Is it absolutely necessary to wear it?
Shi Qian was somewhat resistant. He couldn't understand why he liked such an exaggerated hairstyle. He felt that his original hair was fine. Although it was always tangled, it didn't matter. He could just comb it out.
He touched the ends of his hair, then tried on a green-streaked, frizzy wig to test it on his head. Hmm, it's a bit heavy. Won't it give me a headache?
When Shi Yan saw that Shi Qian was going to wear it, he finally felt that Shi Qian had returned to his obedient self who did whatever he was told before. He happily went over and offered to help him adjust it.
Shi Qian let her hair down. "I don't want to wear this, cousin."
Shi Yan paused, his hand still gripping a corner of his hair. This was the first time he had heard Shi Qian reject him so clearly. He knew that Shi Qian would never reject him.
Shi Yan frowned. "Didn't you like it? You used to beg me to put it on you."
"Really?" Shi Qian couldn't remember that time. "Maybe my taste has changed now, and I don't want to wear it anymore."
Shi Yan was immediately silenced. He couldn't force Shi Qian any further because Shi Qian had clearly refused. If he pushed her too hard, Shi Yan was afraid that Shi Qian might say something she shouldn't at home.
When Shi Yan first tricked Shi Qian into dressing up in strange clothes, he told him that only by dressing like this would people be willing to be his friends. This was their little secret, and they couldn't tell anyone. Shi Qian nodded in confusion, indicating that he agreed.
Therefore, everyone in the family thought that Shi Qian just had strange tastes and liked these random things, and never suspected that it was Shi Yan's deliberate request.
Because Shi Qian had never refused Shi Yan's suggestions, Shi Yan naturally arranged for Shi Qian to do all sorts of things. He didn't care at all whether Shi Qian would like it or not, after all, this fool didn't understand anything and couldn't see anything.
But things are different now. Shi Qian will directly reject his proposal, and if he pushes too hard, something might happen.
Shi Yan could only feign displeasure, leaning back with his hands on the floor, looking as if Shi Qian was ungrateful. "Then you can decide for yourself. You only prepared this for me because you said you liked me before."
Shi Qian didn't want Shi Yan to be angry, but he really didn't want to wear the wig, so he could only hum in response.
"You're not saying you don't even want to wear makeup anymore, are you?" Shi Yan asked, noticing Shi Qian's gaze lingering on the eyeshadow palette.
Just as Shi Qian was about to say that she didn't want to wear makeup, she heard Shi Yan speak up. Thinking that if she refused again, her cousin might be very unhappy, so she had no choice but to keep quiet.
"I'll give it a try."
Shi Yan finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Do you need my help?"
"No need, I should still remember how to draw it."
Hearing Shi Qian's words, Shi Yan felt much more at ease. Under the soft, warm light, Shi Yan could see Shi Qian's features and skin more clearly, and even the fine hairs on his face.
It was indeed a perfect face that would make anyone envious, without a single flaw. Her eyelashes were thick and long, her eyes were big and bright, her nose was small and straight, and her lips were perfectly shaped. She was beautiful no matter how you looked at her; she truly had the face of a vixen.
Shi Qian's pajamas collar slipped slightly, and Shi Yan could see Shi Qian's clear collarbone and exposed fair skin. Although Shi Qian was very thin, she was not short either, nearly 1.8 meters tall. Most importantly, her proportions were excellent, with a slim waist and long legs. Paired with her face, she looked like a tall, slender, and aloof beauty.
Shi Yan grew angrier the more he looked at it, angry that he didn't have that face and that figure. If he had such a face, he wouldn't have to spend so much time dressing up every day.
Shi Yan looked down at himself. Although he was 1.79 meters tall, his bone structure was not very good. He could only rely on dressing up to modify his figure. Compared to Shi Qian, a natural beauty who would look good even if she wore a burlap sack, he was still much inferior.
If Shi Qian were to return to school looking like this, it would make his reputation as the school heartthrob seem rather ridiculous.
He would never allow such a thing to happen; under no circumstances could he allow Shi Qian to show his true face.
Makeup is no longer an option, but dressing up is out of the question. Last year, the school started requiring every student to wear a school uniform to discourage unnecessary competition, so Shi Qian's old-fashioned style of dressing up is no longer feasible.
It's okay, anyway, covering that face is fine.
Seeing that Shi Qian had agreed, Shi Yan didn't say anything more, letting him handle it himself, and then left the room.
When Meng Qing returned, she saw Shi Qian holding a large box of cosmetics with her brows furrowed, as if she were worried about something very important.
"What's wrong?"
Meng Qing leaned closer and asked in a low voice.
"It's nothing, I was just thinking about how to do my makeup tomorrow?"
Why do we need to wear makeup?
Meng Qing couldn't quite understand. He looked at Shi Qian's perfect face and couldn't figure out where these things were supposed to be used.
"I used to really like wearing makeup, and I would dress up nicely for school."
"Why?"
"Make friends".
"Would that be useful?"
Shi Qian was taken aback by the question. After thinking about it carefully for a long time, she realized that she didn't seem to have made any friends.
"It doesn't seem to be working."
"So, do you like it now?"
"I don't really like it."
"Then don't dye it."
Meng Qing felt that Shi Qian had no need to dwell on this issue. Just because someone liked something in the past doesn't mean they like it now. Since they don't like it now, there's no need to force themselves to conform to past habits.
Besides, what does making friends have to do with makeup? Meng Qing couldn't quite understand the connection between the two.
"But if I don't do this, my cousin won't be happy."
Shi Qian looked somewhat troubled.
Meng Qing frowned, thinking that it was Shi Yan stirring up trouble again. He didn't know how the two had gotten along before, nor did he know what Shi Yan had said to Shi Qian when he came in, but it certainly wasn't anything nice.
From his observations of the Shi family over the past few days, Shi Yan clearly didn't like his cousin very much. His words implied something else, but the little fool in front of him seemed oblivious to it all, still eagerly calling him "cousin" affectionately.
Seeing that Shi Qian was still hesitating, Meng Qing took it upon herself to pack up the things, tucked them all into the bottom of the cabinet, out of sight, out of mind.
"If he's unhappy, he's unhappy. You have no obligation to make everyone happy."
Meng Qing gently tapped Shi Qian's head, pulled him up, and patted his wrinkled pants. Although the floor was carpeted and not cold, Shi Qian was too weak and would get sick if he caught a chill. Meng Qing had been paying a little more attention to him these past few days. Shi Qian was more sensitive to the cold than most people, so the heating in the room was always set extra high.
Meng Qing doesn't want this person to get sick as soon as school starts, since she's going back to school tomorrow.
