also looked over and immediately turned pale.
