Chapter 27 It's better to steal than to give.

When Jiang Jinyu heard this, her scalp tingled with fear.

If Jiang Jinyu had thought the young man could be saved after hearing about the animal cruelty, since it wasn't her problem and she didn't keep any pets, and although the methods were a bit bloody, at least it hadn't reached the point of murder, and she could still find a way to change things.

She could tolerate hearing about stealing the maid's undergarment, after all, she was the maid who served him.

But when the system finished speaking its last sentence, she felt like the sky was about to fall.

"Jiang Chengyi!" Jiang Jinyu could no longer hold back and called out.

Jiang Chengyi, still spouting nonsense, was completely unaware that he had been thoroughly exposed. He looked at Xu Wanying, who remained silent, and assumed that she couldn't win the argument, secretly pleased with himself.

Suddenly hearing his younger sister call him by his full name, he immediately stopped talking.

"Jinyu, what's wrong?" He quickly turned his head to look at his younger sister, his face filled with worry.

Clearly, compared to arguing with Xu Wanying, his younger sister held a more important place in his heart.

If it were before, Jiang Jinyu would have been happy to see him abandon what he was doing and turn to her.

After all, they were twins, and they had grown up together since they were little. She considered them to be the most important people to each other. But now, looking at the concern on his face, what popped into her mind was no longer, "My brother is so good to me," but rather, "Is he so concerned about me just to take my handkerchief, fan, or even my undergarment?"

The thought was like a leech, making her feel nauseous.

After all, she wasn't an outsider; she was his sister.

[Tsk tsk tsk, so concerned about his sister, huh? I wonder if it's genuine or just a facade. How far has this little rascal progressed? Did he steal Jiang Jinyu's undergarment?]

Xu Wanying's curious thoughts arrived late, and were filled with utter contempt.

[Those undergarments weren't so easy to steal. Although they were siblings and Jiang Jinyu wasn't very wary of him, there was still a difference between men and women, and they were both older, living in different courtyards, so their personal clothing certainly wouldn't come into contact. However, he had round fans and handkerchiefs, as well as sachets and perfume pouches; he stole two large boxes full of those.]

【Huh? What's there to steal? They're siblings. When Jiang Jinyu was learning needlework, she would inevitably make sachets and pouches for her family. As the older twin, he probably received the most, and they were all made by Jiang Jinyu herself. Why would he need to steal them?】

Xu Wanying truly couldn't understand this twisted thought process; she probably wouldn't have needed to steal any of these things, she would already possess plenty.

Jiang Jinyu did indeed make him a lot, providing everything he needed, but the things he stole were all for Jiang Jinyu's own use. The handkerchief had been used to wipe her sweat, the sachet contained fragrance she had personally blended and which had hung on her waist for a long time, and the round fan she had held in her hand was also imbued with her feminine scent. The meaning was different.

Before the system could finish speaking, it was interrupted by Xu Wanying's vomiting sound: "[Ugh, I'm going to throw up. System, could you please stop using the phrase 'daughter's fragrance'? It's such a defiled term. That damned Jiang Chengli, he didn't like the gift others gave him, he insisted on stealing it. He's completely insane.]"

The system said with a hint of helplessness: "Host, you've already called him a pervert, so don't try to understand his thought process. He's different from normal people; he finds theft more exciting."

Of course, he was well aware that his actions were wrong, so he hid the two wooden boxes very well, so much so that even his personal servant was unaware of them.

Xu Wanying immediately asked curiously, "Where is it? I want to see how well it's hidden."

System Explanation: [He pried out all the bricks from under the bed, made space for the wooden box, stuffed it inside, and then covered it with another layer of bricks to compact it. To make it undetectable, he even spent two days learning bricklaying techniques from a mason. His secret hideout was completely invisible from the outside.]

Xu Wanying couldn't help but sigh: "Tsk, with that kind of dedication to learning, there are so many good things he could do, why does he have to steal his sister's things!"

"Jinyu, what's wrong?" Jiang Chengyi gently nudged her sister when she didn't respond.

"ah?"

"What's wrong with you? I called you several times but you didn't respond. What are you thinking about so intently?" Jiang Chengyi asked again.

"No, no, I'm not feeling well and I want to go back." Jiang Jinyu's mind was in turmoil; all she wanted now was to get back quickly and verify these things.

Although it was quite miraculous to be able to hear Xu Wanying's thoughts, she no longer maliciously speculated whether her third sister-in-law was possessed by an evil spirit or something; she was only focused on what the system had said.

She has to see for herself to know if it's true.

"Were you frightened by Xu's ruthlessness?"

"Xu, let me tell you, if you scare Jin Yu to the point of death, I'll make you regret it! You—"

Jiang Chengyi had no idea what she was thinking and was still trying to pin the blame on Xu Wanying, looking like she wanted to devour her whole.

Before he could finish speaking, Jiang Jinyu interrupted him: "Enough, Jiang Chengyi, stop talking about Madam Xu. She's our third sister-in-law. How can you not know any respect for people? If Father finds out, you'll be in big trouble!"

Her tone was very harsh, even threatening, and her face was gloomy, a completely serious reprimand.

Jiang Chengyi was stunned and stared at her blankly.

"Jinyu, what's wrong with you? Why are you speaking up for her and scolding me instead? It's clearly her who's vicious and wicked, and she ate the Chilian I raised."

The siblings grew up together, inseparable. Jiang Jinyu rarely scolded him. Even if she disapproved of some of his actions, she would only try to dissuade him. At her annoyedest, she would just turn her face away and ignore him. She had never criticized him so righteously.
