Chapter 22

Chapter 22

Wang Biao followed Lu Jiamu's words and went to check the ventilation ducts.

Now they were trapped in the bathhouse, which was full of highly contagious monsters that would kill anyone who touched them. Even if someone outside was willing to open the door for them, they could not get out through the main entrance because there were no windows.

This is basically equivalent to a secret room, with no way in and no door out.

If the people outside could close the valve quickly and stop the rise of the viscous liquid, perhaps they could live a little longer and find another way.

But unfortunately, there are no ifs in this world.

So far, the ventilation duct seems to be the only place that can connect to the outside.

Wang Biao observed for a moment: "There is a wire mesh in the vent."

“You can try to take down the barbed wire.”

Wang Biao's brows were still furrowed: "It's too far away, we can't seem to get through there."

"It's impossible for one person to get through." Lu Jiamu pointed upwards, "But I have an idea now. We can tie the clothes together and pass through them, and then you can help me swing through the clothes to the other side. This way we will be closer to the ventilation duct."

“This…” Wang Biao was stunned. “This… This is too dangerous. If your clothes get loose or you don’t hold on firmly, you will fall down.”

Lu Jiamu nodded: "This is the only place that can still connect to the outside world."

The implication is that this is the only chance of survival, either find a way to risk getting across, or stay here and wait to die, or be assimilated into the pool of sticky liquid below.

Wang Biao gritted his teeth and said, "Okay."

If he wanted to do as Lu Jiamu said, he had to go back to them.

Lu Jiamu turned around in their sight and raised his hands to show them that he was not infected.

Wang Biao nodded, indicating that he had no problem.

After hearing what Lu Jiamu said, the other surviving children's eyes, which had been desperate, showed a glimmer of light again: "We want to join, too."

Wang Biao glanced at Lu Jiamu and said, "Okay," when he saw that he didn't refuse.

For something like this, of course the more people involved, the better.

Everyone took off what clothes they could and started to tie the knot. Several people worked at the same time, and the speed was very fast. It didn't take long to tie a tangled rope.

Because everyone was worried that it might not be strong enough, everyone tied a few more buckles.

Lu Jiamu waited for them to tie it up, reached out and pulled it to test how firm it was, then nodded with satisfaction.

They gathered their small pieces of soap together and stuffed them into one end of a clothesline to make it heavier and easier to throw.

There is only one chance. Once the tube is not tied and falls into the liquid below, it cannot be retrieved.

Everyone looked at Lu Jiamu with a mixture of anticipation and fear.

At this critical moment of life and death, the person everyone trusted the most was not himself, but Lu Jiamu.

He was their squad leader, the best and most reliable one among them, and he was willing to take the risk.

If anyone could pull off this crazy, risky act, it would be him. He had proven his ability with his weekly exam results.

Lu Jiamu held the end containing soap, while Yu Leng held the other end of the rope.

Lu Jiamu weighed the clothes wrapped in soap in his hand, tried the feel, then looked up for a moment, swung his arm and threw it upwards.

The clothes containing the soap were thrown upward, flew over the height of the pipe, hit the roof, then bounced back and fell down through the pipe.

The soaps swayed back and forth a few times and were caught by Lu Jiamu again.

Yu Leng breathed a sigh of relief and gave the end he was holding to Lu Jiamu.

Lu Jiamu tied the two ends together, made a knot, and circled it around his hand: "Give me a push."

Wang Biao nodded, first wrapped his legs around the pipe under him to steady himself, and then pushed Lu Jiamu hard.

Lu Jiamu swung out like a pendulum, and the rope made of clothes was suddenly stretched to the extreme.

But because he was very thin and weighed almost nothing, the clothes did not break.

Wang Biao suddenly began to feel lucky that they were just a group of elementary school students who often didn't have enough food. If they were still adults like before, they would have fallen down and turned into blood.

Lu Jiamu didn't reach the expected location on his first swing. On his way back, he pushed hard on the pipe he could reach and started his second swing.

With the help of leverage, he was able to swing wider this time than before.

After repeating this several times, he finally seized an opportunity, hooked his foot on the ventilation pipe, and hung upside down on it.

Then he used force from his waist to pull himself up.

He crawled forward a few steps, untied the buckle on his side, pulled the side without soap and tied it to the ventilation pipe, and threw the side with soap back.

The end of the rope was held down by the soap and returned to the top of the pipe where the children were standing.

After doing all this, Lu Jiamu climbed to the entrance of the ventilation duct and began to observe the barbed wire.

It is fixed by a very thick wire.

Due to limited tools, Lu Jiamu could only try to break the wire with his hands. However, he was small and weak, and the wire was very thick, so he tried to break it for a long time but it didn't budge at all.

This school is not good at other things, but it is good at cutting off people's lives. The barbed wire is more solid than I thought.

Lu Jiamu could only try to find other solutions while looking around.

After Lu Jiamu tied the clothes to the ventilation duct, the group of children over there could climb over along the rope without having to take risks and waste time swinging back and forth.

They are all small and thin, so as long as they come one by one, don't break the rope, and Lu Jiamu's rope is tied firmly, they will all have a certain chance of passing.

Coleman was unusually proud and courageous: "I'll go first."

Coleman first climbed up the hanging rope to the upper pipe, and then began to crawl dangerously in the air along the other half of the rope.

A group of children kept an eye on the surface of the liquid below and watched her movements nervously, fearing that she would fall accidentally or that any of the buckles would not be fastened tightly and suddenly fall off.

But none of this happened, and Coleman successfully climbed up the ventilation duct.

When Wang Biao saw it, he immediately took the lead and arranged for a new person to climb over.

In this environment, whoever looks stronger and more ferocious is the authority.

Wang Biao happened to be strong and fierce, so the other children accepted his arrangements and behaved in an orderly manner without fighting or competing.

Lu Jiamu was still observing the wire fence when Kou Man, who had just climbed over, suddenly said, "Let me do it."

Lu Jiamu glanced at her, said nothing, and moved aside to make room for her to pass.

Coleman climbed to the entrance of the vent and looked at it carefully, but did not try to remove the wire that fixed it. Instead, he used all his strength to punch the wire mesh.

With a bang, Coleman did not scream or make any sound of broken bones. Instead, the barbed wire suddenly caved inward.

King Kong Barbie?
