Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Lu Jiamu looked at her deeply again, still without any expression.

With one punch, he dented the barbed wire, and Kouman turned around guiltily and glanced at Lu Jiamu's face twice.

Seeing that his expression was still the same as before, Coleman continued to hammer the wire mesh without any worries: "I just had some abnormality these past two days, and I haven't had time to tell you about it. It may be a superpower, or it may not be. Anyway, there is no big change, except that my strength has increased."

Not having enough time is an excuse, but the real reason is that I don't fully trust them. The six of us just met by chance, and this is to be expected.

Lu Jiamu nodded: "Well, I won't say it."

He understands that you don't want to be isolated and doubted by your peers just because you are different.

Coleman was stunned for a moment, then chuckled and thanked: "Thank you."

After she finished speaking, she punched the barbed wire five times in a row and punched through it.

The two of them worked together to expand the pierced part, and then tacitly let Coleman squeeze into the ventilation duct first.

Wang Biao was not a saintly person either, so he knew to go to his teammates. He asked Wei Xiaoyan and Yu Leng to crawl over first, and then he started to crawl over himself.

As soon as Yu Leng came over, he was frightened by the sticky liquid rolling like waves below, his face turned pale, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably. With trembling lips, he asked in a low voice: "How is it... Can I get out?"

Lu Jiamu replied: "It should be possible."

After he said that, he squeezed into the ventilation duct first.

Although they were all thin elementary school students, the pipe was also very narrow. Once they squeezed in, there was basically no space to move.

After a group of children squeezed into the ventilation duct along the rope, they climbed forward with all their strength like insects.

They lost their vision and could only look at the person in front of them. They had no idea how high the horrible monster below was.

They were crowded together, blocking each other's escape routes, and had no choice but to climb forward.

Crawling with their eyes blindfolded and without knowing the end point, caused pressure to spread among the group of children.

Every second was stretched infinitely by the friction sound and metal trembling while crawling, making it anxious and unbearable.

After an unknown amount of time, Coleman, who was crawling in the front, suddenly stopped.

After a few seconds of silence, she whispered, "We're here."

She moved twice, and then there was another round of banging sounds.

There was a shout from outside: "Something is coming out!"

Coleman punched through the outer protective net and slid out quickly.

Lu Jiamu followed closely behind and also saw the light outside and a group of people surrounding them, wearing biological suits and holding flamethrowers.

They pointed their guns at Coleman and the ventilation duct respectively, and were about to start a fire.

"Everyone, step back! Keep your distance!" A hoarse voice shouted amid the chaotic and noisy alarms, "Let them out first."

This unpleasant voice is too familiar. It's Teacher Gao.

After seeing Coleman's condition, the group of people felt that it made sense. Although they were responsible for sealing off this place to prevent the spread of ghosts, there was really no need to kill people indiscriminately.

So they took a few steps back tacitly, observing them vigilantly, ready to take action at any time if anything unexpected happened.

The children in the ventilation duct climbed out one by one quickly.

Teacher Gao put down the flamethrower, took out a black cross, raised it high above his head, and said hoarsely: "Slow down."

Lu Jiamu recognized that this was one of the class equipment that Teacher Gao had displayed on the first day of school. The other one was the Tai Chi sword.

As he spoke, the black cross emitted a dark and dead light that quickly enveloped them.

Strangely, Lu Jiamu didn't feel that he was affected in any way, except that he felt that the color of the light was a bit unpleasant.

He looked back and found that most of the children who crawled out of the pipe were not affected.

Only one of them suddenly became dull under the light, like a rusty doll, with even the movement of his eyeballs and blinking becoming sluggish and slow.

"There are infected people."

The child looked around slowly and awkwardly, then opened his mouth with a click, as if he wanted to say something, but instead he let out a series of intermittent screams: "Ah-ah-ah-ah-"

When the other children saw this, they immediately jumped up and ran away from him.

He began to melt, but the whole process was too slow, with each frame being stuck.

The liquid that fell from his body splashed to the sides as if it had life, trying to infect more people.

But because it was too stuck, the children nearby easily dodged it, preventing it from achieving its goal.

"Get out of the way."

The faculty member wearing a biochemical isolation suit immediately lit the flamethrower and used the high temperature to burn the newly generated ghost into a pool of ashes. At the end, he drew a circle on the ground to indicate isolation.

The other children were horrified by what they saw, and it was really terrifying when they thought about it carefully.

Among them...some people have actually been infected and have come out.

And they had just crawled through the ventilation duct together before!

This thing's IQ is so high that it has been able to endure for so long without causing any trouble. It's obvious that its intention is not towards them, but towards the more normal people outside.

After dealing with the newly transformed monster, Teacher Gao did not stop there.

He still held the black cross high, letting the dark, dead light envelop them, and asked a question: "What is 16+17?"

Mathematics is not their strong point, and the group of children panicked.

With the previous experience, they were all very scared, worried that they would die if they couldn't answer.

In desperation, a few children lowered their heads and began to nervously count their fingers.

"33."

"22... No, 33!"

“31!”

Teacher Gao looked at their answers without commenting on whether they were right or wrong. He just nodded, letting the light continue to cover them, and then asked the second question hoarsely: "What about 17×2? What is it equal to?"

The children began to count on their fingers again.

Teacher Gao looked at their anxious but nimble calculations, put down the cross, and nodded: "No problem."

The faculty and staff remained vigilant. After observing them thoroughly, they took them to the teaching building, locked them in a classroom for isolation, gave them some clothes and food, and asked them to wait for further investigation.

The sirens in the air still showed no sign of stopping, but they were finally safe.

A group of children quickly put on their clothes. As they were so tense just now, they relaxed and slumped in their seats.

The room was quiet.

Everything that just happened seems like a dream now.

Teacher Gao and Teacher Wen also quickly finished their work and rushed over to see them.

The two teachers counted the number of students and found that the class, which originally had more than 50 people, had been reduced by more than half, leaving only a dozen or so. Their expressions became even uglier in different ways.

"Really..." Teacher Gao said hoarsely, "It's only been a few days since the start of school. With so many people missing all of a sudden, I'm afraid no one in this class will be able to graduate."

Teacher Wen nodded.

Teacher Gao was a little anxious, with his hands behind his back, pacing back and forth. After turning around several times, he whispered, "Why did this happen..."
