"Third Sister-in-law, I apologize for disturbing you. Jiang Chengyi was being unreasonable today, please forgive her." Jiang Jinyu apologized directly to Xu Wanying.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Chengyi jumped up in anger: "Jinyu, what nonsense are you talking about? Why should I apologize to her? I did nothing wrong! She was the one who tried to kill my beloved pet! Before you came—"
He seemed to want to say something, but then seemed to think it was inappropriate and swallowed his words back.
"Third Sister-in-law, please rest well." Jiang Jinyu bowed to her and quickly withdrew.
Jiang Chengyi was clearly not done making a scene yet, and immediately shouted, "Jinyu, where are you going? Today's matter is not settled yet. Xu must apologize to my Chilian, or I will not let this go!"
He shouted loudly, but Jiang Jinyu had already left without looking back.
Jiang Chengyi watched his sister's departing figure, hesitated several times, and finally stamped his foot and chased after her.
Just before stepping over the threshold, he suddenly turned back and said ruthlessly, "Xu, this is not over. Tomorrow I will make you pay for Chi Lian's life!"

His eyelids were lowered, and his gaze remained fixed on her hands.
The girl's hands were snow-white and smooth, with a faint pink tinge at the knuckles, making her look incredibly charming and lovely.
She held a soft handkerchief in her hand, on which was embroidered an orange cat playing with a ball, looking very endearing.
Even without getting close, he could almost smell the fragrance on the handkerchief. Although it was cold in winter, the warm scent of her perfume was soothing and comforting, as if it warmed his body.
A look of determination flashed in Jiang Chengyi's eyes. This was a handkerchief she had just embroidered, and the orange cat pattern was something he had never seen before. He didn't have any such collectibles in his two boxes.
“How did I cause trouble? Didn’t you say we should come see Madam Xu first, and keep it a secret from Mother? I did exactly as you said, so why are you angry and even blaming me?” Jiang Chengyi argued logically.
Jiang Jinyu had no intention of arguing with him at this point, so she didn't reply to a word and headed straight for Shou Kang Yuan.
Jiang Chengyi, however, followed closely behind, still chattering on and on.
"No, you barely said a few words after you went to Qingxi Pavilion, so why are you unhappy? You even took the side of others. What is it about Xu Wanying that makes you so infatuated?"
"What nonsense are you talking about? I didn't tell you to throw the snake in front of her! The bandage on her head is still on. What if she gets scared and falls? Are you going to pay for her life?" Jiang Jinyu finally couldn't hold back, stopped and raised her voice to retort.
"Why are you being so fierce? I am the legitimate son of the Marquis's mansion. What is she? Does she deserve for me to pay for her life? So what if she's dead? With Third Brother's status, handsome looks, and bright future, he can find a new wife whose status is higher than hers. If she hadn't been so cunning and clingy, she wouldn't even consider herself Third Brother's concubine!" Jiang Chengyi said indifferently.
Jiang Jinyu stood there, stunned, feeling extremely distressed.

"Mother, why are you protecting Xu Shi too? She even beat my beloved pet—"
Jiang Chengyi was already holding her breath against Jiang Jinyu, but when she heard her own mother also speaking up for Xu Wanying, she became even more annoyed and couldn't help but complain.
Before he could finish speaking, Cen Shi slapped him hard on the back, interrupting him.
"What Xu Shi? Call her Third Sister-in-law!"
“What third sister-in-law? She didn’t even consummate her marriage with my third brother, so what kind of third sister-in-law is she?” Jiang Chengyi was very indignant.
He was slapped several more times before he finished speaking, this time even getting a slap on the head.
