Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Lu Jiamu felt that this school was worthy of being called one of the few remaining bases. The books in its library were very large, varied and comprehensive.

From 500 years of history of monster struggles to cooking and knitting tips.

Lu Jiamu pinched his chin: But if you consider that these are probably the last few archives left over from past civilizations, it doesn't seem so surprising.

It took them a while to use the classification labels on the side of the bookshelf to exclude those unrelated books for leisure and entertainment, and only walked around the part of the bookshelf that they needed.

It consists mainly of a number of miscellaneous, dusty archives and partially compiled books on historical economics and monsters.

If the books in the library were not so numerous but clearly categorized, they might have needed to spend more time.

The six people looked at each other, and without further delay, they walked towards different locations on the bookshelf in tacit understanding.

There was a ladder in front of the bookshelf to help borrowers get books. Lu Jiamu climbed up the ladder, previewed the spines of the books on the bookshelf, quickly picked out all the books he was interested in, and went down the ladder carrying them.

Then he reached into his pocket for the glasses case, took out the small gold-rimmed glasses, put them on his nose, found a seat and began to read carefully.

Yu Leng glanced at him while picking out books, and was surprised to see him pick up so many books at once.

Then I noticed that his speed of turning pages was somewhat different from that of an ordinary person.

Normal people usually read reference books very carefully, paragraph by paragraph. They will pause at certain points that they think are important, or read back and forth repeatedly, and the page turning speed will be relatively slow.

But when Lu Jiamu read a book, he just glanced through it without pausing and turned the pages directly at a very fast speed, with a mechanical feeling of fixed frequency.

Yu Leng came over with a book in his arms, pulled a small chair, and sat next to Lu Jiamu. He asked in surprise, "So many?"

Lu Jiamu nodded.

Yu Leng glanced at the densely packed words on the book and asked again: "Can you remember it?"

Lu Jiamu was reading a book about people with special abilities. The author classified the people with special abilities in this world into different categories and described their abilities in detail.

This is also the book he thinks is the most important and needs to be read immediately.

Hearing Yu Leng's question, Lu Jiamu paused in turning the pages, raised his hand to support his gold-rimmed glasses: "Almost. I read fast."

How much is the difference?

So fast, does he have the ability to remember everything he sees?

Yu Leng had some new understanding of his deskmate. He stopped asking questions and did not dare to tease Lu Jiamu with words like "quantum reading" which sounded very annoying.

Lu Jiamu continued to read the book at a glance.

He quickly finished reading this one and reached for another.

Time is limited, and after lunch they have to go back to their afternoon classes, which also includes time to return books.

Lu Jiamu's fingertips flipped the pages faster and faster. He did not read the remaining books as carefully as he did the first one. His dark eyes scanned each page for a few seconds before immediately moving on to the next page.

But he always boasted that he had a good memory. Although he could not remember every word exactly as he read it, he was able to summarize all the contents of the book.

In the next few dozen minutes, Lu Jiamu quickly flipped through the books and files around him, then stood up and returned the books he had taken to their original places.

With the help of these books, he learned more information.

For example, I saw a lot of documents brought back by the exploration team.

For example, in a book with a religious flavor, it rarely writes about the history of the establishment of the base, but instead records several major events that occurred at the beginning of the disaster, allowing Lu Jiamu to know how most places outside were destroyed, and mysteriously called it the first year.

It describes ghosts as a powerful force that reverses life and death and subverts all original order.

Sounds like something a cultist wrote.

Lu Jiamu took off his glasses, blew on them, wiped them slowly, folded them and put them back in the glasses case, then glanced to the side.

Seeing that the other five people were either flipping through books or tidying up the mess they had made, he took the opportunity to wander over to a bookshelf and took down another book that he had not read yet, preparing to borrow it to read.

After they had tidied themselves, they came to the library door and knocked.

A small window nearby was immediately cut open with a sharp sound, revealing the librarian's strange eyes covered with white film.

He slowly glanced at them again and asked, "Have you read it? One copy per person?"

A few people nodded, and the magic circle they had seen when they came in was outlined on the door again: "Remember to register..."

After a dizzy spell, they returned to the small room on the sixth floor of the teaching building.

Lu Jiamu walked to the register and wrote down the name and number of the book he had borrowed.

The rest of the people followed suit and went downstairs before one o'clock to prepare for the afternoon class.

In the afternoon, all the theory classes were held indoors. Lu Jiamu took out a blank notebook and pen and began to listen carefully.

He could remember everything the teacher said once, so he started scribbling on his notebook while listening.

Yu Leng saw out of the corner of his eye that he had scribbled out the appearance of a bald evil ghost, which looked very realistic, and despite its heavy taste, it appeared to be a work of exquisite craftsmanship.

Yu Leng didn't expect that he was so versatile and could even paint. He just didn't know where he got the prototype of this bald ghost.

Then he remembered that this seemed to be an illustration in one of the books that Lu Jiamu was reading today. It was also a sketch, and Yu Leng had glanced at it inadvertently.

It was just that Lu Jiamu was turning the pages very quickly at the time, and Yu Leng thought he didn't even look at the picture.

I didn't expect that he could not only look at it, but also accurately copy the entire picture, and even remember the details so clearly, which is truly amazing.

Yu Leng secretly marveled at this, wondering if maybe he really did have the ability to remember everything he saw.

After the afternoon class, because they had successfully borrowed books from the library, they did not run around in the teaching building, but returned to the dormitory early.

Since Lu Jiamu had already read his own book during break, he took it and shared it with others.

As lights-out time approached, Teacher Gao came to the dormitory again to take a head count.

Yu Leng still remembered what happened last night. When Teacher Gao came to him, he immediately called him: "Teacher!"

Teacher Gao looked at him: "Hmm?"

Yu Leng showed a sunny and pleasing smile, and told Teacher Gao about the female ghost last night and his own worries.

After listening to this, Mr. Gao asked back: "So what?"

He sneered: "What do you think we are? Your babysitters?"

Yu Leng replied obediently: "No, teacher."

"The school doesn't support fools. If you get fooled by a little water ghost like that, you deserve to be expelled." Teacher Gao snorted, "Besides, it doesn't only appear in your dormitory. How can I find it? Do you want me to sit here and accompany you all night?"

Yu Leng stopped asking.

Teacher Gao counted the number of people and was very satisfied to see that everyone in the dormitory was present.

However, although he had just scolded Yu Leng, he did not leave immediately after turning off the lights as usual.

He stood by the dormitory door for a full ten minutes. Seeing that there was nothing unusual in the dormitory, he said "Good night, sweet dreams" in that hoarse and unpleasant voice, and then left the dormitory.

But just as Teacher Gao walked away, the door was suddenly pushed open again before it could be locked.

A cold wind carrying a foul stench blew into the dormitory, and a gray, swollen figure stumbled in. It was soaked to the skin, leaving water stains along the way as it walked.

It walked and murmured: "I want to eat...cake...I want to eat...cake..."
